  • Dinesh D'Souza, Shmuley Boteach, Nassim Taleb = deluded

    Robert Wright= confused

Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett = need i say more?

  • Where is the chick in the thumbnail?

  • Ozzy and Russell from Survivor are in the audience!

  • boteach really lets his side down. all he does is whine about how religious people are viewed as idiots instead of actually making good arguments, which is totally possible from the religious side.

  • @zackhanscom And in the process proving the atheist's point that religious people are not making any good arguments...

  • Normally I love stuff like this, but the opposition just has no idea what it's talking about. It's obnoxious tol listen to these people.

  • The first guy to speak english is a fucking moron.

  • Love the tribute to Kierkegaard

  • Shmuley is a fool-ey

  • This host has this dickish nature about him that's hard to ignore.

  • im tired of running into the argument, a bit generous i know, of "i dont know therefore god." somewhat sad to see it still be used

  • the girl laughed when he said climax...quite mature

  • At 12.38 the first speaker claims the bible speaks of "from mineral to vegetable to animal to intellectual". Can anyone point to WHERE in any bible there is any such claim? Thanks

  • a quantos polacos estomacos un burito...Dos! mouahahahahahaha!

  • D'Souza's ignorance is appalling to the point of annoyance.

  • Taking the humour out of Hitch's speech (due to the language barrier) did lessen its impact :O(

  • It's funny to hear the desperation in the voices and subject matter of the religious arguments. I don't think they made one valid convincing point between them.

  • The Audience, for whom English is probably their second language, are missing a lot of the subtlety.

  • @HENJAM48 Hahaha, I noticed they didn't laugh at Boteach's joke at all...

  • i cant stand the first speaker at 650

  • I thought Hitchens was excellent.

  • D'Souza? Go live in a Cave then. Don't use any technology.

  • 17:10 is When Sam Harris, the first sane English speaker comes up.

  • the first guy's jokes failed on almost every level.

  • I fucking hate how D'Souza always states what he wants to do for a whole minute, then go off in another direction, then disregard his original direction, then finish as if he actually addressed the issue.

I know it's a debate, and he takes on the side that's most likely to simply not win, but damn is he fucking frustrating to listen to sometimes.

Makes good points. Makes darn good valid(though not always sound) points, but fucking get onto it already!

  • @Ebvardh D'Souza made 'a good point'?

  • Im interested to hear what all these jokes people in the audience keep whispering to each other

  • English-starts at 6:50. Upvote so that others can save those precious minutes..

  • @bronzmash thx;)

  • @skubersteve24 yeah if you disagree with any of it your not a TRUE believer, id rather not believe and still have my moral and the understanding of science and historical events and understand that there hasnt been any record of the suspension of the natural order. examples resurrections and prayer healing. im actually in awe that you cant see whats wrong with what your trying to tell everyone...

  • @blindedbro resurrections are not proven... and prayer healing is criminal...literally criminal...to tell a person that God can heal cancer through prayer IS disgusting.

  • @skubersteve24 i agree, but im not worried about those arguements any more, prayer healing has been refuted and i guess vicarious ressurection is a matter of opinion of whether its moral or not

  • I love how Boteach says, "The miracles of modern technology" just after taking stabs at science. By using miracles, he is actually claiming that god created the projection screen.

  • @holdenF4200 Selective bias. Many are so eager to dismiss facts until they need them to support their argument. Whether it be newage nonsense, or theism. Even w/o saying miracles, he'd be saying his god created that projection screen. God did it is the answer to all the questions of life. Any mumbling about methods of how it's done for them is just a talking point so that they might pimp their god bullshit.

  • Taleb rules

  • The Jew's really good at chewing scenery, not very good at making solid arguments for his theistic case.

  • I just came here for 3 things: Harris, The Hitch, and the hot brunette in the video's thumbnail.

  • @PaladinHero - Not the bearded gay guy?

  • @Rocketryman ...No. The hot little punky piece of ass brunette next to him.

  • @PaladinHero I'm lazy and can't be bothered to watch the whole thing. Where is she?

