My bike when it starts up. MAKES A VERY LOUD knocking sound. It sounds like there is a metal rattling around either in the cylinder or in the casing im not sure. I dont want to start it up again and risk further damage. What do you think it is?
@KARATExxCHUCK in the best case scenario it could be a busted cam chain tensioner: not an easy fix but at least it's not catastrophic.... there are a lot of worst case scenarios though that are probably more likely
I'd get a mechanic you trust to take a look at it for some troubleshooting, definitely a bad idea to start it again until you know what's wrong!

if ur rod bearing is that you also have a bad rod and chances are its hurt the crank as well just sayin the rod bearings on my tercel rattle like crazy and dont move that much u just took the rod bearings out lol
For those asking , if a big end bearing ( shells ) gets this loose , then the inside of the con rod and the journal on the crankshaft will almost certainly be damaged , and are irrepairable and need replacing ( expensive ) . The bearings alone can be renewed if diagnosed before they get this bad .

But when i go riding about 25 secounds of riding it she stalls whit a screaming noise... so what im thinking since de 2000ds 650 model haves bushing and not bearings in the connecting rod so when the bike gets hot the bushing sticks on the crank and makes that loud noise and sudenly stalls...thats what im thinking does this make sence? PLZ HELP ME

For example @ idle i hear no knocking at all...i've tried putting in 91 octane w/ octane booster and its still knocking. Any thoughts?
@FordsRule351 You can hear it at low and high RPM, it slowly gets worse as you drive. It happened to me, now i'm repairing the engine myself. Good learning experience.
hey mate, i have a zzr250 and it got a knocking sound in the engine when rpm is above 4k, at idle there is no knocking sound is that what happens with this problem u have. i put a video of it if u wanted to see . cheers
very much so, but the main issue is that the engine will only run for a very short amount of time after it has spun a bearing like this: if you let it keep going past this point you are likely to throw a connecting rod and cause a lot more (often irreparable) damage!

Usually from running the card hard with low oil pressure. Thats why with cars with oil leaks, you half to be especially careful to always have enough oil & oil pressure.

how long did it take you to get to the piston rod?, I have a hammering sound in my 95 eagle vsion, basically chrysler's 3.3L. and feel its a bad rod bearing
