I am focused. the land was bought and paid for with taxpayers mony and than defended with taxpayer blood.I lost my brother in nam and my grampa in ww2 dont tell me i did nothing to earn it please.giving the right to drill without getting a return on that investment is the as communist as it gets. if you want tosell something you will get the best deal you can and thats all im saying we should demand a better deal.
thats good if i come into your back yard and dig for oil its mine right good. oh i get it as long as it isn't on your property. Tax payer monies bought and maintain that land and it belongs to all of us and we decided not to let them just take it. besides it is a piss in the ocean compared to what we need it won't change a thing.
You really need to stay focused. You're throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks.
1) If you come onto my property without my permission and find out, it is mine;
2) The government did nothing to maintain the property. It should have been given to someone, who could then sell it to the oil companies to drill if not drilled by the owner himself;
3) The Amount of Oil in Alaska is enough to make us virtually energy independent in the next 10 years. Clinton vetoed drilling 10 years ago.
It is on land that belongs to all of us. not the stockholders of exxon . It does indeed belong to all of us. It is all good because you can cry all ya want come nov. we will decide then.the oil companies do nothing to earn it . they now hold many leases they will not explore for fear that the supply will increase and profit come down.
People this is OUR oil not exon mobles or shell It belongs to the tax payers and i for one am not willing to just give it away to anyone. hell i will start a company today willing to drill in alaska for a 15% return with no risk. But this is not good enough they want it all and not give anything in return. It is our oil lets make it work for us.
No, it is the oil of people who extract it. You or I did NOTHING to get it out of the ground and we have no rights to it. I'm sick of socialists like you who think you own something by sitting on your rear end somewhere in the same country as others who do the work for you.
Slavery already was abolished, and I'm not going to allow stalinists like you to enslave the minority to the majority will via force of arms from the government.
Im not against drilling in alaska BUT I know how this works we give leases to oil companies.
They give us less then pennies on a dollar to see huge profits and we still get creamed at the pump. How about this The feds hire a company to drill and receive a 15 percent return and the rest of the monies go to pay down the debt that bush and this war and the tax breaks for the rich that didn't create even one middle class job
The solutions are staring congress in the face...the American people must demand congress to take action. Probably wouldn't hurt for congress to read the Bill of Rights and Constitution again because they have no idea how we got to be the richest and most powerful country in history. Congress has done nothing besides pass polices that hold us down...we need to kick them all out. Republican or democrat i don't care...they all must go!
I believe this is the same congressman that asked why we are only running our oil refineries at 83% as if running them at 100% would solve the problem. Congress hasn't allowed a new refinery since the 70's. Big oil holds less than 5% of the entire world's oil giving us no control on the GLOBAL MARKET. Why not give the oil companies a big pat on the back with huge tax breaks to get them to find our own oil...besides they pay more in taxes than all the American people put together!
Iranian President Mohammad Mosaddeq moves to nationalize the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company in order to ensure that more oil profits remain in Iran. His efforts to democratize Iran had already earned him being named Time Magazine's Man of the Year for 1951. After he nationalizes it, Mosaddeq realizes that Britain may want to overthrow his government, ... stage the coup it desires, so it approaches the American intelligence community for help.
Their first approach results in abject failure when Harry Truman throws the British representatives out of his office, stating that "We don't overthrow governments; the United States has never done this before, and we're not going to start now." After Eisenhower is elected in November 1952, the British have a much more receptive audience, and plans for overthrowing Mosaddeq are produced. .... This argument wins over the Eisenhower administration, who promptly decides to organize a coup in Iran
We gave them the technology to get the oil out of the ground so long as they dealt with us, and then they tried to steal all of the oil. They would still be living in abject poverty if it wasn't for our technology.
They tried to steal from you so your spread false information about Mosaddeq being communist so now the world has to deal with rogue Moslem Iran, oil companies have no credibility, lobbyists & scum of earth
Bush/ chenny destroyed america because he's in bed with big oil
You are against drilling because it is not a long-term solution? Yes it is: You could plow all of Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas and it wouldn't supplement more that 15% of America's energy need. You could do the same with win or solar power, and you'd get less.
This has nothing to do with lobbiest. If you want to build wind power, solar power, or the electric car....do it yourself and stop waiting for the government to force others to do it for you.
We have enough oil to last 1000 years, and at last it comes out. You don't care about people, you're an environmentalists that wants a mystical clean land for yourself at the expense of everyone else's liberty.
Please tell me you are not referring to Brazil...Their energy demand is less than 15% of ours.
No country can go off oil without starving their population. That's just a fact.
You don't even know what a tax break is either. A Tax break by definition means the oil companies are producing a product that the people want, and the oil companies make a profit. Then they can keep their money.
You Stalinists produce nothing, and leach of the product of others.
Oil companies flexed their muscle in the Senate to block the move to exclude them from a federal tax break given to all U.S. manufacturers in 2004, said Dan Weiss, director of climate strategy at the Center for American Progress in Washington. The largest five oil companies spent $37.3 million lobbying last year and made $12.3 million in campaign contributions, he said.
What does one have to do with the other. If you remove regulations, there is no need for them to lobby. Moreover, that has nothing to do with the reality that we need the oil, or we all freeze to death.
It is also so intellectually dishonest to claim you are against lobbyists. I'm sure you will denounce the Teacher's unions, or the American's for Progress itself as they are a lobbying group.
