  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! Please?

  • SO AMAZING

  • it's cool that you included 3 other ports

  • you sell it?

  • is there one of thies you would consider selling ?

  • Do you have a guide for how you created this?

I have a retro game shop close to where I live and would love to attempt this. I miss my N64 I grew up on.

  • Sure, I did a 20 video guide for making a portable from scratch. If you join my forum there are a wealth of reference data too, and we can help you in your project too.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Ok thanks for the info! I will take a browse and join your community when I can :D.

  • i would not buy one. its more impressive to make one

  • Good, that is the preferred option. I prefer to help people with their hobby not to use my hobby as a business, which is why my forum is very content rich. Join the forum!

  • I want one of these.

    So.

    Bad.

  • What if you need to use both the D-pad and the Joy Stick?

  • o my god its amazing i am a huge nintendo fan and would love to have one of those r u going to it like the last one

  • QUIERO UNO YA

  • I wish they sold these in stores

  • This is so cool..... I wish they sold these in stores

  • This is one of the most nice looking ones I have ever seen o.o

  • on the nintendo controller there's a z button on the back..

    where is it on here.?

  • ...on the back!

  • its steve koogan..a,haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • how much it cost to make me a dreamcast portable

  • @slimredshady1 go on moddedbybacteria website, register on the forum and post a topic asking for a comission... ;)

  • Looks good!

I have a question though.. How is the N64 supported on a 16:9 screen? (Since N64s were made for CRT TVs)

  • Some games (not many) have widescreen mode; however rest are a bit stretched. Personally I prefer 4:3 screens, however some prefer widescreen.

  • just realized the GBA case is great case design for these mods

  • Comment removed

  • wtf is a zed?

  • not a zelda player? *unsubscribe*

  • I noticed you reversed the position of the a and b buttons relative to the c buttons. Seems like it would be a bit awkward.

  • Yes, correct. I just thought putting them in reverse was easier to use, as it turned out, made no difference, so may as well kept as it was!

  • how much is it to make. I watched your other videos on makeing a portable so i was intrested in making oneand what case you would recomend for a begginer

  • how much do you charge to make one of these?

  • can you give me some details on the battery used for the screen?

im building a PS2 portable and i've got everything except from the battery for the PS2 and the screen.

i got the monitor for 20$ as new! :D

  • Are there any readily available 7 in screens that you would recommend?

  • I'm not aware of the best 7" screens and small boards inside; I think the Philips one has a small board; other issue is image quality; many seem not great quality; i'm sure there must be good quality ones with small boards inside, just not sure which ones.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Can you post a link to the screen you used?

  • dmbjunky bought it for the project; it was a MadCatz screen. Use a different one.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA I meant for the Phillips one

  • Have a check on my forum, there is a post, either in the screen section, N64 section or work in progress section that shows the Philips screen and also the small motherboard inside; and pics.

  • What 7" screen did you use and where did you get it? Thanks :)

  • He supplied a MadCatz 7" screen - I wouldn't recommend it, the screen image is good but a little wavy and there are two thick mothrboards inside; there are some with much slimmer boards, I think the Philips one is such.

  • I'm sorry if i'm being rude but why do most europeans refer to the z button as the zed button?

  • Because we speak English and not a derivative of it. lol

"Z" is pronounced "zed" not "zee"

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA

depends if you are american or canadian

  • @64ddking Canadians also say ZED

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA

How would it cost me to commission you to build the red one you have before for me?

    -James

    (please reply i'm serious)

  • I'm taking commissions at the moment; have one current project in the making (SNES), an N64 for someone else; and then if you're commissioning me, yours...

The format of the current two above have GBA style screen surround and will be awesome!

My rate is £400-£430 for handheld N64, NES or SNES (PAL system), £15 postage UK or £25 otherwise; if you want NTSC then i'll discount for you to provide NTSC screen+console. 50% deposit, 50% before posting. PM me if want to proceed for options.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA can you tell me how much this is in USA currency?

  • About $660 ish

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA wow! thats a little out of my price range. haha. would it be any cheaper if i sent you the N64 consel and a case of my own? i'm just not good with wiring and that kind of stuff.

  • Something around 60-75% of time is spent on making a case and getting the buttons and controls installed; the remaining time getting the electronics in there and working. If you provided a case completed then as long as the case is suitable we could come to a much cheaper price of course; if the cases were blank, needed sanding, painting, buttons installed, and finishing, not enough time saving in reality. PM me your thoughts and pics of what you have.

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA I'm definitely interested in that! Only that I may not be able to get the money for some time, I'll PM you in the future when I can :) Also, one question, is that the console humming or something else because i know the fan you include helps the console but it is a bit annoying?

  • Camera always makes fans sound noisier. Fan is making a noise, yes, however a fan is needed or system gets too hot. Sure, let me know when you have funds, don't take too long though! ;o)

  • I WANT TO BUY IT~!!!

  • tell me if i'm missing something (i have the following) controllers, system, soldering iron, tact switches, console wires

  • @7fulgore7 looks like your missing a screen and a case?

  • ok so i've made my decision, i'm going to make a portable snes because gcube is in the hard section, all i need is a case, battery pack, solder, dremel, and possibly something else

  • OMG Good Work ! i want it in home :D i love NBA hang time and Bomberman 64 !!

  • Awesome job bac! Very nice looking case aswell! I will be starting two new portables soon and documenting on your forums as allways.

    -Sam

  • Cool!

  • why not keep the original button layout?

  • It has "C" buttons above, "A" and "B" below so is similar.

  • Holy loud fan!

  • It isn't loud in reality; just in the background.

  • ho wmuch for it

  • Excellent work.

  • Do a ps2 slim, inside a ps2 fat.

    Would be awesome...

  • lol - any benefit?

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA Other then portable ps2, not really... i dont have the money required to start on it myself, much less get comission it

  • I need to understand why you aren't rich yet.

  • Next one i'm making will be SNES, then another N64, however that one will be much more like a GBA in style and large buttons, than this one was; this one was made to customer specs in many regards.

  • Wow!!!

  • If I had the experience, time, and money to do this, it would be almost exactly like this. All the ideas I have for one is already put into this. Too bad I don't have £430 to spend. :(

  • Haha, BIGDADDY. Nice work, looks solid.

  • Yes, I know' "bigdaddy", lol. That was the save game the guy had before he donated the game cart to me!

  • nice to see it done", the body looks a little rough around the right hand buttons, really nice job though,

  • The area is a little raised yes, just a tad, the buyer is fine with it though. I've since found a way to avoid that happening again and will adopt on next projects. Modding always has techniques and improvements to adopt!

  • Fan is pretty loud.

  • Cool

  • *Jizz*

  • System works for 2 hours 50 mins on a full charge; which is quite acceptable!

  • It costs about the same as a 3DS in parts alone, let alone labour to put it together; which puts it to the £400-£430 plus postage (£15 / £25) I have to charge for commissions. I have two more commissions in the pipeline, deposits paid up front; so will be more videos in the next weeks.

  • that's pretty cool

too bad it probably costs more than a 3ds.
