  • Jumbo Tsuruta, AWA

    Hashimoto, NWA

    Randy Savage, WWF

    Rick Rude, WCW

    Mike Awesome, ECW

    Curt Hennig, AWA

  • @NathanArnoldCharging Well, as I said, I only added the Champions before NWA, the NWA Champions until the withdrawal from WCW, the WCW and the WWE Champions. I had to draw the line somewhere. Rick Rude held the WCW International Heavyweight Title, which only existed for a year. As for Randy Savage, I would have added him, but he died after I made this video.

However, this doesn't mean I don't respect them. I made a video about Curt and added him, Mike and Rick in my video "Remember".

  • I have huge respect for these men,I cant comprehend how George Hackenschmidt looked that ripped and muscular!

  • well done!

  • That was fantastic. Wow, somebody who actually knows the history of pro wrestling prior to the WWE television era. At least the first 7 of those guys were from the days when it was 100% real and a few others though into the kayfabe era were still real wrestlers. I'll say this, every one of those guys deserved to be the World Heavyweight Champion.

  • Saved my All Time favorite til the very last... Eddie Guerrero!!! Viva La Raza!!

  • stanisław Zbyszko Cyganiewicz duma polskich zapasów

  • Ali Baba (Harry Ekizian) was my father-in-law. He looked just as strong when he was 80 years old as he did in this photo. He never stopped exercising. I have so many wonderful memories of him.

  • @RestinPeaceChris I used the same picture of Chris Benoit that I did in MY tribute video entitled "Tribute to the dead WWF/WWE Wrestlers"!! But you missed one thing, in WWE on March 14, 2004, at WrestleMania XX, Benoit won the World Heavyweight Championship. So he had a two-time world title reign. But other than that good video.

  • @RestinPeaceChris You should have used a different color font!!

  • This is a very nice tribute! I have studied the history of the sport, and mentioned many of these great champs in my book: "Wrestling Analyzed". It is mainly about the amateur sport, but i described how the amateur & pro versions of wrestling had common roots...Believe both Londos & Thesz won titles earlier; Lou may be the last undisputed World Champ in 1937.

I also liked the words of Mr. O 'Connor's daughter, that her Dad was a real athlete, not steroid-induced like many of recent years.

  • ......and where is Dan Koloff in this list???

He is N1 for all times!

  • Eddie Guerrero totally looks roided. He didn't used to look like that in the 90s. Sad.

  • these wrestlers at the end of the video died in there 40's

  • damn these people lived long ass lives...

  • LEGEND GREAT VIDEO MAN. Is bob backland still alive?

  • why would anyone insult these legends? great video

  • Great choice of music for the video...I've actually got the Nocturnal Rites album. I am familiar with almost all of the wrestlers here, but Dean Detton and Dave Levin are new to me.

Bronko Nagurski had to be the toughest. Played both offense and defense for a full season of pro football and wrestled a full time schedule to boot!

  • Thankyou for these pictures.I have a copy of Lou Theszs' book ' Hooker ', and in it he talks about a lot of these older wrestlers, and it's nice to be able to put faces to these names. And by the way, George Hackenschmidt is pretty impressive for 1895.Once again , thankyou.

  • @Dshed1967 Now that I know this book exists, I'll have to get it. It's great to see a video like this by someone who knows the history. Hackenschmidt, Whipper Billy Watson, Thesz, Strangler Lewis and on and on. The days when it was mostly actual wrestling.

  • Hack, only man ive ever heard of that could do a 311 pound pullover from a wrestlers bridge

  • WTF! Stanislaus Zbyszko (1:16) is fucking huge!

  • I love this video. This men are true greatness

  • THanks, i have tears in my eyes,.

  • HOLY Smokes 2:10 i Jumped cuz he was hairy

  • @Jerichorock21 Have you ever seen George "The Animal" Steele wrestle? Compared to him, Ali Baba is clean shaven. ;-)

  • Oh i just jumped cuz of the image

  • @RestinPeaceChris an have you heard about DAN KOLOFF

    the balkan LION????

  • Is Kevin von erich kerry's brother?

  • @5297669 Yes, Kevin is the brother of Kerry von Erich. Kevin had four other brothers, Jack, David, Mike, and Chris. One of them died as a child, the other three in their twenties, and Kerry only became 33 years old. Kevin is the only surviving brother of the Von Erich family.

  • R.I.P. Eddie T-T and the others

    Viva La Raza T_T

  • 1:22 zomg i jumed

  • Thank you for a great post. I wish you had included Wild Bill Longson. He held the NWA title and had epic battles with Thesz and Watson.

  • Wow I didn't know Yokozuna was so young when he passed away. Stan The Man Stasiak is one of my all time favorites. This was a great video tribute

  • As one of Pat O'Connor's daughters, this was very very touching. Also, I might add - and this is only my opinion - these wrestlers were the "real ones" - no drugs, steroids, etc. Back when we were young and watched Dad wrestle, it was more athletic and not a 3 ring circus as it has become. Thank you so much for including Dad in your touching video.

    Erin

  • You do not need to thank me, Erin. Your Dad is a part of our history, a former World Heavyweight Champion, so he had every right to be included in this video. But thanks a lot for your comment, I'm glad you liked it.

As for your opinion, I'm not old enough to remember "the old days", but I think you might have a point here. Drugs and steroids have indeed become a huge problem in wrestling.

Btw, does Pat have any grandkids, and have they shown an interest in pro wrestling? Just curious.

  • OOPS.Never mind.world Champions that have died.DUH moment of the day.

  • No problem.

  • No Ric Flair,dusty Rhodes,Terry Funk,Dory funk Jr.,Harley Race,Briscoe Bros.?

  • @kevindwb This is a tribute to dead world champions

  • these younger guys died so much younger

  • Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit (True Legends in Wrestling)

  • It is good to have these pics but it's shame Youtube wasn't invented 20 years ago because I imagine lots of clips of the early 20th century champs has now disappeared

  • Wasn't there a champ in the '30's named Everett Marshall?

  • Awesome!

  • All of them great champions, except Chris Benoit. He tarnished his legacy with the murder suicide act that he did on his family & himself.

  • In my opinion, Chris Benoit was a great Champion, and as far as we hear from everyone knowing him, he was also a great human for 40 years. What he did was horrible, but these were only the last 3 days of his life. And since his brain was in a very bad state, I think that he didn't know what he was doing when he did it. The only one who can judge him, because He knows what really happened, is God.

However, since you voiced your opinion in a polite way without cursing him, I won't delete it.

  • Danno O Mahony was my great grannys cousin and my granny remembers being at the funeral mass

  • This is a great video, but I have to know, who does the song?

  • The band is called "Nocturnal Rites". I had not known them either, but when I stumbled across this song, I thought it would fit to a tribute about our World Champions.

  • forgot his reign in 2004 at wm xx....

  • As I said in the description, I only added the date of their first Title win. Otherwise, Lou Thesz' picture could not even be seen because of all the dates I would have added. ;-) And I think it would be too confusing to add all of their reigns.

  • k... gotcha.....

  • this is another great tribute video! thanks for all your videos!!!
