  • thank god theres nothing happen in our flight last night thank god

  • hÏhi_aNÿ_gÙYs_wañt_tó_chät_wIth_me

  • what happened ?

  • Sad sad day for Guam...I was active duty at the time and was supposed to fly into the island that day...actually flew to Elmendorf instead...I knew a lot of the search and recovery folks that were involved...2 years later ironically I got stationed in Guam and took over the search and recovery team...we based a majority of our training on the vids of the KAL crash...so sorry for all the loss...

  • the start of residents evil...

  • Your'e forgetting both pilots are very tired. Too tired to be flying at the time of the crash. Studies have shown that lack of sleep affects judgment. It has been compared to being drunk. Judgement is the first thing to go. They thought they

saw a working glide slope, but it was too late before they realized they were wrong.

Lack of sleep is a common problem for overworked pilots.

  • @liteswitvh They really in my opinion should have aborted that approach the moment they couldn't see anything and the ground proximity warning sounded with no sight of the runway. they tried pulling out way to late.

  • lol asian american douches trying to do real asian accents

  • Law suit 101.... Glide Scope not working in IFR conditions...

  • i love and hate flying

  • @featheredmusic what does that means

  • @IrishBOY164 I what i mean is everytime i think about flying through the clouds and looking at the beautiful views i love it, but when i see plane crashes and what it would be like to be on a plane that's about to crash, i hate it.

  • I hope they found out why the hell the glidescope appeared to be working again.

  • I hope they found out why the hell the glidescope appeared working.

  • i am scared because i will go to a flight to egypt please god please please please i am to young to dye please god please i dont want the airplane to fall

  • @islamabdelhamid It will not. You will have a wonderful trip. Tell about your experiences once you are there.

Every 5 seconds a plane lands or takes off, and its a very very small probability that some crash occurs. If there were serious issues, there wouldnt be flights. So be at peace, and enjoy your flight.

  • @islamabdelhamid the chance of an aircraft crashing is less than u being hit by lighting

  • @islamabdelhamid yah seriously, cars and ships crash more in a year than planes do in a decade.

  • @islamabdelhamid what i do to make sure i have a safe flight is check the weather for the departure and arrivale areas and make sure its daytime flight

pick a middle seat near a exit you should be safe

  • @islamabdelhamid hope you blow up muslim

  • that is my kestion. Why didi not just ask the tower to confirm about the glide slope ?

  • humjust cant seem to find a prince who knows his way around a womans body

  • y r there so many stars the quality sucks

  • just to let everyone know since 1999 Korean Air has had a complete makeover and now you have no need to worry about flying with Korean Air....and don't underestimate the First Officer...If he took control of the plane at 1:42:19 they would have been fine...I don't know why the Pilots decided to do a visual flight in such bad weather....ESPECIALLY WITH NO GLIDE SCOPE...LISTEN TO THE FREAKING ATC!!!

  • 6:00 wth is going on???

  • i bet nothin wad wrong with the plane, it was just the weather.if this happens all the time, why do they make planes like tht?

  • fifimomo717, Ohh no, the 747 was fine, it was all human error, like usual. The runway wasn't up to par, and the pilots made numerous errors.

  • spot on my friend, they do use xmilitary pilots..

  • You're 100% right! a majority of their pilots are ex-military. Are we no different though? A majority of the most senior pilots in the industry are ex-military. Flight experience and hour minimums are very high to even be considered for the week long interview process with Korean air. I'm not scared at all when I fly with them, I actually prefer their service over any of our domestic airlines. Don't mistaken me as a Korean sympathizer, because I'm not! :-)

  • The difference with KAL pilots, is they do not have sufficient domestic flight experience like other pilots. Because of their connections and culture, fairly young inexperienced pilots from the military are advanced into 18 wheelers. (747s)

I have a close friend who is a retired AA pilot with 35 years experience. He has been working as a contract pilot with KAL for about 6 years. He has many scary stories to tell. As a fellow pilot, he warned me to NEVER fly Korean. So I don't.

  • If you can't see the ground at 500 feet you should go around then!! Pilot error all the way!

  • of course it was!! Most crashes are from Human error in some way or another...even if the engines are lost, the plane is cut in half...STILL HUMAN ERROR (well to some point)

  • i think the captain made a mistake to land in the first place, when he can not see the path nor detect anything.

  • stupid question to ask but did those pilots survive just wondering because im a pilot.

  • @aircadetwilson09 NOPE! There were survivors but the pilots weren't among them.

  • voice at 500 feet they need to pull up if they cant see the airport

  • Im scared i have to ride korean air in 2 weeks

  • Your screw.....

