im using this computer as i speak and it sucks.we bought it alittle over 2 years ago and the battery will immediately die once the power adapter is unplugged.It overheats when multi tasking and other than that it freezes from time to time...Overall the specs are shitty...a amd duel core 2.1 GHz?? For a100 dollars less you can get an asus desktop that has more ram,more hdd space and a slightly better cpu.Sorry but this computer is not a reliable computer and its overpriced.

I have this Compaq Presario CQ61 and the hard drive is about to die. I bought it in mid-2010 for 420 euros. The battery died 10 months after bought and now the hard drive is starting to show that blue screen, it starts to make a lot of noise and just reboots...I am already looking for a new laptop. Wouldnt recommend it unless very money concerned.

I have this same laptop and it's a piece of shit, the fan is cheap, the CPU is easily consumed by minor things, and then of course there's the fact that the harddrives are poor, it over heats too easily, and of course the fan makes far too much noise if it's not positioned in the right place, for me atleast. I Never want to buy a Laptop again after this, I can buy a Desktop for £50 less with twice as good specs

@MrSmaste Same here, I got this laptop around 2009. The laptop is blatantly failing (it does run hot like you said)

For example:

First day, i ran CS:S Maxxed out 1336x788 2aa/4af at 70-140FPS.

Now, no fucking joke At those settings, I now get 9-21 fps.

I ran it in windowed DX8 mode 640x480 windowed with lowest settings for 30-100 fps, that's sad.

The wireless card is also garbage.

I know it's not made for gaming, but that game was made in 2004. My laptop was made in 2009.

@greenking25 The microphone is set to default when you start using the laptop. To use the webcam you can either open a program like Skype, or use the default webcam software!

battery life is okay. mine lasted about 2-3 hours. For the first few months.

You see, I bought mine in February, and my battery doesn't work anymore. It says I have to replace it already. Its only been 7 months!! And a new one costs $80. I still use my laptop, i'm using it right now, but I have to keep it plugged in. Unplugged it only lasts about 20 minutes. Hope this helped :)

Lol, I've had this for 6 months and I never noticed the built in mic xD. Anyways, anybody know how to replace a key? can't find a tutorial on youtube for this specific computer... I fixed my J but I can't duplicate it for 4 (ty # pad).

P.S. I have a lot of games on my computer... currently one of those games is having lag issues... I don't feel that lag =).

I can play major games on medium settings I got the cq61-411WM @ Wal Mart for 350 bucks. It has the ATI HD 4200 with 128 MB video Ram shared up to 1 gig.. 2 gigs system Ram. I play Oblivion, Stalker SOC, Doom 3, Prey, Alpha Prime, Half Life 2 on Medium settings and older games like Morrowind, Elite Force 2, Jedi Academy, Deus Ex, Virtual Pool 3, on all high settings. It has single core AMD processor. Great for 350 bucks!
