i havent read it yet, but i've asked the exact same question - everyone tells me that the anime skips around accprding to the manga so there isnt really any specific place to pick it up and that I should just start from the beginning. i will eventually, summer's coming. then i'll have all the free time in the world to read it :D

Yeah, you should start the beginning of the manga. read it at onemanga (dot) com. or that's my suggestion. Things vary from the manga to the anime. If you don't want to start from the beginning (you'd miss some stories that the anime misses), start with like... volume 3 or so, I think.
