  • What's with the Irish references? St Andrew is patron Saint of Scotland; St Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland.....with regard to the song, this is great! Nice to hear Meg's vocals.

  • I love how this album had a sound from different cultures...this one actually makes me want to return to an irish dancing class for a day :P

  • Jack's dad died on St Andrews day. So someone told me that this song was a tribute to his father.

  • my names Andrew :)

  • im confused...

  • St. Andrew pray for us.

  • it's like a big frigging salad of sounds, and meg white's voice is the dressing

  • Who knew Scottish and Indian rock would sound cool together?

  • I believe St. Andrew may stand for a concert hall from Detroit. Partying there!

    Does anybody know for sure?

  • @giseba7 No, St. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland. The song is probably talking about a Scot who's somewhere else and/or has fallen out of faith, thus "I'm not in my home" and "St. Andrew don't forsake me".

  • @DEMchannel

Maybe based on St. Andrew. But also a music hall in Detroit, could be an influence. ;-)

  • this song truly demonstrate's jack's ridiculous and eccentric musical mind

  • i'm, travaling backwards in XTC!

  • is this track right before/right after Prickly Thorn?

  • this needs to be bigger :<

  • @abcpokemon95 u takin bout ur didck?? LOL

  • @awesomeNH if you're going to insult a random commenter from six months ago at least write it correctly douchebag

  • @abcpokemon95 god, I was just trying to get a laugh....fuck

  • thank god 4 the irish pipe properbravo

  • is there a treadmill sound in this song?

  • stevom yur bang on there pal, americans seem to forget that, they usually jus dismiss us completely lol infact scotland dusnt even exist to them, even though youve just named a good few of their great artists with scottish blood in them, and even though weve pretty much invented the modern world were still skirt wearin castle dwelllers to them lol fkn douchebags lol

  • theres a lot of great artists from america that have scottish descent..johny cash jim morrison, elvis pressley? to name but a few theres something bout being scottish that never leaves you, its like a fire burning inside yer soul

  • EPIC EPIC OF THE EPIC EPICNES!

  • this is so cool

  • This and "Prickly Thorn" are my favorite songs on the album.

When she talks of ecstasy, I know she is talking the real type , not the drug.

  • Meg White FTW! Best female drummer ever!

  • IT IS MEG. Voice alterations is not an old thing for The White Stripes. Listen to Meg's "Who's a Big Baby?" That's her voice ran through a Digitech Wammy pedal set one octave up.

  • it takes an awesome band to make bagpipes sound cool.

  • I want a white stripe

  • white stripes is awesome

  • I love this.

  • i love this. i get the little suspicion she's in hell.

  • wtf?

  • this song is so awesome, I live atop an irish pub and they play this song all the time

  • @annyongSC But st. Andrew is the patron saint of scottland?

  • Why does Jack/Meg's voice give me such chills?

am I the only one here? It's that shocking feeling like when you get hit in the chest and can't breathe

Good shit if it can do that...

  • No you're not the only one I have the exact same feeling =D

  • strange music....

  • Ok, everyone. I have the CD. Yes. Ok. I conceed. It's Meg White.

  • I'm listening to part 6 of "Time Bandits" and the music is very similar. The scene where the midgets kidnap Kevin from his new life with Sean Connery. Time Bandits uses some sort of flute. This sounds like Bag Pipes. But, it's kind of similar. Not really. I think it is inspired by Time Bandits. We'll have to ask Jack White.

  • the girl talking ruins it

  • What are you talking about "the girl talking ruins it"...I actually think that's Jack White talking in high speed (like Alvin the Chipmonk) It's not ruined, it's part of the piece. He's praying to Saint Andrew. There's like six or seven layers of melody and rhythm happening here. You just don't get it. You need to listen more closely.

  • wow i had no idea. thanks for telling me, it makes the song better

  • anberglund, you are correct about everything except for Jack White talking in high speed.

It is Meg White talking normally.

  • I think you're wrong. It sounds nothing like Meg speaking normally. It sounds like a child's voice, but the voice-cadence is all Jack White. I actually just called the White Stripe's Management Company. I'm waiting on a definitive answer. It just does not sound like Meg White. Listen to "Passive Manipulation" - That's Meg White. The voice on St. Andrew is NOT a "normal" voice. The speed has been manipulated. I still don't think it's Meg White. I'd bet money it's Jack White's voice.

  • It's meg white. the cd credits her on the song.

  • Ok, it's Meg White. I was wrong.

  • How do you know this? Where is the webpage *The Proof* that that voice is Meg White? Provide a link.

  • no it's meg

  • That's been established. I get it.. ok.
