  • How can people watch Gracie Breakdown, and then DEAR to press Dislike??

  • @fredrikthepussycat *dare. But yes, I agree with you. I just discovered them and they are amazing.

  • What about answering the phone?

  • Where is Brock Lessnar??

  • why didnt u guys do the chris lytle and matt brown submission

  • "I've never been caught in an arm triangle in my life"

  • 9:27 was crazy .. he transitioned into the triangle unbelievably quickly! Much respect to the gracie's!

  • If shade flipped over like that got up an knocked him out probable the most awesome thing ever

  • Love these breakdown analysis. Much appreciated.

  • the guy with white pants is on crack, for sure.

  • Amazing.

  • I truly love BJJ and very passionate about this martial art... I wonder... I'm a big fan of Shane Carwin as well and instead of training BJJ at his gym why doesn't he go to Gracie University? I don't know if theres any rule or anything but yeah...

  • @PhunkieProdiG Generally fighters train at one gym and training with others is frowned upon. Its like you have a gym membership, you pay for your trainers and stuff, and if you go somewhere else what's the point? Say nothing for personal ties and PR.

  • @pwnage333 ?

  • @kirokyukan triangles is because of jiujitsu's obvious influence IT had on catch wrestling, not the other way around. As far as your "history lesson", hopefully you recognize the further pankration spread east the more it branched away from the pankration found in Greece, and by the time the West reencountered the East over a millennium later martial arts shared very little with their counterparts. So saying that it was perhaps c.w. rather than JJ that created the triangle would be ludicrous.

  • @TurdFurginson Actually the Triangle is a Judo move. The technique does not exist in any JJJ scrolls. Of course I am quoting from the book "Shime Waza" by Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki. Yes Catch did take techniques - from everyone though not just Judo and hardly any from JJJ, since this style was becoming extinct at the time. JJJ instructors began calling their styles Judo and practicing in the Kodokan manner.

  • @kirokyukan I said "jiujitsu", not "JJJ". There's a pretty discerning difference: jiujitsu is an umbrella term for classical Japanese jiujitsu, judo, aikido, Brazilian jiujitsu, etc. While traditional Japanese jiujitsu had been and still is less popular than some of it's descendants, the principles and techniques are still widely practiced in mentioned arts to this day.

  • @TurdFurginson Now your going to argue over semantics? Please tell me what style of Ju jitsu created the triangle, be it JJJ BJJ or anything between?

  • @kirokyukan I'm not arguing semantics budro. An analogy would be you saying "Sports involve a lot of tackling" and I counter with "No, sports is a broad term, so which sport are you talking about?". You said so yourself: a triangle is a judo move (though it is essentially just a collapsing figure four on the neck), so you answered your own question. I was simply correcting your terminology, which tends to be rather important when discussing martial arts.

  • @TurdFurginson

Discerning proper terminology is not just semantics. Judo does not fall under the umbrella of Ju Jutsu, Judo is not a "Jutsu" it is a Gendai. "Jutsu" arts are not sports, they are meant to kill or maim and are trained for those purposes. Judo for example was designed to be a sport that allows partners to fully resist each others attacks with the thought of always having safety and mutual respect. So dont confuse yourself by thinking semantics is the only difference.

  • @mikey4u1984 No, judo was created as a self defense system developed by Kano Jegoro b/c he couldn't defend himself properly due to his unusually small size. Like countless other styles(e.g.- Karate, Muay Thai, TKD) that started out as martial arts, judo became sport so practioners could safely test their skills. If you don't think judo can be used to kill/maim someone, go find any decent judoka and have him O goshi you on solid concrete and try to not see stars.

  • @TurdFurginson Its funny you say that, O goshi is my favorite tokui waza lol, Yes Judo can be used in self defense but that is not the main purpose of Judo, this is not up for debate but its the truth. Judo purpose is to teach physical and mental strength. Judo is not up for interpretation it is what it is and if you need some clarification go to judoforum and ask some senior sensei, they are very cool and will tell you why Judo is not Ju Jutsu and cannot and shall not be used interchangeably.

  • @mikey4u1984 Well I stand corrected in the fact that judo/aikido/etc. aren't Jiujitsu, but my point was they all fall under the "jutsu" category, meaning they're all of Japanese orginin. If anything it wasn't so much as the philosophy behind each arts that I was discussing but rather the evolution of a technique from one style to another. Thanks for the clarification.

