what if the punishment for every felony was a fine? and the fine could only be paid off by working in prison. the fine for murder would be really high so that the criminal could not pay for a long time.

also, i think criminals should have to pay for stuff they destroy during their crimes. and they should have to pay the amount it costs tax payers to keep them in prison.
