Non so se essere turbato più per la completa mancanza di intonazione o piuttosto per l'assoluta ignoranza del solfeggio... Non insistete a rovinare il repertorio sacro europeo, per favore!
Click on the web site for this choir. It is an amateur group that sings at their church. I sing in a church choir and know how difficult it can be. Give 'em some slack. It's in the doing not the saying. In other word , don't throw stones at the choir, go join one.
Let me just say this: I'm currently putting together a choir to sing a mass I've written. And though this choir does not live up to the expectations I'd have for the UMD's University Chorale (of which I'm a member), or Chamber Singers, I'd be more than happy to get this kind of sound out the ensemble I'm putting together privately. They sound fine--and they make the music apparent.
This piece has a "Ukranian" or Slavic feel to it....could it be that a lot of traditional Slavic folk music still uses this kind of semi-modal scale and chordal progression?
@HolyMotherofGrid Whoa!! didn't see that one coming.. lol!! I will admit that it;s not a completely wonderful performance. I just think that it is impolite and mean-spirited to dump or jump on amateur performers who don't live up to the standards we would like to experience. Would you go up to them after a live performance and say: "Ok..that was a poor performance in every respect." and then walk away leaving them to lick their wounds? People tend to say nastier things when they are anonymous.
@tubezandor Rubbish!! You have no idea what you are talking about. I've heard FAR worse amateur choirs. The beginning was actually quite good! The dynamics are good, the pronunciation excellent and together, the balance and blend better than average..in places, quite wonderful!! Even if it WAS a "very performance in every respect", which it MOST certainly is NOT, it would take a complete and utter [fill in this space with whatever nasty word seems appropriate] to say so in public like this.
@yodiepants I actually don't direct any choir, I'm a music eduation student at a school in KY, but I've been in choir for at least 10+ years so I feel like I'm well-trained.
sorry--good to be aspiring to do good music, but not every attempt needs to be proudly displayed for the world to hear. sheez--have these people ever heard any music in this genre at all? They sound like aspiring but poor shape-note singers
Hey guys, can anybody tell me if they know of any Josquin compositions that use homophony like the intro to this?? You know, and Faux Bourdon and all that... I've listened to allot of Josquin and I haven't heard one other piece that is just a succession of triads like the opening to this!
Oh yes - the sound is´nt good! The worst thing is the one bass, who sings like a solo-singer and want to be louder than all other! Horrible - I sang this song a few months ago with some friends (only guys) and we did it much batter than these choir.
¡¡¡¡ Merde!!! merde!!! Merde!!! Please: don't kill more the masterworks!!!!!
THE "CHOIR": you should leave the choral activity, and dedicate to cuisine, construction, baby-sitter, or another activity far of the art...

@DonRaphel you sound like an expert.

@DonRaphel Ditto. It sounds like they didn't really get the concept of blending as a choir. Particularly the base...wow.

This is a bad recording. The bass is overpowering everyone else, and the intonation is pretty bad.

It's a nice tempo and the choir is pretty together. Starts going flat in the middle, though.
