  • Buen video

  • thank you for this type of videos the true is that i am studying my english until deeply and i feel that i have a little bad understanding i know you videos are made for professional peopple but my professor told that the best practice for my listening and understanding is to hear videos with subtiteles thanks you you are great i hope you upload more videos with subtiteles continue with your work

  • thanks a lot. i appriciate your good work.

  • thaks a lot . I really appreciate the subtittles, cause it is the most difficult part in every listenning I do. great job¡¡

  • Fantastic!!! I can't wait for the next episode.....Thank youuuuuuuuuu Jean and Jim

  • I really appreciate this video and I look forward to watching the next.

  • Hi Jen and Jim, great idea to come up with such a series. Thanks a lot and thumbs up!!! Please allow me to add a proposal: What about leaving out the subtitles? This would be even more challenging for us English learners. Or you could let the viewer choose whether or not to see the subtitles. Anyway, please keep up doing this great work! Best, Brig

  • Thank you very much for this video! I am more excited to study English now!!

  • Hey Jim, Hi Jennifer, The Jim and Jen Show is definitely off to a good start. I never appreciated Jim's humor as I did with this clip. And the very short musical intro works extremely well. It's amazing what a few seconds of having fun at the very beginning of a clip can do... and simply the way you say "It's time to make a phone call" sets the stage and makes the viewer want to watch all the way through. Bravo.

  • Hi~ the great director Jim =) Thank you for kind teaching and interesting conversation. I've really enjoyed your video. Actually I'm a beginner in English because I am a Korean. And I have been studying english with JenniferEnglish by myself. You both are my favorite English teachers.Your speech speed and the detail scripts on screen are really suitable and useful for the learners like me. I always hope Good luck for you both.

  • Great you are both my favourite teachers.Thank you for the video.

  • Uouu, this is a very good video Jennifer. Congratulations, I saw most of your videos, all they are good but this one have an interactivity that turns it more interesting.

    Thank you for your classes

  • yeah! great! you two are amazing. Practical conversations are really important, like going to a drugstore, restaurant, meeting a new person, asking for what is good to do in some city, where can I buy something. =)

  • I am a Jennifer's fan, I did really enjoy this excellent video! I am looking forward to see the next episodes!

  • 0:44 Why would you say a friend of Sam's? Why apostrophe and s after Sam? We say I am Sam's friend or I am a friend of Sam. Sam's and of Sam are interchangeable, but of Sam's? This may be correct in a sentence like the following: He's a friend of Sam's father. We can also say I am at Sam's (place is understood here). Would you please clarify?

  • @mamatalu

Great question. We use this "of" structure with people to show possession. It's very common with "friend". You may also hear it with "colleague" or "acquaintance."

"Jim is a friend of mine."

"Sam is a friend of Jim's."

Compare: I have one dentist. Dr. Green is my dentist. (Not "a dentis of mine".)

That's how I understand it. It's a bit confusing for teachers, too, to be truthful!

(I have a blog post on this topic!)

  • @JenniferESL Thanks for clarifying. It is interesting. Now this particular construction is used only during conversation or even in written English too (except, when writing dialogs)?!

  • @mamatalu

This is a standard grammar structure. You can use it in conversation and in writing.

  • Its a great idea of making videos like this because not everyone has the same pronunciation as a teacher.

On this occasion would like to suggest to do more videos in the background noise of the city or

the restaurant music for instance with people of different professions and social status.

  • This would enable to students to integrate successfully into the English-speaking environment.Good luck and best wishes!

  • Very Interesting!

  • Interesting way to learn English :)

Looking forward for more future Episodes.

  • Great idea and great couple too. Thanks a lot.

  • @marcelodagnone Thank you for the kind words.

  • I like you videos. I use them from my ESL students because you speak slowly so they can understand and you also explain things simply........

  • @Koroodetto Thank you for saying that. I strive to make each video better than the one that preceded it. (smile)

  • Very, very good!

  • @Maribo33 :-)

  • I like this video! THANK YOU :)

  • @rinigian I appreciate your kind words.