Corporations in America pay the highest corporate tax in the entire world. They are not allowed to drill anywhere, and people want to tax them more, which just means that we will pay for for everything we purchase.
We are not going to run out of Oil for 1000s of years. We have more coal than Saudi Arabia has oil, which can be converted to oil. We can drill in Alaska, and off the coast of cuba.
Brazil in fact just found more oil off their coast, but we are begging the Saudi's to produce more
The oil companies are raping the consumer. Exxon/Mobil is the largest offender. Stop buying Exxon/Mobil products, they will be forced to lower their prices and the other smaller companies will have to follow.
There is not a magical red button that oil executives press that determines the cost of gas. It's simple supply and demand and commodity pricing. If you want cheap oil, reduce worldwide demand and create peace in the middle east. Good luck with that.
I don't work for oil companies, I just can read a supply and demand graph.
Stop your Marxist rhetoric. I don't work for an oil company. It is abject stupidity that you marxists think that all disagreement must have an economic incentive. I MUST be getting paid by the oil companies.
How about the FACT that it is the government that is screwing us?
Stop blaming the environmentalists. The Car companies should have been making more fuel efficient cars a LONG time ago. Thank all the retards who feel the need to drive a HUMMER that gets about 8MPG. The retards with HUGE trucks that don't need to haul anything other than their own phallic insecurities. These are the morons wasting gas. If we spent more time conserving gas we wouldn't have a demand so high that prices must increase drastically to supply that demand.
Car companies only make cars that meet consumer demand, if there is/was a demand for fuel efficient cars they would make them, if there was/is a demand for Hummers they make hummers, if they don't meet the demands, they go out of business and someone else makes the fuel efficient car. Blame consumers and who are you to mandate that I can't drive a truck, you're aren't the politburo, if I want to drive a truck I CAN, i'll just have to pay more for gasoline, it's simple.
Stupid consumers? People have a right to buy whatever they can afford to buy.
People on the left believe that people's only purpose in life is to produce for society. That they have no right to reap the benefits of their own labor and wealth and to do with it as they see fit.
You believe that people are property of society that can be disposed of because it makes your life more convenient.
By the way, show me where people get tax breaks for buying SUVs?
Congress recently passed a tax bill, as proposed in President Bush's economic stimulus plan, that offers a $100,000 tax credit for business owners who purchase any vehicle weighing 6,000 pounds or more when fully loaded.
When Wizinsky's accountant told him about the credit last year, the amount was much less, at $75,000, but it was enough to encourage Wizinsky to trade in his Mercury Marquis for the Excursion.
And no consumers no NOT have the right to destroy env.
Meanwhile, legislation that offers a much smaller tax break — a $2,000 tax deduction — to those who purchase fuel-efficient hybrid cars is on track to be phased out. Congress is considering legislation that would extend the tax deduction to encourage consumers to buy the hybrid cars, but the status of the bill remains uncertain.
Yes and no.. We SHOULD have been making fuel efficient cars, we should have been drilling and refining, we should have built nuclear power plants, we should have invested in alternative energy. The dems are the ones who killed energy prosperity in this country. Oil companies are not allowed to make a profit but Walmart, Home Depot, Best Buy, and Costco can? Heaven forbid the oil company makes a profit. But yet Exxon is the blame and they only handle 2% of the world's consumption.
sure the government is to blame, but oil is just as corrupt, they have lobbists, they lie about environment, they have their own agenda, I find it hard to believe people think they are trustworthy, Exon is one of the most corrupt companies in the world. CEO makes over 100 million. Yes government should start with Chenny, Halburton then work down, oil is going to run out, it is not the solution,
So what if the CEO makes 100 million if people are willing to pay him that much. If you don't regulate oil, there is no reason for them to lobby for anything.
We didn't overthrough either country for oil...there is just no evidence of that.
Moreover, you simply spew the typical Marxist slogan of how I couldn't possibly believe what I believe....I must be getting paid.
If we go off oil, over 1 million people starve by the end of the year. It is just a fact. You live in a fantasy world. Oil is what brings food and everything else to the masses and what allows us to work.
By the way. It is interesting how off-track you have taken this argument.
The fact of the matter is that supply and demand dictates the price of oil, and you went off on a tangent about lobbying and iraq and Iran and everything else under the sun.
We drill here at home, we don't need to deal with any other country.
people don't trust oil companies to act in responsible way anymore thats why there is big push to prohibit drilling. BP is pumping more polution than ever into lake Michigan at the same time they are making record profits
look at halburton, how corrupt can a company be they destroyed iraq for oil, lobbists, lies, murder, America overthrough Iran gov in 1953 coup for oil, in general oil companies like walmart are scum
Responsible way? You have no business telling them how to run their company. You did nothing to get the oil, you are a person sitting the bench telling the players how they should be playing.
the republicans were responsible for SUV tax break not the dems, you got more of tax break for buying SUV than hybrid in 2002, so no you can't point your finger at 1 party they all suck, the republicans are the ones responsible for shiping manufacturing jobs to China, h1b visas abuse, displacing middle class americans
Ha!......"OUR" tax dollars are in china and Iraq !! Mr. 1234 Ya economic nitwit. This administration and obviously yourself, Support the (Pinko) free market!
The real joke of this is that the government makes a higher profit on oil than the oil companies. The ethynol scam is another reason food prices are rising higher and higher. They all should be impeached.
And what are we going to do when the planet runs out of oil, doctor dick head?
