No, you don't need a multi-engine rating. You would if it could carry a passenger and you had one on board. Otherwise, this should be just fine. Check with the FAA.
now you see with machines like this we can make flying availible to everybody cheaply and safe. jet engines are the way forward. we don't have to focus on high speed either. with ultra lighteight thermo plastic aircraft with large wing span and jet engines we can ahcieve low takeoff and landing speeds. we need aviation prices to drop to the level of automobiles. consider also that less materials and resources are used to manafacture aircraft such as this
This is calleda Cri Cri, they are total blast to fly!! aerobatic rated and all... just can't go very far. It holds 6-7 gallons of 2 cycle fuel and has a range of about 200nm. Most people want to know if it will keep flying with one engine - yep. It will even CLIMB with one engine.

@luigimanzanares If the wings provide lift in a wind tunnel then this would be the plane you'd want to be flying if engine failure occurs.I bet there is little to no stall characteristics, thing is soooo light.
i will never fly in that thing. talk about blown by the wind, stall-spin-crash, i would never survive acceleration due to gravity on this one especially.
@zanfozanfani I've seen one that had 2 AMT model airplane turbines of 45Lbs thrust each. The FAA would require a multiengine turbojet type rating to fly.
@av8rdav yes I know, CRI CRI with 2 model turbine. I saw it years ago, was in France. Anyway it would be a good way to get jet flight hours on logbook at low price :)
@zanfozanfani Actually, in the USA you don't need to be multi-engine rated to fly it because it's an amateur-built experimental aircraft that isn't carrying passengers. FAR 61.31 (l)(2)(iii)(B)
i salute you mate , this is a great aircraft, and i would appriciate if you give me the information on where to buy 1 . i live in australia and iv been searching around for an airplane of this size for a long time. thank you .
Yup, the Cri-Cri (Cricket). Some dutch dude fitted 2 AMT jet engines to this plane as well, making what must be one of the smallest jets in the world.
Damn dude I love airplanes and this is something but I will tell u "u got balls". This are probably the most efficient engines in the world. How fast, high, and range on ur aircraft. This is interesting!!!
I wonder how many hours you would get out of those little hummers. They would have to be cheap to replace. What is the range of this aircraft? What are stall characteristics like? Is the aircraft stable? Any quirks in handling?
dude I think you are actually right!!! looks like an engine out of a Stihl MS 880, ROFL! Those are badass engines, right from the manufacturer! If they really are chainsaw engines I wonder what alterations they made for it to be airworthy?
If I build something like it, would I have any problems with making it legal in the us?

i have no idea how to make a plane and i doubt they will build you one for cheap or at all