    J/K :)

  • its ok i was there 1 month ago and things went perfect :)

  • I'm sure the "airline" is just fine. Just be happy that those pilots aren't in charge! :)

Also, why at 2:00, did thos "pilots" think the glide slope thingy was working, and not confirm it with the tower, OR disregard it in the first place, like they planned?

  • Of the 254 people on board 31 survived. I have to ride Korean Air tommorow O.O

  • damn, did you die?

  • Human failure.. the pilots was adviced that the glide slope WAS NO FUNCTIONAL..

  • Wow! The passengers didn't even have time to brace themselves for impact. Scary.

  • They should of pulled up when they noticed they couldn't see the airport.. Stubborn captains...

  • The conspiracy theory is that someone farted perhaps the stewardess and it stank so bad that the pilots lost control. That is a classic case of Korean air. LOL

  • even if the glide slope is active.. they should check the approach minimums... they did not, poor passengers

  • This is to user "burrichello", the notorious Boeing hater on here. HEY HOW BOUT THEM AIRBUSes now, dude?

  • Im a DC-10 fan >___>

  • after the hualt... what happend then? ive never seen this before and im really interested. can someone tell me the rest of the story? please send me a message to tell the rest... thanks bunches!

  • i saw this today on the NGC, Air Emergency

  • the automatic approach system was not in function, but some jamming signals suggested the crew it was actually functioning. From where did such signals arrive? From Guam militar base? It cannot be dropped out, because coexistence between militar and civil control systems is not always easy, and IMHO in Guam there should be OR a militar airport OR a civil one. Not both

  • we have lost sight of the airport fuck

  • this was on aussie tv a few days ago

  • They should have pulled up before...

  • agreed

and i was gonna say that

  • like this program:D

  • When at 0:38 when they say its hard to see... thats what she said!

  • Ha!

  • Splash one

  • Okay . Don't go to Guam and Don't take the Korean air .

  • i think you should see a doctor i think you have mental problems. GET A LIFE.

you cant even use a telephone.

  • Wait pilot? You were on that flight too. Omg i was the pilot. Dude we should talk. Maybe later

  • Sure

  • I WAS ON THAT FLIGHT

  • pilotatc999

Thank you for coming back from the dead to fascinate us. I bet you were terrified on that flight. I know that I was very frightened on the Hindenburg.

  • your welcome

  • niggersrnasty

Yes, the sushi played a serious role in the crash, but the real tragedy is that the co-pilot broke his favorite chopsticks.

By the way, upon boarding the stewardesses greet each passenger with "me so horny".

  • Thats retarded. even if you are getting a signal, you shouldn't be using the quipment if it's said its unusable. Just like a VOR azimuth Might be working when under repair, the AIM and FARs clearly say you are to not use it. I understand its Korean Air and not in the US, but don't they have approach plates and they could've made a nonprecision approach still using the localizer?

  • ive seen this on tv..air crash investigation..

  • did any1 die?

  • i dõn't understand :( did everyone die? where did the plane land? what happened in the end?

  • Well the plane was supposed to land on the guam airport, but because of the GS (Glide Slope) was not working, due to the weather, the pilots can not see what's going on. Unfortunately there is a mountain right before the airport, while the GS isn't working, they end up crashing in the mountain.

  • Asian pilots just like Asian drivers. lol.

  • LOL

  • whats a glidescope?

  • its when you line the plane with the runway and start descending in a constant slope.

    ...i think =P

  • they should've used rain X, that shit works wonders

  • was this youtube video filmed with a second-generation cell fone camera off of a 1989 Zenith TV?

  • 1990, colorvision

  • how's fault was?

  • The error, human. We ain't perfect. So in this case, everyone suffered.

  • ladies and gentle men we will now fuck you up

  • This is the only major crash for Korean Air. Air China has over 1000 crashes and faults and emergency landings whereas Korean air has less than 10

  • Ladies and Gentlemen; Please remain seated until the pilot has completely fucked up and we and our body parts are strewn all over the runway. Thank You for flying Hari Kari

    Airlines.

  • I laughed so hard at this. I need to sleep more. :D

  • Thanks. Glad to see others out there with a healthy sense of humor.

  • ATC should have been clear the glide scope was giving incorrect signals. don't fucking follow the signal!

  • Korean Air is the only airlines who most suffered from communist attack. from russian to North Korea.. so unlucky to korean air.. geographically

  • Who the?...Wha?...shut the fU.

  • ... you dumb fuck, like a captain is really going to be on the radio and say "ladies and gentleman, we are going to crash, so please hold on and PRAY for ur life."

And also, U.S airline compaines has MORE stupidity and ignorant plane crashes than korean air.

  • so if he would do that why did he not say that

and why do you bully innocent american teens like this

  • bully innocent american teens?? wtf? lol wuts a innocent teen like you dong on youtube. youtube isnt a place for a innocent teen like you...IF u are one.

