Learned about Mr Hamblin by way of his book Pick A Better Country. Didn't mean a whole lot to me at the time as I was just checking out various political viewpoints. But now that I think back, it was my point of awakening. It introduced Conservatism to me. Showed me the side of the fence I should have been playing on. Switched and haven't looked back. Common Sense = Win.

Ken Hamblin is an american hero. His dad moved out when he was a kid. He was raised by his aunt and mother. Ken fought racism in the military. Got a pilot's license, became a professional photographer and eventually had a national talk show. His story is a testament to the opportunities available in this country you can't find anywhere else.

Downtown Buffalo recently had a gang-related shooting that eventually got Buffalo's black community enraged more so by the reportage thereof, as opposed to outrage over the self-destructive behaviors in their own ranks.

I listened often to the radio show- It was an interesting perspective and most of all, I loved the personal stories- My favorite was the annual Christmas Eve program in which he would discuss and dream about the finer things in life. A little culture in our brash world if you will.
Too bad he is not president now. Nor is there an excuse for black men to create children out of wedlock, then bolt and avoid their responsibility for raising the children. These are not white people's fault and rests soley on the shoulders of the black person doing the decision-making to be a criminal or act immorally. What Ken Hamblin, Larry Elder, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson and to some degree even Bill Cosby, among others, are trying to get across to the black community at large is to accept responsiblity for your own actions and that the groundwork has been laid for anyone, no matter how humble their beginnings, to be successful in this great nation of ours. And I've seen it time after time with people I've met in my life, no matter what their ethnic background might be. Everybody has the opportunity here.

You had me up until you brought up Jesse Lee Peterson. If you don't see him for what he really is, then you are a fool. Jesse Lee Peterson makes his living by saying some of the most ridiculous things about the black community he can conjure up. He says what white conservatives want to say and he is the antithesis to the NAACP and Al Sharpton, and that will always keep him in demand when Fox needs a black person to forgive Dog Chapman and only recognize reverse racism.

@ecmcomichael Some such "leaders" in Buffalo's East Side could use some of the same advice from Messrs. Hamblin, Cosby, Elder, and even Walter Williams/Thomas Sowell right now. Downtown Buffalo recently had a gang-related shooting that eventually got Buffalo's black community enraged more so by the reportage thereof, as opposed to outrage over the self-destructive behaviors in their own ranks.

used to listen to ken when I lived in mobile, and was in denver met him at the airport, talked to him and told him I used to fly a seneca for freight, he wanted me to come see his seneca, had a picture made with him at the plane, was just there last week picking up the hawker and turned around and there was ken's plane, flash back, he is a good guy.

I listened often to the radio show- It was an interesting perspective and most of all, I loved the personal stories- My favorite was the annual Christmas Eve program in which he would discuss and dream about the finer things in life. A little culture in our brash world if you will.

Too bad he is not president now. He is everything BO is not: logical thinking (vs. leading by polling numbers), wise (vs ivy league educated in theories), has real world work experience (vs community organizing) and is color blind (vs using race when it is expedient to his goals). air- What are you talking about, Ken Hamblin's radio show was wonderful. The fact that you called him an uncle tom is very interesting to me. What do you mean by this? Do you mean that he is somehow less black because he has views that are not of the liberal mainstream. Or, are you questioning his intelligance in some way. You also acuse him of making racist statements, do you have any proof of this? I wouldn't think so, I listened to him countless times and never heard a racist comment.

I agree in part. Putting Ken in the Uncle Tom spot seems like 'lumping' as he also is an individual in my opinion. The views he pushed are still prevalent among others like Rush as was mentioned who is going strong. I'm guessing you meant 'racist against "his own people" ' when you said racist. As 'black' individuals this is as good as an oxymoron. Ken pushed a side that needs(ed) to see the light of day .
