  • Omg can you just clean it you sinky bitch

  • hi

  • i like the design for the basking area its nice, but man that tank is dirty. open window shining light in all day everyday? or jus a bad filter?

  • ewwww CLEAN THAT TANK! it's just plain cruel to make yhuur turtle live in there it so dirty!!!

  • any turtle over 4 inches needs a much much bigger tank to live in. I got 2 females, about 7 inches big and i had to dish out lots of money for a 100 gallon tank. They started killing each other for space.... =/ im gnona have to figure out a way to make a awesome set up like yours!

  • get shrimp for tank helps cleen

  • @Jnick911 my turtles are my shrimp =[

  • nice mercurial shoes;)))

  • i dont liek the blue light thingy, is it good for the turtles? if it doesnt harm them then i wont mind it lol, im a turtle addict :p

  • @royaltomsolo the blue light went bad after 2months, and no, it has no benefit for the turtle.

  • @Onesavedbygrace just to give a blue look at night

  • @royaltomsolo its to mask how dirty the water is lol XD jk

  • I cant believe this is a 10gallon aquarium. i've been tryina set up mine into a decent one but it just won't work. help!

  • @audidemz

    hi there,

it is doable... but my turtle was 2inches...

he is much bigger now like 4-5 inches, i have a 20gallon and am building a new basking area...

go to home depot.... you will be able to... make measurement for it... pm if you need help okay...

  • @Onesavedbygrace Still need a bigger tank. I would get at LEAST a 40 gallon. 20 is good size for a young turtle, but not for a 4 incher

  • @Onesavedbygrace What size tank do you have now? You need atleast a 50 gallon tank for a 4-5" RES.

  • hello onesavedbygrace... did your plexiglass wall ever melt from the basking light?

    thanks

  • @respect141

Hi there, great question!!! if you are in the US, go to Home Depot, and they have a section with acrylic. there you will find different kinds. I cant recall the thickness I used, but i think it was 0.38something... was not the solid nor the flexible one. it barely end. make sure you basking light is 12inches away from your turtle and your turtle basking are does not exceeds 100 or else you can burn your turtle easily. feel free to ask more questions ... I plan on build an newer1

  • yeah... i've been keeping the water very clean..

the filter i had was horrible, i had to do 100% water change everyweek...

no i do in 1month and the water is sparkling clean...

its all about the filter. =-)

  • I agree, this is a very nice setup, BUT! Even with a filter, you have got to get the water cleaned every so often by yourself. It's so cloudy :/

  • I agree with other comments about the really nice setup but you've really got to clean that water. Doesn't matter if you have a filter, you have to clean the water every so often :/

  • how do you make one?

  • @0909Pilot

well, you can start by drawing what you like it to look like, then go to home depot and buy whatever you budget allows you... and cut, clue, build and you got yourself1 =)

  • very nice..i have a question

i dont have a ramp and my basking area is flat...so i think i need to let the water level be the same as the height of the basking area..is that right? or should i let the turtles (terrapins actually) kinda jump and climb itself onto the basking area

  • @0909Pilot

the basking are must be a floating/level station where the turtle can easily climb in/out- make one, should be easy or adjust the one you have

  • @0909Pilot

a ramp will make it 'easier' for your turtle

  • :O! You gotta explain how you ended up with this awesome setup with only hardware store sutff! The whole dry-wet area thing is so nice.

I assume the tank is DIY style?

  • @Procrastinatathor ....well... i probably sent $40 total to make that. the acrylic is the most expensive... but the project was worth it...

if u want PM ur e-mail and I can send u instructions how i did it... its suuuuuuuper easy!

  • @Onesavedbygrace Can you send me instructions as well?

  • @Procrastinatathor

im glad it ended up like it did- to tell u the truth...lol...

im gonna make a new one soon

  • @Procrastinatathor

    well...lol home depot... =)

now that my turtle is way bigger, i have to redo it... =(

  • Nice set up.

  • @Ghostkid202

    thank you very mucho!

  • nicee:)

  • @LoveFromBelgium , YAH, THANKS! SPIKY LOVES IT

  • you need a better filter or do a filter/water change, It too cloudy that a strong sign of ammonia and nitrate lvls are high. if it just purely cloudy you should do 50%50% Hard to soft (Soft being you tap, and hard being the garden hose) That should solve your issue other then that its a neat 10gal set up.

  • @GangstaPengie true! i finally got the water set-up working w/ two filter media/cartridges working in the marineland filter200 100gph in a 10gallon tank, lol

and plus i was testing something and i went 30days without touching the water, so the filter does the job, cuz i go on trips and stuff and i need to make sure it will be alright, now I do 10%change weekly and 80% monthly and every other month i clean the whole aquarium. THANKS FOR ADVICE!

  • Is that light ok for turtles? Besides that, it looks great!

  • @Medardom yah but the leds went bad after 3weeks i was just trying something there and the turtle liked it a lot
