@saltwateraquaruim My first car was a another 240z and never had problems i dont have kids and i didnt want to be any ones taxi either so i mean its on what you like...
@saltwateraquaruim You're parents are right to say that. and NO this is not a safe car, and since you said this would be your first car then I am assuming you are a teenagers either still in or freshly out of high school it DEFINITELY will NOT be a cheap car to insure. depending on where you live you you are looking at 160-200 dollar insurance and that is ONLY Liability. Insurance companies only car that it's a sports car they don't car how slow are fast it is or how powerful the engine is.
@thebluemaggot 0_o FREAKIN EXPENSIVE....im going into high school after summer I only have 1 more year before I drive and I'm saving up money now....sadly my parents gave me the car i came home in (1993 honda accord 10th ann. cali edition) so I really want a nicer car...but THAT MUCH A MONTH!!!! those racing seats alone are worth anywhere from $800 to $1000 i love the rims and brakes. the turbo sounds like a dream and the rust is just part of the reality of owning a car thats nearly 40 years old. i bought my 280z for $3500 and it was completely stock(aside from a custom air intake and exaust) who ever bought this car got it for a steal. i would easily shell out 12 grand
That changes nothing I said. Because you lose money either way. Whether by buying something for what you think it's worth; or, as you claimed, by owning something for what you think it's worth. Obviously, owners own for a reason, regardless of the costs of ownership and the one side of the "losing money" coin you'd rather focus on.
And if you don't know the reasons for owning a Z, you need schooling.
The owners of a valuable thing are who determine the price of it. As long as owners are followers of what the rest of a market tell them something is worth, they won't have a hand at all in manipulating that value the market places on it; however, if a great deal of owners of anything collectively refused to sell what they owned (assuming organic demand for it as with the Z), the market would dry up, the demand would become hot, and prices would rise to meet that spike in demand.
"The owners of a valuable thing are who determine the price of it."
NO T EVEN REMOTELY TRUE! Economics works on 2 fronts supply and demand. Low Supply can artificially create higher demand but ultimately it is demand that sets the price.
"As long as owners are followers of what the rest of a market tell them something is worth, they won't have a hand at all in manipulating that value" This is called tacit collusion and it doesn't work with the used auto market.
Nothing you just said makes owners not control prices for that which they own. If an owner is unwilling to sell, there is no market. The price may or may not react to that, but in this example, Z cars which is what we are talking about, you need some compelling reasons why Z cars aren't worth thousands more. Now what you're claiming, that simply lowering supply can raise demand, and that demand ultimately determines price, is in no way refuting what I said, it's agreeing with it.
You completely ignored the part of "Acceptable Substitutes" So long as there is something else on the market that is comparable to the other product then the buyer will always look for the better deal. I.E. Suppose there is a 240z for sale for 6500 but just down the street there is a Porsche 944 turbo for just 4000 Somebody who is looking for a fast performance car is obviously going to consider the faster cheaper car. The Market is not populated by only 1 type of buyer.
I can't write a book about economics on a Youtube comment. Much will be ignored by every poster making comments on here about every conceivable subject.
When less Zs are on the market, more people will be forced to look for alternatives. And under such conditions, it doesn't prevent more owners from only selling their cars for more dollars. All such contributing factors that prevent cheap sales work for this dynamic, not against it.
You both are doing alot theoretical and practical applications to something the is very simple. 1) supply and demand will always effect pricing (as you both said) 2) the part of this that economics cannot decipher is humans are irrational. There R people who put 20k into a car thats worth 4k based upon an intangible emotion. I am a Z enthusiast. and the ex mple about the Z and porsche I wold nvr buy a 4k like yr model ovr a Z thats 4500. No mre than a Vette owner wld by equal performance RX-7
If you actually think there is something wrong with something I said, you cannot, by extension, understand free market economics.
I could suggest you're "completely ignoring" brand loyalty, and the fact that in the minds of many buyers (not all buyers are the same) there is NO substitute for a Z car. I am one of these buyers. And as an owner, I will only sell to a like buyer, in the prescribed manner I've outlined. My little niche of the market is controlled by me, I'm sorry to inform you
Brand Loyalty will only stretch so far especially when the product is 30+ years old. What you are describing is an inelastic demand curve. Sorry to tell you this but inelastic demand curves do not exist in the auto market, new or used, Classic or not. The Golden rule of economics is, has always been and will always be what that something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. That will never change for commodities such as a sports car.
30+ years old works in favor of brand loyalty not against it. I'm describing demand curves as they exist for all products. Price is a function of demand. Provided there is organic demand for a product, cutting its supply will effect its price. It takes two to tango. I have to be willing to sell as much as a buyer is willing to buy. Sorry to inform you, but my car isn't going to be sold for any price I'm not willing to sell it for, and other owners share the same prerogative.
What I'm suggesting to you, and it's difficult to believe you're still so unclear about this, is that there are free market forces that determine what something is worth. Participants on both sides of every trade determine this. Owners can be passive, and rely exclusively on other owners to determine what "something is worth" and erroneously think they don't have any role to play in that action.
Moreover, I'm not suggesting anything to do with inelastic demand. There is no inelastic demand here, there is no oligopoly, there is no acceptable substitute. You not only don't understand free market principle, you don't understand the Z market either.
You both are doing alot theoretical and practical applications to something the is very simple. 1) supply and demand will always effect pricing (as you both said) 2) the part of this that economics cannot decipher is humans are irrational. (Continued) This form of tacit collusion only works with Oligopolies that control whatever few sources there are for any single type of product. As long as there is an acceptable substitute the buyer will always go for the better deal.
Owners of goods (like producers) decide to sell, or not to sell. Markets are up to them. This is true for every product in the marketplace. This is an economic reality for every product in the history of trade, before it exists on the market for trade, there is no market. It has nothing to do with tacit collusion. When I'm talking about owners deciding not to sell, that is lowering the supply you're talking about. Provided there is real demand then prices will chase that demand.
And please, we don't need Oligopolies for something that happens in free markets every single day without them. Just a few more owners over time selling their cars for higher dollars, and a few more owners after them, and people will see what the cars are selling for and naturally react to those trades. More owners will be unwilling to sell for less and more buyers will be willing to pay more. It works the same for any product. This is free market principle, nothing extraneous about it.
yes but they have to be in Just out of the factory kind of condition with VERY low mileage like 400 miles a year mileage. I mean so original it still has the original new car smell.
compared to the others i've seen in better condition 5gz is a good price to sell for. some that are still near perfect condition are around 8-12 depending on upgrades and all
no well in hell I would by a 240a that doesn't run for 5g. Selling one for 5g that doesn't run however i would do if I could ever find a mook dumb enough to buy it.

What kinda mods dus it have? Dus it have a turbo or is that just a suite sounding intake? What exhaust setup is that? Is it still for sale??? PLZ rite back im interested in your car!!!
One one assume since you can hear a turbocharger, and see a boost gauge, and the tangle of intake piping common in turbocharging that this would indeed, be turbocharged.
If you need to ask that, you should probably not own a turbo car.
