im not into the whole predictions thing, but making gestures and faces are fair game imo. lush has his head shaking and sighs and that threw UP off. also i really felt that it wasnt meant to throw him off, but that he was genuinely disappointed. it's all mind games regardless, whether you're trying to remember some writtens or freestyling, so why not be able to try and throw them off mentally. idk, just my 2 cents on the battle.

great debate about distractions it definately throws mcs off when someone is talking during a battle but as long as they remain quiet and keep a certain distance from u and give u room to spit ur lines, I dont give a fuck if they are standing and looking down making faces or doing jumping jacks because a dope mc would just quickly pounce on that persons action. My main point is as long as your voice is heard by yourself,the crowd and the judges when you're on the clock it is all good.

If you mind isn't quick enough to do that, thats just a lack of skills on that person's part. They can gesture what they want, but I don't think people should talk while someone else is rappin.

Great debate everyone. I enjoy everyone's insights and agree with them all. I for one hold a bias to the interruptions. I will admit that it is a weakness of mine. I can't stand when people interrupt or speak while I am spitting. But like you all have said...you must overcome this dilema. If not...you will only rack up losses. Battling at this level requires such a level of discipline. Something I am learning about. Great conversation.

If your doing well at something.. anything.. like ur really in the zone.. nothing can influence that.. nothing can break that.. if your playing sport and ur winnin.. u dont notice the opposition using bad tactics or the crowd yellin shit atcha.. when your down for the count tho.. then the taunts and the foulplay is magnified.. no hate tho i love ur vids man.. keep that shit up yo and let me know what ur think of my thoughts..

I agree with what ur getting at.. i hate when cats draw any attention to themselves when they opponent is spittin.. but this cant be used as an excuse for falling off.. UP simply wasnt prepared.. which is a cardinal sin.. considering I spoke to Lush recently asking him if he came prepared.. he virtually laughed at the question and said 'man i had 4 months to prepare'. The only reason UP let that get to him and mentioned it in his round.. was becoz he had nothing left for lush man...

Lush did the same thing during the WRCs and no one really screwed up because of it. You'll notice that he does it even for legitimate lines that the crowd reacts to, so anyone (smart) could realize that he's just doing it without merit. But even so, if Unorthodox was confident in his own abilities and didn't /already/ have the seed of doubt, Lush One being "disrespectful" would have no effect on him. If anything, what messed Phrases up was the crowd reacting more to Lush's lines.

Given, this "problem" cant really see a prospective solution....should ur opponent be physically restrained somehow when ur spittin. I just don't see where u go with this. The antics, distractions or whatever they maybe are something that comes along with battling and this was most definitely not a premeditated tactic by Lush. He was genuinely surprised by how bad UP was coming off. A person "turning their head" or making gestures can't interfere with your delivery. You have no choice but to overcome these things if u are going to be successful or truly considered to be the king of anything especially a league as serious as grindtime.