  • @adamb696969 That's the kicker of it; I never saw her! It's still worth watching when you've got the time and inclination and there are other PoA in the audience, but I never could find the one from the thumbnail.

  • "YOU'RE AN ATHEIST THEREFOR YOU WANT TO EUTHANIZE HANDICAPPED CHILDREN!" /debate

  • 7:00 to skip the intro

  • Boteach's oratory style may work in front of a room of believers, but it really doesn't fit in an intellectual debate.

  • @GeneralGuitFiddle Come to think of it, D'Souza also does the testifyin' church voice like some kind of asshole.

  • So the first guy comes out and says listen I have no idea what evolution is, but I will build a straw man and burn it down. These guys are insulting our intelligence. At least bring theistic panelists who are brave enough to admit their faith is a faith.

  • Replace all three Theists with William Lane Craig and you have a decent challenge.

  • @FascistRabbit89 craig is one of the most deceptive, malicious and evil people alive today. The world wont skip a beat when he dies and will instead breathe a sigh of relief.

  • A number that has 3 million zeros behind it and then the same number having 3 hundred thousand zeros behind doesn't sound very accurate. First guy is a fool.

  • Wow, Taleb is supposed to be a professional apologist?

And you want me to take you seriously?

  • There are subliminal/hidden messages in this video, probably added by the uploader.

It seems you can't catch it, but stop the video on 1:08:03, for example and plainly watch it to 1:08:11. When the time lapses 1:08:08, you see this message that cannot be freezed but some of the words are Warning and Nothing. I can't figure out the rest.

    What is it about?

  • @Baxary it says: Warning: Nothing to output in Bframe decoder tag

    I don't think it's a subliminal message...

  • The audience clearly doesn't understand shit of what speakers are saying. No facial expressions, no anticipation and enthusiasm. Who would arrange an english debate in monolingual Spain anyway?

The religious got heavily beaten though. AGAIN.

  • Dinesh has his head somewhere I'd rather not want to visualize

  • That fucking rabbi cant accept that love and morality doesnt necessarily have to be explained with such a mechanical view of evolution. His perception of evolution is this social Darwinist, survival of the fittest, lets discard the sick babies like the Spartans did, and if you don't think that way, its obviously not fitting his definition of evolution, and "those atheists morality comes from religion." HOLY SHIT!! I just had a mental electrical fire.

  • If you skim through this, its obvious the religion proponents are cheerleaders that ARE TOTALLY CERTAIN WITHOUT A DOUBT (Arrogant much?). The atheists gentleman provide facts, from which you can infer something and be most likely to be correct in taking the position that your not sure there is no god because its not falsifiable, but the highest probability is that there is no god.

  • Les falto Jiddu Krishnamurti, para que eduque a todos.

pues ninguno da la razon principal de sus Especulaciones, que solo son eso.

  • speculation is not facts, either way atheist or religious.

  • goddamn dinesh is stupid. how could you stand in front of a room full of people and say such rubbish (And they clapped?!)

  • That nobody in England has sex joke went over really well....

  • 1:08:00

This is close to when Hitch yells "Shame, shame!" and calls attention to the harmful misinformation that was about to be spread.

  • can't believe Evolution was even in the debate, let alone dominated the debate.. Evolution is fact.

  • Ever notice how the religious speakers huff and puff and raise the pitch of their voices, and the atheists remain calm and speak in measured tones.

I'm generalizing, but it just seems to go that way more often than not...

  • @mistermatt157 Very good point, the religious speakers seem to be masters on playing to emotion.

  • Fucking despicable Rabbi

  • Oh that was Hillarious irony with him using Aushwits for "Escaping After-life Justice" since the Nazi's believed God was on their side, and would be proptly burning Jews in Hell for not accepting Jesus into their chosen yet greedy hearts (using both racist stereotypes).

If morals without God are merely personal tastes, then please let us know your personal tastes so that we may judge you, as to whether you understand true morality or not.

  • @letsomethingshine Auschwitz* I just had to correct you to be a Grammar Nazi. Pun intended.

  • Boy this DeSouza guy is beyond idiot!!!

  • 1:08:57 - Ok, now this guy really needs a Hitchslap, or even a Harris slap.

