  • It boots Fedora 15 these days, a bit faster too after upgrading to an SSD :)

  • LOL I have a HP Mini 210 running Debian and Ubuntu

  • Hey mate, I've been offered a 311C-1020SA for a straight swap of my Dell 1012 HD. Which is the better computer for light gaming and 720p/1080p playback?

  • @LurkingCrassZero I would say the 311c, see the reviews and benchmarks for the Nvidia Ion (Google for notebookcheck GeForce 9400M) and this writeup of the Broadcom chip which compares them: (Google notebookcheck review dell mini 1012) Looks like the Ion is more powerful and special players are needed to get the best out of the Broadcom Crystal chip.

  • @LurkingCrassZero Even so if you have the chance to compare them side by side, do it, I think I prefer the Dell trackpad over the 311's but there's not much in it. The 311 has a HDMI port, looks like the Dell hasn't, and the Dell is supposed to have longer battery life - although the 311 seems to me to have a better battery life than I expected.

  • @cxmcxm Thanks for the reply mate ;-) If the Dell has a better trackpad, that's not good, as the trackpad is the only real sore point of the Dell for me. Also Nvidia ION does light gaming AND plays HD content does it not? Where as the Dell's Crystal HD Card only does HD content, not games. The Dell has up to 8 hours battery life for me. I think I'll stick with the Dell to be honest. But I still think the 311 is better in some areas ;-)