  • ok you attacked me a innocent frindly American teen that did nothing weong for no reason thats obvious to me those I called you a buly because of how mean and cruel and caress and greedy and selfish yu are

  • ever hear of sarcasim

he was saying that because you were being so dam stupid

sorry if I upset you but honestly reading the comments made to this person and on the video are anoying you take over the thread trying to maintain your false correctnes

as per innocent american teens like you?

well if you thought about it at all you would know that that is totally incorrect that is not a match to your behavior here nor what I have seen generally elsewhere

  • wtheck r u talking bout?

    bullying innocent american teens?

    r u a comedian?

    haha

    u made me laugh:D

  • and by the way you calling me names for no reason makes innocent people like me looks bad

also as per your quote "like a captain is really going to be on the radio and say "ladies and gentleman, we are going to crash, so please hold on and PRAY for ur life."" If this was the case why would they not say that

  • pilots arent trained to say "last words" before a crash, and u cant predict a crash too. pilots are already distracted as is trying to control the plane, they dont have time to say any last words to the passengers

  • I know that I am not dumb you know despite how you make me look bad. but earlier you said "ladies and gentleman, we are going to crash, so please hold on and PRAY for ur life." so it seems you were confused unless that was a scam to confuss billions of people

  • you asked me "if this was the case why would they not say that" and i answered "pilots arent trained to say.....etc"

so i wasnt confused, all i did was answer your question of askin me "if this was the case WHY would they not say that"

  • ... you dumb fuck, like a captain is really going to be on the radio and say "ladies and gentleman, we are going to crash, so please hold on and PRAY for ur life."

And also, U.S airline compaines has MORE stupidity and ignorant plane crashes than korean air.

that comment is the one I meant

    now stopp bulling me

  • later you changed your story

pilots arent trained to say "last words" before a crash, and u cant predict a crash too. pilots are already distracted as is trying to control the plane, they dont have time to say any last words to the passengers

so that confuses me and trillions of others as well

  • dude why are you bullying innocent asian teens?

we did nothing wrong and you go cussing them out.

your set a bad example for america

and i live in cali too=/*shakes head in disapproval*

  • I LOOVE THE VIDEO

  • ATC could have paid more attention but the FAA let the MSAW at Agana be declared inop instead of working out the false indications put the FAA partly to blame, the pilot knowing that the ILS glideslope was inop(per NOTAMS)should have used the Non-precision approach(stairstep). Once the ILS glideslope seemed to be working, he went with that instead but the whole time was way below even a normal glidepath. Alot of things went wrong to include bad CRM on the part of the pilot (ex fighter pilot).

  • korean air had four crashes MD80 crash landing 747 got shot down from JFK to ICN and a 747 crash landing and this crash

  • if u think tat the pilots r suck u go drive the plane urself

  • LEARN HOW TO SPELL

    AND I MEAN IT

  • THAT IS SHORTFORM

  • nice vid...

  • great..just when im about to use their services...

    >_>;;

  • kkk....Good luck...:-)

BTW, Korean airlines made a great change

in the company after that crash.

    Don't worry...kk

  • agiooo

I dont know, i think ima just pass LOL

  • They even have a private room now! You can use it for sexual intercourse of course! Noise is reduced dramatically by the engine and air conflict noise outside!

  • This horrible crash shows that NEVER passengers will fly in a plane without a pilot. Machines and Computers fail, just like in this case. A 40-50 years old captain pilot doesn't fail aslong the plane's not showing any problems at all. Even with alot of failures on the system, pilots are trained to make the right decision. Best example, the landing without working rearwing thingys of an american pilot (eventho alot of people died, it was a wonder that still lots of people could've been saved)

  • did everyone die?

  • no, a few people survived.

  • No he couldnt put it on autopilot as they had no glide slope...

  • well he could of put the aouto pilot for landing

  • the worst time for me was when I flew in Incheon airport, when I was able to see the ground, it's the runway, and land, just less than 5 second ... was kind of scary....

and when I was in a taxi going home from the airport, I saw a 747 coming out off the fog over my head and just landed in a second

what a terrible foggy weather, I don't understand how the ACT allowed any planes to land in these kind of weather ...

  • if your ILS is working (unlike here) then Aircraft can land with clouds as low as 200ft (CAT-I ILS)

In this case weather was good and the Glideslope portion of the ILS was not operating. ATC SHOULD have said "Cleared Localizer/DME approach" not "ILS". and the crew of the aircraft should have had their ILS/LOC-DME APP charts briefed with "NOTAM, Glideslope not available" items Clear in the minds of each of them. Lax practices caused this crash more than broken equipment.

  • hey shazsd123...bullshit. do you really need attention that bad? what a retard loser.

