Well, there are songs in the album that sound better without Spencer because he "forced" himself along the song, such as Racecar, All New Materials and so on. But there are songs that sound dull without his vocals; take Frak The Gods, Icarus Lives, Jetpacks Are Yes and Letter Experiment as examples. Maybe with the new album, he'll contribute to the songs more directly and manage to coalesce his voice with the instrumental effort. None the less, I respect the man and the band, Periphery FTW.

@thudunder I don't know about you, but it's no wonder Dream Theater asked Periphery to open their show in Budapest on the 17th February 2012: the DT guys have an eye for talent. Periphery isn't exactly my cup of tea vocal-wise, but they're nevertheless good. I can't wait to see them live, both bands I mean:D
@thudunder I hate internet arguments but I would really like to know what you based the "Spencer is one of the most hard-working and talented singers in the business" on. At best he sounds like your average singer/screamer for the entire "lets sing and scream" genre. Personally, I think his vocal tone is unpleasant regardless of his technical ability to manipulate his own voice (IE- "talent", which to me isnt all that impressive). IMO he doesnt fit this band at all.
I like the vocalist's singing much more than his breathy screaming. You gotta give him some kudos for what he does. Constantly using a strange timing yet still making the music collectively on sync. Not to mention he will use a minor scale over a major scale on guitar and vice versa. He doesnt use the generic pretty notes.
I like that his voice is somewhat unexpected. Think of how many bands that sound like this that have the same sounding vocalist. I like that they break the mold by having a somewhat mainstream hard-rock vocalist (not that I like mainstream hard-rock or anything)
Great song! gotta say i love the Instrumental version better than when they added the Vocalist. sorry but his style does not match the music. it distracts from the music and even though he is a good vocalist, he doesn't belong with this band.
@tranquillity09 really? his voice fits perfectly imo. It's so good. and even with the music, music is bettter whem combined with a vocalist. IMO that he fits so well. But thats my own opinion :)
@DiscoTaco18 yeah man, i love the guys voice, he has a phenomenal voice! yet (maybe its because i heard the Instrumentals first) i feel like his vocals distract from the guitars melodies.. i just feel like the words (as great as they sound) could have been placed more in unison with the playing then it was done, is all.
I dont care what anyone says. Spencer is fucking amazing at singing. its just sometimes its nice to just appreciate the instruments. thats all
