You do happen to be correct however, you failed to state the fact that Jacques Martin replaced Mike Keenan as the gm and coach at the same time that Luongo left. He then preceded to overhaul the entire roster. But I believe you have a good point and so in conclusion: all star players who leave a team, only to have that team improve, are negated of their playing ability.

Roberto is at best a top ten goalie in the NHL- nobody should confuse this guy for the 'best' by a long shot. Look at his body of work including only 1 playoff round win. I don't dislike him but he is somewhat overated. He plants and sells out on one knee frequently then scrambles in desperation to make above avg. saves look great. Those knowledgeable in goalie technique recognize this. The last save vs calgary on this video is a classic example.  The pass comes from the left of luongo...

In other words, identifying the shooter in the slot dictates that a controlled slide from left to right while anticipating a possible reverse in direction is the correct play. This is a high skill move for a goalie but I've seen it executed at the bantam level. Luongo plants on one knee on breakaways often as well. If he was 5 10 and played like this he'd have a tough time making the ECHL. He should learn how to edge better while moving in his butterfly