  • wow Shmuley Boteach is a complite joke

  • Good lord this Boteach guy. He is just a showman. And he gets his calculations about mutation probabilities dead wrong. His premises themselves are wrong. And how do we know that? Well, those of you who agree with him, please go read a biology book.

  • I can't believe Taleb is on the religious freak's side!

  • Comment removed

  • I hope Harris performs better here than he did at N.D. I find it hard to take him seriously not just because of his age, but I see he's more of an axe-grinder than a truth-seeker. I kid you not, all Harris did the ENTIRE TIME versus Craig was string along a bunch of snarky rhetoric, each snippet of which translated to, "We still debating, but just so ya know, there's no god. Tee hee!" Thus at the end of the day his point came out to be: "There is no god because there is no god." Bravo, Sam.

  • 45:06... kid to the left of the screen; sleeping?!!??

  • "Science hasn't given us anything, and it shows no prospect of giving us anything in the future," he sneered from within the fog of smug conviction issuing from his pores like smoke curling from a winter chimney.

  • Wait...did that whole rambling trip down Bullshit Lane with contestant number three, Taleb I think, amount to Pasquale's Wager? What a twat.

  • As a father of a special needs child, i resent the idea that she is "nothing but a burden", as he put it.

  • dude, i saw a lot of debates form these people but this Boteach guy makes always the same argument about mutation and it is refuted EVERY time and he just keeps using it. as his he chooses what he is truth and what is not... oh wait...

  • 36:00 Rough translation for Hitchen's intro:

'Wow, what a morning! Ladies and gentlemen, also someone who's an intellectual leader, without any doubt, who wishes to address these issues thoroughly and to be a rebel, a contrarian in the strictest sense of the word. You have to know him in depth, Chris Hitchens.'

Sorry for the bad structure :)

  • Is it me or was the first guy just making things up?

  • @Realityprogramming That's kinda the modus operandi of theists, sugar.

  • @Realityprogramming no, he probably heard them from someone else.

  • @Realityprogramming Harris?

  • @Realityprogramming more like he was absolutely batshit insane

  • @Realityprogramming yeah he doesnt seem very good at debating

  • 15:40 - "religion gives us the power to chose". really? according to religion you're just an imperfect being that sinned and you need to feel sorry, because a perfect being made you perfect, you just "broke" yourself

  • "science hasn't given us anything and shows no prospect of giving us anything in the future". 1:16:53. 'Nuff said.

  • @TheAlProductions I like how he said that into a microphone, that it was recorded by a camera and uploaded on the internet with the help of computers. Some people are too stupid for words.

  • @kablamo9999 I know right. Irony and hypocrisy overload.

  • @TheAlProductions Bahahahahaha

  • @TheAlProductions maybe he's just a really bored troll. It can be the only explanation

  • dafuck?

  • I respect allot of Christian apologetic debaters. However, this is one of the worst debates I've seen them participate in. The first debater was just a joke. His arguments are wayyyy to easy to debunk

  • I really don't understand what the point of Wright being there, or taking part in a debate like this is. While he could be definied as an agnostic, there is no value of that position in a debate like this. HE's talking out of both sides of his mouth, and his entire commentary was more like a politician than someone that had something to say. I found no claims, or arguments at all in his speaking. It's more or less him trying to appeal to everyone and not offend anyone.

  • @Reip187 I looked him up and he has written books on this subject, but I haven't read any of them. It seems crazy that he has because he really appears here as someone that hasn't really ever thought about all this in detail. More I looked at his views the more it was Captain Obvious, or completely blind to the real world.

  • I don't think I've ever seen Dennett debate before. Guess I should look into it since I've seen tons of Hitch, Harris, and Dawkins before. Of course I am getting tired of listening to these religious douchebags and the religion argument in general since it is pointless and their arguments make my brain bleed.

  • D Souza is an idiot.

  • To Dinesh, whether the universe is finite or infinite has no bearing on whether there is another realm such as heaven or whatever. I suppose it would have to be another universe which only the supreme being could transport you there.

  • life after death-the evidence?

  • It's the theists that are claiming to know, for certain, that there is an afterlife.

