  • do you get all this stuff from pyro direct

  • @MrCoolbreez01 I buy my materials from anywhere with the cheapest price. PyroDirect is a good option.

  • haha SCREWDRIVER HAMMER!! HAHA

  • what kind of paper do you use??

  • @cloudcally Brown craft paper.

  • Is the sun shell (3 inch) just filled with black powder and a break bag...?

  • @Berryice1 A break bag surrounded by tigertail composition. It didn't get quite the effect I had hoped for.

  • u know i make shells too... but dude.. that much Gpowder kinda scares me to shitless for it XD most i made was a x5multi break with comet launch "6inch"

  • what wrong with your finger

  • it would be cool if you could list the chemicals used

  • was that sun shell just a salute or were they just tiny stars because it looked like you just put black powder in it

  • What "chemicals", did you use for the sun shell? (for the burst [the black and gray stuff] and the insides outside of the burst but still inside the shell [the black stuff, BP?]) I know this is probably hard to understand, maybe...Thanks!

  • This reminds me of a RAP Shell from a long time ago. We used two fuses just in case one didn't ignite the flash bag in the middle. We also used water as the fourth ingredient in the production of black powder. The black slurry was then dessicated for 20 minutes in anhydrous alcohol. It was then ran through a screen and sun dried. The "%" was done by weight and not by volume. I liked your approach to shell making. It is a work of art. Thank you for posting this.

  • what you can do everything to give and in what order?

  • ...What?

  • where did u get the blackpowder?

  • I make my black powder.

  • for the burst you use genurated blackpowder?

  • Yes, granulated BP.

  • how to make?

  • at 6:14 is that a reliable way to make a time fuse? because making spolletes is very time consuming

  • Yes, if it is good visco. There are still times when spolettes must be used however. Only spolettes will work for multibreak shells.

  • i love watching this vid!! watched it 3 times 2day and its still sikkk!!!

  • try part 2 then

  • @Scraleontis

    ofc ive watched that lol

  • man, remember that certain people might use these things to do harm, careful what u put on

  • Unfortunately there are much easier and more effective ways to cause harm than by using anything I ever show in my videos. But yes, I do keep that in mind whenever creating a new video, which is why I am constantly promoting legitimate pyrotechnic organizations and legal avenues.

  • is that black powder for a break charge??

  • Yessir.

  • Comment removed

  • how da hell d'you learn how 2 do this stuff????

  • Lots of experimentation and reinvention.

  • kool i thought u had 2 spend years in university or sumtin

  • dnt 4get about lots of money to buy the materials hehehehe

  • Years must be spent any way you go about it. You cannot learn to build fireworks like this overnight, let alone how to do it safely.

  • ppl love explosions these days (including me) especially neat colourful ones.

  • Don't be assholes ppl cos' u can't make 100000 time smaller than this!

  • Is than green mix you put in at 7:50 for having a big creamora, or is this a kin of Salute Shell?

  • It is dry tigertail comp. Meant to make a large cloud of sparks.

BTW, even 12" shells are often ignited by quickmatch and fuse unless they are in a display. Electronic firing is unnecessary.

  • Whats at 7:00, & 7:52

haha and were do you get your paper? :P

    Thanks

  • You have quite a talent there that I can only hope to 1 day have. I hope in a few years I own a house with some distance from my neighbor so I can have a nice workspace to do all that in, and test :-)

  • Very sexy! :D

  • It reminds me off a giant change wrapper

  • you are very talented

  • hey there just saw this amazing video and was wondering if that first load of powder put into the wax paper was just flash powder and if that second load was just black powder thanks anyway max

  • If you mean for the sun shell, the wax paper contained 'dirty' nitrate flash and surrounding that was dry tigertail mix.

  • And we are supposed to give a shit why...?

  • You do realize that he could have a license? you have no idea who he is....

  • You are wrong. Building shells is legal for just about anyone. Storage, transportation, and legal shooting grounds are all licenses are required for.

  • what can I use for filler? I saw u put some chunky particles in the caniser. What was it(looked like pebbles or corned bp)?

  • I used sunflower seeds. Sawdust works quite nicely.

  • do you have to coat sunflower seeds with bp?

  • No, that was simply to fill space.

  • we have no idea what to put in it? we use gun powder? baking soda? WTF we use??

  • if you don't know, you obviously aren't experienced enough to build a shell this large.

  • thats why im looking for a tutorial you dumb fuck.

  • Click on, How to Build a 1.5x3 inch Can Shell Part 1. Then part 2...5 inches is too big to start. The best thing to start with, would be a 3" ball shell...order the hemis from

    Pyrodirect(dot)com

  • does japenese time fuse work better for the fuse that goes into the shell?

  • Nope.

  • y do u talk in part 2 but not in part 1??

  • How well does wax/parchment paper burn? I'm planning to use it instead of tissue papers to hold the burst charge

    Thanks, Tobita

  • It will work fine.

  • Thank you very much!

  • this is jsut constructive criticisum but, maby when you were traceing the plate on the bottem of the can.. u should have used an exacto-razor or something like it

  • thats great dude.

  • what kind of paper do you use to scoop each powder from one thing to another?

  • Whatever is handy. The important thing is to not use the same scoop for different chemicals.

  • very awesome! i only make like 1-3inch shells when i can get the supplies!

  • where is boom

  • It is in my video, Sun & Planets Shell - 4th of July 2008.

  • hey i am not getting how people made this easter egg mortars because they put BP at buttom of egg then at top the stars and they close it. but how come when they lite it. It doesnt lite the stars since the bp right under it?? that what confusing me. If have answer that would be great.

  • where do you get this kind of kraft paper ?

