@StrongHeart13 Civics weigh anywhere from 2100-2500 lbs depending on the year. This Viper weighs 3200 lbs and has about 415 horse if its stock. So yes, the Honduh being about 1000 lbs less and comparable horse since its turboed is no surprise that it put up a fight againt a stock 10+ year old sports car.
the prob with that viper is its like a 95 making 450 hp to the crank and according to posted date it looks like the engine is probably a little old compared to the built civic's
@arbiter1022 But, a civic turbo will only push out about 250-350 HP mate, plus the reason the civic won is because stock civic transmissions have GREAT gear ratios for 1/4 mile drags (because the gears are so close)
plus you also gotta factor in vtec, and turbo pressure releases..
all in all, this civic is nice, and the Viper never stood a chance
That Civic had a very impressive setup under that hood..Never underestimate the little cars...They are light weight, high horsepower, and rev fast!!!... Higher RPMS mean you are gonna get away fast... but eventually the torque and raw power of that Viper would have caught him...I am not an import fan...AT ALL... but mad props to that little Civic

it is safe to say he lost to the turbo-not the Civic. Turbos make ANYTHING go fast. I was the victim of a few turbos myself-A 72 Beetle for that matter-sure it was fast but ugly as shit.

@BIHxJDMxSUPRA I dunno, the latest generation is a pretty good car. The standard SRT-10, even the 03-08 generation, was a pretty decent track car, and it's no slouch in straight speed, either. The GTSs weren't that bad either, just not such a great chassis compared to the SRT.
The R/T-10 was absolute shit, though, I must say. Only 400 hp from 8 liters isn't very good. That's not even much better than in the truck variant of the engine. Not to mention, no windows or roof.

I just finished building my project, 2002 mazda protege with a GT3071R. It will get walked on by alot of civics (until its forged). not a civic hater just get tired of the SAME setup for each one. Its like, put a quarter in; get a turboed civic, put a quarter in; get a turboed civic. go to youtube and watch a civic smash some sports car that weighs three times what it does. I have all the respect for the honda guys but it gets a little lame.

Thats no top end work or tranny work. I paid $8000 for my car. $13700 for a 400hp car, that is still a fully functional family driver (-A/C). Don't tell me I don't know what it costs, if I wanted cheap I would have built a Honda like all the other sheep. And no self respecting tuner would buy a viper.

Look at the weight difference. 220WHP on an N/A setup with a gutted civic would be pretty quick. Plus you could make more power than that from a 4 banger. If you took the time, you could squeeze out probably 320HP at the crank. Plus it would be more reliable than a turbo setup. Your not forcing air in the engine.
@dgk990 Getting from 160HP to the crank off a B16A to 220HP to the wheels would cost over 6grand to build it safely. Trying to make it to 320HP to the crank that's about an estimate of 290-300HP to the wheels. You must be running high compression cams + race gas. That's easily a well spent 15 grand. I doubt any people who will do these NA set-up unless they are a racing manufacture or have money to spend. I get what you're trying to say, but the best bang for your bucks is going F/I.

@BIHxJDMxSUPRA I dunno, the latest generation is a pretty good car. The standard SRT-10, even the 03-08 generation, was a pretty decent track car, and it's no slouch in straight speed, either. The GTSs weren't that bad either, just not such a great chassis compared to the SRT.
The R/T-10 was absolute shit, though, I must say. Only 400 hp from 8 liters isn't very good. That's not even much better than in the truck variant of the engine. Not to mention, no windows or roof.

Some of you sound like those douche bags that just talk to talk and end up getting their mouth slapped like a bitch. Is it really supprising someone built a 4 cylinder and beat a V10? It doesn't matter if you have a I3, I4, I6, V6, V8, V10, or a V12. It matters who crosses that line first. I like original american muscle and I also like Hondas. They have their own unique style, and both can get the job done.
I own and drive camaro 383 stroker and have a civic b16 turboed. They are both fun:)

I just finished building my project, 2002 mazda protege with a GT3071R. It will get walked on by alot of civics (until its forged). not a civic hater just get tired of the SAME setup for each one. Its like, put a quarter in; get a turboed civic, put a quarter in; get a turboed civic. go to youtube and watch a civic smash some sports car that weighs three times what it does. I have all the respect for the honda guys but it gets a little lame.

@InATrance4Life I disagree, my build cost me roughly $4500, thats including the shit that I didn't research and ended up scraping. Another $1200 for internals and I'll be in the 400whp range. Thats no top end work or tranny work. I paid $8000 for my car. $13700 for a 400hp car, that is still a fully functional family driver (-A/C). Don't tell me I don't know what it costs, if I wanted cheap I would have built a Honda like all the other sheep. And no self respecting tuner would buy a viper.

Here is why: We gut out cars, turbo or super charge the motor, spend thousands upon thousands and go race stock v-8's or conservatively built v-10's like the one above. Then talk tons of trash, my problem is that if you spent the same time, money, turbo, supercharged, gut etc on a V-8, well you got a 9sec dragster easy

Sure back in the early 80s and before dodge was considered an amazing car company. People didn't expect much then. But then the times come, technology evolved, and dodge didn't exactly evolve with it. Exactly why a civic turbo would still smoke a viper with a turbo, because the viper would likely blow halfway through.

Look at the weight difference. 220WHP on an N/A setup with a gutted civic would be pretty quick. Plus you could make more power than that from a 4 banger. If you took the time, you could squeeze out probably 320HP at the crank. Plus it would be more reliable than a turbo setup. Your not forcing air in the engine.

@dgk990 Getting from 160HP to the crank off a B16A to 220HP to the wheels would cost over 6grand to build it safely. Trying to make it to 320HP to the crank that's about an estimate of 290-300HP to the wheels. You must be running high compression cams + race gas. That's easily a well spent 15 grand. I doubt any people who will do these NA set-up unless they are a racing manufacture or have money to spend. I get what you're trying to say, but the best bang for your bucks is going F/I.