An atheist is not making any truth claim about reality as it comes to the afterlife.

It is such a shame that so many people cannot be satisfied with "I don't know, but I'll be damned if I won't spend my life trying to find out." No, they have to make up something, just because they cannot stand not knowing.

  • @Arcexey People will rather believe anything than nothing.

  • As I'm sure a lot of us do, I think about if I'd ever be able to have a conversation with people like D'souza and talk about religion. I have an innate feeling that he would come up with something and destroy me and I'd look so dumb. But.. the first thing he said I already have several objections to, ones that I feel I could put right in his face: No atheist is saying "there is no afterlife" we're saying 'we don't know, but there's no reason for us to believe there is."

  • @BigerFaterTony Harris is incredible indeed.

  • This is a good to the public and the truth will come up and the lies will disappear and fadeaway

  • The audience looks religiously bored.

  • D Souza is using a preposterous analogy. It would be more accurate to say a religious believer is investing his life savings and imagining all the perfect characteristics of a woman he plans on marrying who might not exist and for which there is no evidence for.

  • I like D'Souza's argument of "I DON'T KNOW BUT YOU DON'T EITHER!" That's definitely made me throw science and logic out the window and become a Christian.

  • @Noxshus But he didn`t even show evidence when he said he would. Flim flam...

  • @waycooltoo i think hes joking...i hope hes joking

  • Doesn't Robert Wright understand the argument from irreducible complexity?

  • I love to hear from the skeptics on these debates. But I for the most part cannot make it through the endless illogical rantings of the religious.

  • it seems like the audience is clueless and disinterested

  • These nuts show up thinking they have arguments, only to be slaughtered by Harris in the first round.

  • When are the religious going to muster up a sensible argument? I'm just waiting for something that's not completely ridiculous

  • Hey Jesus take my sins... oh wait that's stupid, I wouldn't learn anything about myself without owning my mistakes. Childish nonsense.

  • Taleb, "Learning to make decisions based on information" is arrogance? I almost can't believe what I am hearing out of these religious people. Don't tell me religion doesn't poison everything, perhaps worst of all, your mind.

  • So what's up with Robert? He doesn't actually believe in anything... OK fine go don't believe in the audience.

  • Why does Shmuley even keep showing up? He comes off as a bad stand up comedian. Yakov Smirnov eat your heart out.

  • 51:03 climax. lol

  • The set up scenary is ridiculous

  • Wow! So many hot women in the audience...

  • Greatest debate introduction ever.

  • Sam Harris from 1:12:00 - 1:15:40 destroyed everything religion stands on.

  • Danesh.

The reason why religion is not subject to "progress" is because it's supposed to be the eternal word of god. Are you suggesting that god is learning as he goes?

  • @mikeenwright333 nice one

    if i mat say

  • @ARAFELI Thank you :-)

  • @mikeenwright333 No, he's saying the exact opposite.

  • @TweekDash ????

  • @mikeenwright333

    What is progress?

    science or technology?

  • @WolfEyesatNight

Progress: The idea of moving forward.... Of discovery. Of engaging that which has not come before.

As such, progress can, and does, take many different forms.

  • @mikeenwright333

Shouldn't we inquire into what is really progress?, is there such a thing, or are we just discovering what is possible to the human intellect?

Can a divided being, filled with conflicts resolve into what's progress?

if so, how do we become whole?

    k: )

  • annnnd yet again the "best" of the religionists' arguments involve playing around with the meanings of words. i'm so tired of this crap and it only fools people who already share their belief anyway; when they can't play ball with science on the same playing field, they default to the fuzzy, subjective logic of semantics. even assuming their bs was true (about knowing there was a god through thinking enough about it) they then have to show christianity and not any other creed is true. they cant.

  • Why can't religious people understand that math is not for every one and just because they heard about science does not give them the right to an opinion about science???

  • i sometimes let these play as I fall asleep. Never before have I wanted to punch a rabi so much. Both him and Dinesh- It's like some rabis and priests pulled these two aside and gave them carpe launch to use THE MOST FALICIES, Srawmen, and Ad hominems possible....