  • I was there. An absolute tragedy!....

  • WOW REALLLLLLLYYYYYYY SAD

  • too much trust in 'technology' got them a plane crash. just look at how many errors windows has, now imagine that system being used to direct a plane...hmmm...

  • I agree... technology is good and all, but theres a limit. You cant expect it to run smoothly, or to always be 100% correct. After all, we made it didnt we? We arent perfect, we are human. Thats what 'I' think.

  • The Glideslope was inoperational and sending erronious and intermittent signals... however even before they took off hours earlier, that glideslope was known to be not working and was notamed as such. The crew should have ruled out using it and flown the Localizer/DME approach to higher minimums as per the chart and using stepdowns, not the Glideslope. but this crew seemed determined to use Glideslope under full ILS... even after being told it was not operational multiple times.

  • why didnt they just ask if the glidescope was working again?

  • If the ILS dont work, why does he say; "Cleared for ILS" ?

  • The ILS Landing system includes both Localizer and Glide path(or glide slope)

At that time, only glide path was unusable.

So, pilots were able to use ILS landing

    without glide path.

  • It is incorrect and lazy phraseology however on the part of ATC, who should have used the term "Localizer Approach" or "Localizer, DME approach" depending. The term used, ILS, was incorrect or at best, vague in this situation. The approach the crew needed to fly was LOC/DME (characterized by pressing LOC on the MCP and using step altitudes to decend, ie pass 11DME at 3000ft, 6DME at 1950ft, Minimum altitude 760ft at Go around 1.5DME. rather than "Set APP mode on MCP and sit and watch it crash")

  • Well.. If the controller had said "Cleared for LOC/DME Approach", the crew would have been

    less confused about the glideslope.

But, I don't think ATC was giving wrong instructions. ILS approach without glideslope

refers to LOC approach. Since ILS landing system is made of localizer and glidepath.

However, As you may have noticed in this movie

the crew had a very hard workload and very tired. And they had no relief pilot on board.

Well..Aircraft accidents don't just happen with only few reasons.

  • Yes there's things the crew did and they are mostly to blame. The ATC only made one mistake, and that's the mistake I noted. Shouldn't have been a big deal, but the crew were unsure, and the word ILS may have been a factor in cementing their idea of using the entire ILS system which is really the final cause of the accident. Who knows, maybe if the ATC said Loc/DME approach nothing different would have happened and the crash would have happened, but at least the ATC would then be blameless-ish.

  • why did they not return and land later when they realised that they didn´t see anything???

  • well i amno't going 2 judge the pilots but,if that was me i will go around 4 the alternate air port if the glide slope isno't working with the weather condition,i wouldn't dare 2 land i will defenantly go 4 the alternare Apt and,god bless thse who lost there lives!

  • wrong korean air flight. it was korean air 007 that waas shot down, not 801.

  • its not their fault anyway. russia shot their airplane

  • yea, stupid russia

  • yeah ..fuckin russia

  • so your scared to fly korean air bc of this accident? y dont u not fly united airlines bc it was hijacked by terrorists... come on this was just a freak accident

  • baby it can happen on any other airline, just pray it never happens to you.god bless.

  • i fly korean air but whenever i eat a meal, i start to get sick.

  • well thats fucking air line food everything on a plane is shit... im korean and my mom makes bimbibab and its delicious

  • Dude 11 hour flight and airline can not serve you nothing else but traditional food with COMMERCIAL quality. Thats wrong. Thats all I am saying. Korean Air was cheaper thats why I did choose. I saw why they were cheaper in terms of food service as well. I was in Seoul for 5 days and I ate many different things. Just talking about KOREAN AIR FOOD SERVICE not Asian or Korean food alone. Thanks

  • Me rikey fry prane!

  • Not really, planes are usually low on fuel before landing and don't have much time to arse about.

  • thanks

  • One word; Fuel . You are a cunt!

  • Do you know the slightest thing about aviation?! It's called payload, they already use up all their fuel tanks and you are talking about backup fuel? There is no room and there absolutely is no room for that payload and capacity! Stop calling me a cunt, you are obviously the ignorant one!

  • i agree with you ;)

  • Damn!!! I was part of the clean up crew and remembering that site is very disturbing this has been messing with me since then

  • I remember this clearly...

It was raining so hard, I couldn't drive more than 30 miles. Lots of drama as I watched rescue workers over 1/4 mile on the hill side (Nimitz Hill). The fire must've been over 30 feet in height. The odor of gasoline could be smelt 5 miles away. So sad to know there were people dying.

I was 18 yrs old. My first job was a security guard there at the crash site for about a week. working 6pm to 6am. TALK ABOUT SCARY shit.

  • Five hundred feet and no visual? Uh, you go around fellas.