  • A big hardware store should have it. I got mine at Home Depot

  • Hey i was wondering if u can make video on how to make mortar shell using easter eggs and telling where to put BP for life and how to add stars etc.. Thanks 5/5 *

  • I have several videos that show how to make different types of shells, but no I cannot make one about easter egg shells specifically.

  • how to make lift poweder?

  • Lift is just normal black powder.

  • Well nice shell :D, and a big boom :P, but i whas wondering, does it make sence which kind of paper you use for the tube (i mean the brown paper). Cause i don't know how its called in my Language, and i don't know if i can buy it here to :D, anyway, Thanks for all of your video's, ill subscribe for sure!

  • It's called kraft paper. It is similar to what brown paper bags are made of. It is very helpful when building a shell, but I have done without it in the past.

  • What is your language if i may ask?

  • Dutch ;D, why?

  • ik dus ook :P Maar volgens mij is dat bakpapier... ik heb geen idee maar lijkt me het best mogelijk ;) Weet je dat ook weer:P

    translation:

Ah! Me too! I think its bakingpaper... i don't know exactly but i think it's the best option ;) so you know that again:P

  • daar zat ik ook al aan te denken xD

    -----

Thats what i thought Too xD

  • het heet gewoon kraft papier bij elke goede winkel voor kantoorspul te vinden.

  • this video is like all of your others... AMAZING!!! i just love to whatch your videos and learn more about the art of firework from one pyrotechnitian to another

  • I'm glad you enjoy them

  • hell yer we all do much appriciated and inspired to try some small projects and make bonfie night cheaper for once haha

  • what is this black powder and ????

  • OMFG A DUCK ADUCK ADUCK ADUCK!!! ok now ive got a headache -.-

  • lol... you're just like me my friend, a quarter of our pyro budget goes to hot glue sticks lol

  • So long as you're careful to never have it near exposed compositions...

  • what did you put inside the paper ball?? and what was the black thing that you put after the ball??

  • I love all of you're amazing vidios you should join me on my vidio making stuff.

  • PM me, if you wouldn't mind.

  • Yeah I'll shoot you a PM

  • nighthawk, i'm very interested in beginning to build my own fireworks soon, after going with a friend to a big pyro group get-together. a fella there had very large shells like yours, and homemade flares and stuff, and i was absolutely intrigued. would you be inclined to disclose your star recipes and suppliers? and perhaps even a couple of videos on how to make dazzling stars for use in shells...

  • WOW SO CREATIVE! NICE WORK!

  • you should start talking in your videos again that made them much easier to understand

  • I have been told that by several people, I'll remember to whenever possible. It was not for this video however, it would have taken much more time that I did not have.

  • What is the largest legal shell? And how big is this one compared to it?

  • It depends. For consumers the largest legal re-loadable shell is 1.75 inches. Display fireworks the largest shell ever fired was ~48"

Like it says in the description this is a 5" shell, for all intents and purposes without a license building fireworks is illegal and it's very dangerous. But it can be done safely and legally under the instruction of a licensed pyrotechnican. Please don't try this without somebody who knows what they are doing.

  • p.s...phew! i thought u were gonna use that tin can as a case for ur shell lol

  • do you know how to make Crackling Balls or (Dragon Eggs)if u do can u make a tutorial on how to make em?

  • I do know how to make dragon eggs, but I do not have the chemicals. Check out pyroguide(dot)com under compositions and they have a pretty good list of them i believe. Use the bismuth methods so as to avoid the high toxic hazards of the lead oxides.

  • So, I was just wondering if you had a liscense. I have watched many of your vid's and I'm impressed. I would like to get in to this, but I heard on the news a few days ago, that here in Kansas it is a felony to possess class A fireworks. If I got into this I would end up making class A shells, I just know I would. I would really prefer not going to prison lol.

  • That's a tricky situation for all home pyrotechnics. If you are concerned about the law I would look into joining the PGI and also look around for pyrotechnic clubs in your area. Any of them could help you along and also provide a legal way for you to build and shoot some very large shells.

  • you never really told us how or where you get all your ingredences from?? if thats spelled right lol..

  • I look around online for the cheapest I can find and buy in bulk. Just make sure you're doing your ordering and shipping legally and you'll be fine. If you want more specific info send me a pm.

  • is that kraft

  • yep

  • wow you are super awsome( are you a professional pyrotechnic?)

  • Nope I'm not pro. Just an addiction of mine

  • lol cool

  • Your can shells never disappoint! I'm sure it will be a good fourth for you. I will have to try this in miniature (3"). P.S. How will you position the burst in the main shell to light the subsequent inserts? O well, I guess I will wait for part two!

  • It just went live for ya

  • YESSS i love your vids. i'll bet you'll have a kickass 4th, while im here stuck in california with cops... :[

  • That I hope to. I'll be bbq'n on my pontoon boat, just a few fireworks including this one. Been to busy to make much more.

  • I'm so fascinated by your videos. When I'm older I want to get into a pyrotechnic hobby. By the way, are you a part of the PGI?

  • Thanks

No I'm not part of the PGI, though I will be in a year or two at the most. I'm always such a long way from the meets it hasn't been worth it for me yet.

  • So the sun is just a lampare effect? Or was that BP + stars?

Pretty funny that he calls himself a pyro without even knowing what spiking is. Looks like another great can shell from you... Some Veline shells will be coming out from me soon (no, not out of my ass).

    5/5

  • I wondered who might notice the filling of the sun shell. Yes it is just a lampare, lots of BP and flash in the center of dry TT comp. I added quite a bit more BP and flash that I didn't show me dumping in because of time restrictions...It should be a good blast and I hope the TT gives an appealing effect. I'll be looking out for your new videos, veline colors have always looked good to me.

  • nice man

  • why do you put string on them

  • Keeps the contents in order and the break even.
