But VTEC actually engages at around 4900 rpm. Honda engines have a very smooth power band compared to VVTL-i engines.

You drive a 2zz and you can feel the kick like mad, you have to drive in that powerband though.

Vtec is more forgiving. If you hit lift mid corner in a Celica/Corolla you will plow through it.

Sorry, but a outdated Camaro Z28 will not give you better gas millage. These civics will do 32 mpg combined, and up to 40 mpg on the motorway (for you, highway). These small K20a engines are efficient, plus these Civics will go around corners like the Z28 couldn't imagine. Oh, and the civic is better built, more space and will last longer too. The ONLY thing a Z28 has on a Civic is straight line punch. Even a normal 3.8 Camaro would get raped by this 2.0 Civic (0-60mph in 8.5 vs 6.6) Funny eh?

You think so? This civic costs 30k, a Base 2008 cobalt ss destroys this thing, plus you have extra money to spare, 7k to be exact. A used 2008 corvette is cheaper than this, gets over 25mpg, and eats up corners like crazy.

I really like the Cobalt SS, Sure in a straight line drag-race, the Cobalt SS would win, but the Civic has an awesome manual gearchange, very strong brakes and great steering. When I drove the SS I found it had a massive turnig circle and the steering felt dead (more feel needed.) I do love the Cobalt SS as a budget performance motor, but having driven both I have to say the Civic Type R is the better alround car. And as for Corvette, two totally different machines..

But, tat willow springs, the cobalt beat the Civic, mugen edition by over 10 seconds, not to mention it has better mileage, and much lower price. Also, motor trend tested the cobalt and rated it the best car for under 25k, in which it had the best brakes, best handling, best overall feel, and it an in the 13's.

I am not comparing the two, I was just saying that the civic is way overpriced and overrated. Much better can be bought for cheaper. Look at the Type-r civic that just came out. 45grand for 240hp. A cobalt for half the price gives you 260hp, not to mention faster lap times.

WOW, a car you can't eve get in the us. Not to mention, it costs nearly 50grand, and only has 260hp? HAHAH, at button will, the cobalt beat the cmugen civic by 25 seconds, beating every jap car except the gtr. It runs high 13's in the quarter, gets higher g's in the skidpad than civics, costs much less, and gets better mileage. PLus, how can you tell that the civic that was used wasn't a ringer?You can't.

Plus, you do know that there is only 300 versions of it, and it is barely street legal
