Whats Up is that the fire dep is Just blocks away..and it took over a hour to just get there and start to put water on it (What to do is take a helicopter with bags full of water then have them go to the top and dump them......it took over a hour for the fire dep to start so put water on it but realy for the helicopters to do it it would have taken less than 1/2 an Hour to Put out
buildings will burn across the world and people will die because of fire no matter how many safety precautions we use, its a sad fact of life, we can never fully anticipate what is going to happen in regards every conceivable situation
one incident where a material caught fire (where nobody was really hurt or injured, expect for a few cases of slight smoke inhalation) does not spell disaster, it would be an extreme course of action to call for the banning of this material because of one fire
even though wood catches fire also, i'd rather use it because it isn't AS flammable as styrofoam.
fiberglass wasn't good enough for insulating?
wood, plaster, stucco isn't good enough for moldings?
i can drink out of styrofoam or have an ice chest from it but when my living quarters is built with it and hotels i frequent, it bothers me to an extent to know safety is bargained for.
no, it's not the 1st case of this type of cheapness but still doesn't justify it because other places have it also or use it.
'sad fact?' what was the fact prior to the use of it? we can't go back to safer materials?
you must work for the mgm? why do you defend this so?
this was not a controlled burn and very easily could have gone awry. they were very fortunate that no one was injured. they didn't even have a fire alarm that worked properly.
no i don't work for mgm, lol, and believe it or not i am not a big fan of this material either but none of your arguments hold water so far i am afraid, you seem to be suggesting that vegas hotels are cheaply built, what does that make World Trade center 7 in NY so which fell due to fire???
fire alarms won't work where there is no fire or no smoke, in this case the rooms where there was no fire or smoke, fire alarms will now be installed on the outside of all hotels in the future
you shouldn't be afraid but concerned, especially since the wtc was crashed into by planes and no it didn't have styrofoam attached everywhere but the essentials for business on the inside that were flammable.
fyi, the alarms sounded that the issue was being investigated but then the investigation did not inform of the dangers of THE BUILDING IS ON FIRE!
nearly every sports stadium in the world uses the same material as on the monte carlo, lots and lots of home in the USA also use it, skyscrapers across the world use it.
the monte carlo cost $400 million to build in 1996, not exactly cheap now is it, current vegas hotels under construction such as echelon, plaza, city center are costing $5-7 billion, again not exactly cheap
again debatable how unsafe something like this on the outside of a building actually is, the fire blazed for well over an hour and yet it never entered the building, not even one room; firefighters attacked it from the roof, again had it been so dangerous they would never have attempted something like this.
imo had there been no fire crew, the fire would have burned itself out by the time it reached the end of the roof on both sides; no fuel = no fire
strange how this building didnt collapse...
but building 7 did!!!

Joe Pechi stayed at the Stardust. No styrofoam Obama or Stucco in the building there.

how many fires does it take?
one is enough for me.

wtc 7 WAS NOT HIT BY ANY PLANES but i am sure you knew that. 1 and 2 were hit by planes :)

yes i no, i had been trying to comment to fix for about 10 mins now and it seems to be broken.
maybe it's work now. i think it's 'cause you were responding at the same time.
7 was brought down by nyfd. (i am sure you new that)

Why does Silverman say " and so I said "pull it"
and later he said that he meant...pull out the fire dept...from the building..and then later they watched it fall.
There isnt any story of the fire dept saying that they had the authority to demolish building.
that would take hours!!! all day.
That may be a theory...but I was under the assumption it wasnt part of the OFFICIAL STORY>
It fell supossedly becasue of the fire...

shows how cheap and plastic like vegas can be.
also how cheapness can affect your safety.
how safe is all these cheap constructed buildings?
you don't want me to answer.

cheap as in junk and fake but not cost.
actually, a lot of the costs are marked up and misrepresented.
still, regardless cheap construction in housing, stadiums ,etc..
they should never have been built with this material ever.
if they can't build it right then they should not have built it at all.
cheapness in place of safety? developers need to make less profit and have more concern for safety.
i don't care if it was approved by code. it needs to change.

fire is debatable?
if i see fire where people reside/live and there is fuel then there is no debate. safety is debatable?
i don't believe that. safety no matter what unless one intends to commit suicide then why be safe about it?
guest's lives are debatable?
you can't downplay this.
spawnsrevenge 4 years ago
does that mean the likes of wood, plastic too should be removed as building materials as they burn when ignited??
chairs and tables, beds, tvs, carpets etc should be made out of concrete or maybe steel as they burn easily too
Vegasrossie 4 years ago
no, we should not do away with all the necessities but materials should be made more of steel and yes 'wood'.
even though it might have burned itself out and we don't know for sure since fire usually surprises us and why take the chance?
maybe they could have made a hollow plaster molding?
