It's a shame USA lost its reign as the skyscraper king. It's also sad that the architects designing these supertall buildings in other countries are from Chicago. What really gets me is that the Kingdom Tower isn't even an original design. Look up The Illinois.
@Anon7771 like they mentioned in the video...they don't care if it fills up completely or even if its empty because they make their real money from the surrounding properties (and they own them) which the land value jumps and it draws in customers that want their businesses and or condos near Kingdom Tower....
Beautiful tower Saudi Arabia. A building so Islamic its designed by British engineers and American Architects. I sure hope 19 Saudi Nationalist don't decide to ram an airliner smack dab into the middle of it. Cuz you Saudi's know a thing or two about that don't ya? Don't mind the poor, or the sick, or investments in your nations well being. Building a half empty office building to compensate for your small manhood is much more important....
@SilverTissues IM FROM SAUDI ARABIA.. YEA BIN LADEN INFRASTRUCTURES IS THE BIGGEST AS HE SAID...THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OSAMA....AND HE ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE COMPANY HAS BEEN AROUND YEARS AGO.....AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT..IF YOU GET A GOOD DEGREE AND WORK IN THAT COMPANY (YOUR RICH).
Not to sound like a hippy but this tallest building stuff seems kind of out dated now that people care about energy conservation and the environment. It clearly has nothing to do with population density.
This isn’t a great interviewer. He frequently interrupts the discussion just as it gets interesting, and his questions basically answer themselves (e.g. “I understand that a building like this, it doesn’t really bring in a lot of revenue itself, but it raises the value of the surrounding buildings. Explain that.”). Not to mention all his hesitation devices (“uh, uh, um”). That aside, I’m glad they gave A. Smith so much time on the air to talk about the project. It’s an extraordinary vision.
Thanks for the upload. At over 3,300 ft this monster will put the screws on anything else flattening all records. It will be a colossal tower and intimidating to look up at.
