  • good bless you for all that work

  • miss my mk3 like mad , your a lucky man .

  • I'd love to do a restoration like this, but I don't really know where to begin, especially with all that rust...

  • It looks like the car was in a really bad way before you restored it judging by the amount of rust all over it. I have one myself and it does have some rust that needed to be repaired but not to the same extent of the one in the video.

  • nice job mate i have a 1983 gina that im working on has abundant rust and im scared that i can't fully get rid of it without major work but i don't know where to sort parts for i am in new zealand any one can point me in the right direction please before it becomes to late

  • gay boy music...

  • mate i honestly love what you have done with it... hopefully mine looks as good as that when mine has been restored! well done!

  • NICE , i get a feeling i've seen this car around the coleshill area of warwickshire. my dad once owned one of these . in a metallic bronze colour , i can remember the registration plate too . it was CJU244K a lovely car !

  • my aunt, she is very sick

  • Those are such attractive, well-made cars. Whether you believe it or not, Ford U.K. was REALLY good to you British! During the 70s, U.S. Ford gave us Yanks rubbish called the Maverick, which they replaced with different rubbish called the Fairmont.

  • nice work on the sills. they looked fucked. i have an XB GS panel van with a 302 and it has so much rust but because of its rarity im willing to go the extra mile. again nice work

  • Nice restoration job. first car i ever had was a mark 3 GXL. MYB 910L. metalic green with the vinyl roof. i was 18, that was 26 years ago!, fuck i feel old. does this one have the little peddle to the left of the clutch peddle that sprays water and works the wipers, it had it on the GXL don't know if it was on all cortinas

  • Very good video, I enjoy watching people restore old cars :D How much did it cost you to repair it? From the looks of it, it was only cosmetic work, so I guess if you knew how to weld etc it would only cost the price of the materials? Also, i'm going to look at a 75' Cortina next week with "gearbox problems", do you know if a new gearbox will be expensive for a car this old?

  • Nice car

  • aaaaawwwwwwwwww bubbles

  • Damn i thought mine was in the worst condition ever when I started the restoration. But you'rs was much worse ! You did a great job man ! Awesome !

  • a lot of work nice job AAAAAAAAAA+

  • nice work, im also working on my one, will upload the photos soon.

  • Nice to see an XL being restored as an XL and not changed to a GXL look a like ! My dad had a 72 2000XL in daytona yellow with a Black vinyl roof, Same wheel trims and chromework, Brought back memories ! HHT 265K where are you now ?

  • What proper-repaired sills should look like!! Great job :)

  • sound motor mate,good luck

  • hello all..i got one cortina mk3 but the problem is where can get i spare part of this car..someone who are can help me??i'm malaysian...

  • hi this is gerard from the phils we have lots of ford cortina parts here especially camshaft from essex england at super low prices due to old stock but they are brand new. the body parts from the mark 3 and 4 models are still plentiful. im a ford cortina fan so im abreast on the parts availability. in fact i have a frined an auto supply owner who still has a brand new rack and pinion steering system for the mark 3 and 4 cortina

  • nice job iv got one mk2, one mk3 2000e and two mk5, i love my cortinas keep up the good work.

  • Here in Canada I've got a Mk3 2.0 L and I dont know if the positive coil wire goes to ignition on or through a relay. If you know it would help.

  • In 1996, I was in the United Kingdom for a student exchange program. They had two Fords, 1987 Serria 4-door hatchback and a 1979/80 Cortina Mark series.

Coming from an American Ford family, it was great to see and learn about Ford models never coming to the states. I really liked how the Cortinas looked in all Mark ranges. I would LOVE to get a wagon model here to the US.

Shame that they are becoming rare, truly a grand car in its own right.

  • How long did it take? Nice job!

  • There's only about 1000 Mk3 Cortinas left now, so that's one less going to the scrapyard. Well done, nice job.

  • New Zealand still has thousands of them

  • @FordPerformanceNZ

Yes, I meant to say that there's only about 1000 left in the UK. Poor rustproofing, the wet UK weather and the passage of time has sadly killed most of them off, so mint ones are now worth quite a bit.

  • 100s

  • really nice job!

  • Brilliant job. Always loved the Mk3 Cortina.

  • deep joy to see this. that work ain't easy. if it was up to me the o.b.e. would be given out for this type of thing. and knighthoods too.

  • Seamless restoration! Car is lucky to have an owner like you.

  • wow good job, looks very nice

  • And a nice job you've done with this car. There are very few of these left now, the Mk4 is even rarer oddly enough. The remaining ones need to be preserved.

  • Yea you never see any mk4 about anymore do you??? strange

  • @buddybonus10 maybe not in united kingdom but the mk4 and 5 are every where here in new zealand the only thing is here the scrap price for A car is $300nzd but the price the wreckers get is $800 to $1200 between that soo all old classics are being crushed and new zealand is 1 of the few places that are behind the times so we get all the shit no other place around the world wants. now a ford sierra from south affrica is rare being a 5L v8 302ci

  • I passed my driving test in a 2 litre Cortina Mk3 estate, and a friend of mine later had a Mk4 2.3 Ghia, which I occasionally drove. So I'll always have a soft spot for Cortinas, they're pretty cool compared to bland modern cars.

  • superb!

  • Cool man. just coll as.

  • Nice job on the car. Ive got a 2000 out here in canada and i need to know where the timing marks are. Do you Know?

  • If you mean the ignition timing they are on the front pulley wheel and just next to it.

  • very nice work, i would like to get a mk3 for my first car

  • Very very nice man. How much did it cost you to rebuild. Particularly, how much did the spray job cost?

  • Hi,I did all the work myself, with all parts paint and a lot of hard work it cost around £500 in total,Thanks Lee

  • nice work pal, nice and original!

  • Nice work!!! Wondering if you could help me out My Dad and I are restoring a 1971 mk3 like yours wondering if you could tell me where you got some of ur parts???

  • oldpartstore on the net is a good website to start, other than that i use ebay

  • he does take ages to post, but always turns up with the goods

  • @buddybonus10 also try rockauto (dot) com they are very cheap and have very good quality parts. i have been buying car parts from them since 2000

  • a good work.

I'm asking if that rusted car worth that amount of job.

  • very nice! its a good profesional job, and a beautiful car! i sad about the fact that here in germany you cant get a cortina ;(

    its my favorit car! ;)

    have fun with yours!!
