This is one of the most moving pieces of music I've ever heard, and one of THE most compelling performances I've ever seen (of any artist, regardless of genre, style, etc.) I'm not ashamed to admit that I've watched this video a couple dozen times (and reposted it on Facebook so I could share with even more people)...and it still moves me, gives me chills, and takes my breath away EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I love how at the beginning it almost sounds like there is some coughing plague, but by the end of it not a whisper - Fleming is capable of commanding a room full of people just with her voice. Singers like her always amaze me, but none that I've heard can move me like she can; there is something simply celestial about her voice.

Well, Fleming has Czech origins, I believe. This excerpt by Kórngold proves how much this luscious and splendid music suits her voice. Reminiscent of the glamorous Maria Jeritza, a great favorite of Kórngold (one of the creators of Die tote Stadt.) Great Fleming, bless You!

I had the pleasure of seeing Ms Fleming live this year; it was INCREDIBLE! As mentioned in another post, her stage persona is second to none. And her voice...wow...what else can be said. Top that all off with the fact she is a beutiful woman.

She was in really good voice for someone who dropped her concert in Orange (South of France) in August 3rd because of sinus infection !!!

You'd be surprised what a couple extra days can do for the voice. Bit of rest and steam can make practically new again. She probably canceled just in case and didn't want to risk them having to pull out at the last minute.

The voice is the most delicate instrument available to humans, and if there were anything that could even possibly go wrong, even the slightest bit of strain at the wrong moment could destroy a singer's carreer. It's not as if she enjoys disappointing her fans.

BRAVA MS. FLEMING!!! This is my favorite aria from her 'Homage' cd. Korngold could write his ass of lyrically. When I researched the text, I was VERY surprised to read what she was actually singing about. WOW!!! I love you RENEE!!!!

This is the perfect music for Fleming's voice, indeed! It requires a luscious, rich, almost transcendental timbre, and that's what Fleming has. Her technique is astonishing, allowing her to sound accurate, firm and supple through all her large vocal range. Her breath control is superb, as is the endless richness of expressive vocal colours! I also love her dramatic commitment, though here she uses a little more portamenti than in her recording in the album "Homage" (one of my favourites ever!).
