@superherosatlive You can get a 1.8 GHz Core i7 processor in the MacBook Air. You have to get it custom built on the Apple online store, and it is only available on the high end 13 inch model with the 256 GB SSD.

@elliot0712 Are you 12? when I say you can only get i5 with the base model for 13 with 128GB Flash Storage version. Go to apple and select that option and you won't see the i7. If you go with the 256gb version, then yes. There is no 128gb Flash Storage version for core i7. SlashGear never makes clear this point.

So does it have Hyperthreading and Turbo Boost? The processors in it all support both, but they aren't mentioned on the Apple website unlike every other Sandy Bridge Mac, so maybe they disabled them for thermal reasons? Anyone shed some light?

@tipoomaster Why would Apple disable them? Apple wouldn't have used these processors if they overheated in the Macbook Air. These processors are ULV for a reason - perfect for Airs.

They've used throttling in previous gen airs though. Look up the core shutdown issue. I just confirmed with a friend that they do have HT and Turbo Boost in this gen though.

@AppleKpop4EverHD Though I have never owned a Air, I know for a fact that they can handle 1080p YouTube nvideos with ease. I've heard people say that they video edit and photo edit just fine on these Airs. Though rendering, exporting, anything processor-related would be quite slower than the iMac or Mac Pro.

@AppleKpop4EverHD I wouldn't pick the Air for gaming. The previous generation of Airs had the Nvidia Geforce 320M graphics card. It's a bit better than the current Intel HD 3000, plus it's integrated meaning it'll have to use some of your RAM. So, I'm sure it'll play Steam games fine. You couldn't play Crysis or WoW on the highest settings though. Why don't you check out the benchmarks on the two video cards. The Air will be perfect for you since you aren't a heavy editor. =)

@AppleKpop4EverHD actually, macbook pros are not neccesserily the better choice because they don't come base with a solid state drives, so they cannot load videos at high speeds like the macbook air can, but it does have higher processing speeds, but i would go with the air overall, I'm actually going to upgrade to the new one soon

why is everyone obsessed with backlit keyboards just runs down the battery life, people spending that amount of money on macs should be capable of touch typing in the dark anyway and if in the dark the screen light the keyboard enough, back lit keyboard is pointless, custom built top spec 11inch macbook air would be great but no point in getting the 13inch one when you can get a macbook pro 13 inch

@10qpalzmm To each his own. Some people like having the backlit keyboard for other reasons. It's cooler looking. Some people are forced to turn down screen brightness and can't see the keyboard. And, what does the amount of money you have have to do with their typing skills?

P.S. The MacBook AIR's main purpose is to be portable. A 13-inch MBA is obviously better than a 13-inch MBP if you need portability.
