sicc post!..I rememember the vhs with origanal ending then got the dvd and was like they didnt show the fuckin freeway.....Its like that horror is happening with just everyday life is going on...great ending to this masterpiece
@CoolEasyProductions If you have not already, check out the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Documentary: "The Shocking Truth." It is an extra feature on the Blu-ray of TCM and also on one of the DVD special editions. There is a good segment about TCM2 and how Canon f*cked it up. I hope that the lost footage is out there somewhere in a Warehouse or abandoned cinema in TEXAS...Joe Bob Briggs claimed in the 80s that some Texas theaters had prints with the deleted scenes in tact! Pray to the cinema Gods!
@CoolEasyProductions LOL, I know. Think it's from the fog machine they used to make it look like Stretch is actually spinning with a running chainsaw instead of a prop. Canon Films really screwed up the editing on TCM2. It's still a bad ass horror movie/black comedy, but it could have been so much better is HOOPER had the final cut. Damn Golan/ Globus!
It's the exact same shot but the view of the trucks passing on the highway at the bottom of the frame is just matted out by the black bars of the letterboxed 1.85:1 framing in the widescreen version.
@TheAltair4 You're absolutely correct! Bill Moseley mentions this difference on the commentary for the "Gruesome Edition." The shot with the trucks is the original intended shot, according to him. Kinda gives you an idea of how close the Sawyer hideout is in relation to the freeway.
It was in the 90-s when the next wave of horror started...
.....making so called 'letterboxed-editions' by just cropping off almost a third of the picture...
...the horror still continues today....

@Gunh3d1 Too true! Wonder why the "Gruesome Edition" on DVD also chops the bottom portion of the film's ending off...
