Doing a review 'on the road' - great! I wonder with Donkey Kong, whether there is a 'cheat' whereby you take a straight line to the top, no pauses, no jumps.....nah...tried it, died....! That hammer sucks though.

The arcade version is definitely harder, it's pretty much designed to suck in those quarters. I have Donkey Kong for the Game Boy and I've completed it; while it was challenging I wouldn't describe it as brutal.

Hey don't feel bad about not getting to the pie factory level. The DK arcade is one of the hardest video games every! It took me several hours to make it to the pie factory. That continue is a new feature as well on that cab. I don't recall there every being a continue option on the original arcade. At least there isn't in my version. Good video sir.

I was at a thrift store a while ago that has a lot of pinball and arcade cabinets. They had an almost working Donkey Kong cabinet, as well as some other arcade stuff like pac-man and galaga, etc.

Nice find. I wish I could find any cabinets playing oldschool games. A place from a chain called Timezone used to have a few, but they slowly faded out, and there aren't any now. I spewed (mentally) when they briefly had a cabinet chock full of games (including MORTAL KOMBAT!) only to take it back out after a grand total of TWO WEEKS! Man, I felt sad...
