Both programs have cross-over features but each one shines in their own specialty. Photoshop has artist tools but they aren't as sophisticated and advance as Corel Painter X. While Painter has nice photo editing tools they aren't as sophisticated and comprehensive as Photoshop. The question is not which one is better but which one is more appropriate for me. You can't go wrong with either programs. You just need to know what you need.
i like adobe photoshop i can work fast- painter x for slow ppl ... with photoshop u can do same as with painter x ... almost all best artist use photoshop whahahaah
@shagythommy You can buy Painter from the Corel website. Or you can pretty much get it from anywhere online. Amazon, eBay, etc. You can also check your local electronics stores to see if they have it. I'm pretty sure that art stores and some university student stores sell it, too. Paint also usually comes bundled with certain drawing tablets.
Newbie trying to show off. Must be student who just found a new toy. Give him a couple of year he might do more and talk less. He probably don't understand what the word artist means.
All you have to do is go to 'cgsociety . org' look at the gallery and see what programs they used. You will quickly conclude its the artist not the program!
where do you get your photos to edit from. obviously, not the picture in this video, but a lot of your videos have artistic photos that i'd love to goof around with and just try some stuff out. if you have a good website please share. thanks :)
" I also use Corel Painter X because I think it is much better at painting. "
Nonsense, if you suck at painting, then Painter won't make you a better painter and if you're good at it, then Photoshop doesn't make you a worse painter, many have already proven that at Cgtalk.
It's depends what you want. If you want to make your image look like a traditional painting, then pick Painter, for all other work Photoshop does just fine, we can see tons of examples of that at in the 2D CG Choice Gallery at Cgtalk where the greatest talents often use nothing but Photoshop. But, I know all about Photoshop, it's my #1 expertice, I also run a large Photoshop site.
lmao ignorant fool. "photoshop adobe". You mean Adobe Photoshop? And why do Mac's suck because they're 64-bit? No, You're just a moron. 64-bit is better and it's the future of computing.
No they didn't program it in 64 bit because they are waiting on snow leopard. I am sure of it. Why make a 64 bit version for an OS that isn't full 64 bit but will be in a few months?
photoshop's superior to painter X in every way, and when it comes down to digital painting - it becomes preference. Photoshop creates the best art, most professional graphic designers on websites like Depthcore (which releases ART PACKS) use Photoshop as the primary component to their pieces - not Painter X. Corel's just not there yet
WOW...this is truly amazing....hey eric i have a question
u know how u have drive genious 2?
1. Is it really worth it
2. when i launch it and i go to defrag my volume. I select it but then it says i need to launch it from a different volume. If i insert the CD it tells me the same thing.
I want to defrag my Hard Drive but it wont let me.
i wouldnt defrag a lot. It can cause problems if you have a hiccup while doing it. You have ot boot from another volume to defrag your main HD. Boot from the Drive genius dvd. there is an app call iDefrag that can do it without booting form the dvd
but i heard that ig you do a lot of movie editing and exporting. a lot of rendering than its good to defrag your volume. I have never defraged my volume yet, but i thought that if i did it would just help my computer run faster and better..
I wouldnt worry about defragging. What I would do is seperate my data from the main drive. Drives are cheap these days. One drive for the system and applications and one drive for your data makes the most sense.
I've got 4 drives in my box right now. One is my system drive which includes my applications. 2nd drive is my swap and scratch drive, 3rd drive is my data and 4th drive is backup.
I Agree, Core Painter X is for artists and people who use their computer to draw. I Use photoshop because i do allot of digital compositing (Digital Effects, DVD Covers, Wallpapers, Website Elements). So yeah, i tottaly agree with you. Keep Up the good videos!
Do you still think its better even with all the brush presets that you can get for PH? If you think it so much better Please list way emeek or do a vid and show me why. I ask as I am really interested. I mean what you showed here is very simple to do with PH so please enlighten me.
Hey man, I've just downloaded the free trail of Painter X and it's so awesome, and stated off trying to do what you're doing in this video. However, every time I press the 'quick clone' button I just get a faded image appear, not a white canvas. Have I got something wrong?

Fuck Photoshop and Painter. They aren't REAL art applications. REAL artists use sketchbook on their Human CentiPads. ALWAYS.

Painter X is great for drawing with a tablet, I'd own a copy myself if I had a need for it frequently.
Also, oh god, the massive dock.