  • @noogetful you mean carte blanche? normally i don't nitpick grammar and i'm not picking on you because i agree with you but i thought you should know. it's french for "white card" meaning a blank slate, tabula rosa, etc.

  • @gnarctopus yaa I did mean that- the carp launch was a Monty Python sketch. Dumb ass reference. Sometimes I assume every reader has the same pool of -usually comedic references I have. But yes..

  • @noogetful lol im an idiot lol no no you're good. i've seen the holy grail multiple times but i have yet to get into their sketch comedy :/

  • Dawkins was missing for the intellectual orgy to be complete! The Four Horsemen!

  • I am sorry if people take offence, but spanish is the most disgusting language in the world.

  • On one video the sound is a piece of shit. On the other video there's a annoying lady speaking over every speech, the other video is incomplete. Can you get one thing right? I give up.

  • Boteach is his obscenely dishonest and disingenuous self again. Absolutely maddening.

  • @nosensetoitatall

To bad he couldn't keep his apprentice Michael Jackson away from corrupt doctors.

  • D´Souza does not like this vid.

  • Taleb basically says "I don't know but I know god knows." It's sad how often religious people fail to see their own blatant inconsistency in this regard.

  • Don't take D'Souza out of context...when it comes to the three primary questions he stated that throughout time people have search the answers for science has not given us anything. So please stick to the actual context, and not a statement made to make you feel better about yourselves.

  • dinesh d'sousa is an idiot and proud of it, this video proves it

  • Not enough time for speakers. Too much emphasis on fatuous showbiz production values and preening of the moderator.

  • I don't agree with Sam Harris' statement at 18:20 when he says, "Of course, all religions can't be true at the same time." I don't think all religions are incompatible with other religions, and I think a lot of atheists have this misconception, that every religion is always incompatible with another, and it's probably because a good deal of atheists are unfamiliar with eastern religion. Here's a way to think about this:

    /watch?v=yeSufC4xfvA&feature=BFa&list=PLF7659E6D9F968E1B&index=28#t=0m54s

  • @Hanahleia To argue that Sam Harris' statement is untrue is to claim that all religions CAN be true at the same time. He does NOT claim that any particular religion is incompatible with any other. Eastern religions such as Shinto and Buddhism can be compatible, and various re-interpretations of Christianity make room for other religious truth within their doctrines.Other manifestations of Christianity, however, most certainly do not, and these are all that are needed to prove Harris' point.

  • @SpottlestheShowPony I don't see how that's all that's needed to prove his point. Did you listen to that link, by any chance, that I posted?

  • @Hanahleia He says not all religions can be true at the same time, and I fail to see how you can dispute this. You essentially have to claim that it is possible for every single religion ever to be mutually compatible. The religious pluralism described in your video is irrelevant, as all that is needed is one example of incompatibility. I could for pedantry's sake create two religions right now, for which to believe in one you must disbelieve in the other. They would not be compatible at all.

  • @SpottlestheShowPony Maybe you don't understand the point in the Watts video. Watts is saying that if you have the perspective of a Buddhist, then all religions can be true. Most people who call themselves atheist almost always couch their atheism towards western religion which has its roots in Hebraism, Judaism, and Islam which are monotheistic religions. Very different from the panentheism (not to be confused with pantheism) expressed in eastern religions such as Hinduism, Taoism, etc.

  • sweet holy jeebus, ol Dinesh is Demoron, just another paid shill for the phony corporatist Xtains and intellectually bankrupt asshole also, too

  • somebody tell Mr. Wright the so called nor atheist nor religion that intelligent design goes to the right... religion... ID suckers allways want to slide in with pseudoscience.. damn him

  • Dinesh D'Souza: I'm gonna approach the problem in a scientific way: *carries on to talk complete bullshit about science he doesn't understand at all"

  • Dinesh dresses like John Hodgman from the Mac adverts.

Harris: "Hi, I'm a Scientist, my software is cutting edge"

D'Souza; "Hi, I'm a Creationist and I've got a lot of catching up to do"

Oh my, I think I just solved solved this debate!

  • D'Souza is pathetic.
