  • What people sometimes fail to realize is that you can actually pull these lapel chokes on the streets if someone is wearing a nice leather jacket. I have tried it with friends and it works just as it does with a Gi. Many people look at these techniques and think, "oh that wouldn't really work on the streets". If your opponent is wearing any sort of a jacket on the street, That's a "Gi fight" my friends.

  • @kanguesso i did it on my friend, he only had a t-shirt. of course i ripped his t-shirt badly

  • @iistyleszii Next time double up on the fabric you grab and pull slowly. These chokes will work with a handkerchief or a couple of heavy duty paper towels if you do it right. A T-shirt will do just fine.

  • @kanguesso The gi's relation to self defense is something I've only recently come to realize. I now believe that gi training is closer to real life than no-gi. I mean, no one walks around in a rash guard and grappling shorts. Even a collared shirt would work just fine.

  • @kifn2 That's what i have always been trying to convey to people. Many people look at Gi BJJ and think it is unrealistic when it comes to street fights because the GI techniques cannot be applied in a no Gi fight. However, in order for a street fight to be a truly no gi fight, you attacker or opponent would have to come at you in a speedo. How often do you see a street fight where people are wearing no close? If that was the case, Judo would also be useless in a street fight.

  • @kanguesso gi is more realistic in street situation. MMA, no gi is more realistic. MMA is a sport, and I am not a thug, so wont put myself into a street situation. just run-the-fuck-away. There is no pride in a fight with no prize. lol

  • @bjjbruin LOL
