Use Ice Climbers or Bowser. You get 500m+ without the bat throwing trick.

if you ever play that one again just try yoshi's Fair bat drop

Looks pretty good to me, I've seen some of those techniques on youtube and they do look impossible.

My friend could hardly get over 400 with Ganondorf, lol..