  • @TurdFurginson I think you are referring to "Budo" instead, which is specifically a Japanese umbrella of martial arts and that does include everything you mentioned but im not sure if that is what you mean. Regardless in todays age the lines of martial arts are getting very blurry, they have all taken techniques from each other and that is cool. Just stay out of Ninjitsu and Tae Kwon Do, lol.

  • @mikey4u1984 God don't even get me started on TKD haha but ya I think you get my point.

  • @mikey4u1984 Judo was created for self defense. kano took what he knew from jujitsu and then organized the techniques and removed others so that moves could be practiced at full speed against a resisting opponent as he thought that live sparring was a better way to learn than in kata only. it was not developed to be a sport but to be more sophisticated than jujistu which was just a collection of random techniques. it was adopted as the art for the japanese police before it was called a sport.

  • @TurdFurginson "Shamrock trained in catch wrestling, which borrows a lot of submissions from jiu-jitsu" So what style of Ju Jitsu were you referrig to?

  • @kirokyukan What is this, 20 Questions? Take a step back, read the context of that earlier post, and see what submissions we were JUST discussing that Shamrock used. I'll let you connect the dots.

  • @TurdFurginson "Shamrock trained in catch wrestling, which borrows a lot of submissions from jiu-jitsu" You were referring to JJJ. So why this long speech about the value of differentiating between Ju Jitsu styles?

  • @kirokyukan *Face palm*

No, you're still not getting it. 1.) It was judo. 2.) Like I said, that was an earlier post to some idiot that obviously has no clue about jiujitsu of any shape or form. 3.) Now that I've had "this long speech about the value of differentiating jiujitsu" with you, I'd have thought you would see there is indeed a value on knowing aikido from BJJ for example. Come on, we're just getting redundant now.

  • you guys are brilliant thank you so much

  • what is the different between brazilian jiu jitsu and gracie jiu jitsu?

  • @TheKrille95

    in the simplest sense

BJJ is primarily taught as a sport and for use in a sporting context

GJJ is taught first and foremost as a method of self defense for street fights, which can also be applied inside the ring

  • @TheKrille95 Gracie Jiu Jitsu is seen as self defense and BJJ is seen as a sport.

  • @TheKrille95 Lineage and mostly Self Defense..

  • @TheKrille95

    Its the same thing.

JJ is originally a japanese art. Then, japanese imigrants came to Brazil nd teached it for the Gracies, they adpted it and made the actual JJ known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

  • No matter what people says. Is proved. Its the most effective martial art on thw world. 90% of the ordinay fights ands on the ground, where BJJ is unbeatable.

  • @ferreirafsa Yeah, BJJ is very usefull when you have one guy in a triangle or maybe a RNC and his friend jumps over your head with a brick or sumthin....... BJJ is ONLY god 1 on 1... The BEST thing for self defence is to be Usain Bolt.

  • @HiGHT87

Lol. Agreed, run out and get rid of problems.

  • @TheKrille95 there isn't one.

  • @TheKrille95 gracie family was the one who brought jiujitsu into this world, but brazilian jiujitsu academy nowadays dont include teaching of technique of self defence. but gracie academy still does. :)

  • Thanks guys for fully explaining one of my favorite subs.

  • Pause at 1:32

  • Morons. Ken Shamrock (who never trained BJJ) used arm-triangle chokes in Pancrase before the UFC was created. Saying the Gracies "invented" the triangle choke is ridiculous.

  • @Swervli Morons? Buddy, they learned more about jiu-jitsu in the first decade of their lives then you'll probably ever know. They didn't say they invented the triangle choke, everyone with a brain knows that BJJ is essentially a revised system that brought back many forgotten techniques from JJJ and judo to create a complete ground fighting strategy. Shamrock trained in catch wrestling, which borrows a lot of submissions from jiu-jitsu, so theres the answer to that.

  • @TurdFurginson Actually the Japanese submissions were infuenced more by Catch Wrestling then vice versa. Catch Wrestler used to challenge the old Judo/Ju Jitsu schools all the time, usually winning too.

  • @kirokyukan No it really wasn't if you think about it; classic jiujitsu was created centuries before the West had any contact with Japan and was developed out of the necessity of unarmed/disarmed warriors fighting back armed fighters. JJJ already had dozens of hip/shoulder throws, leg reaps, arm bars, and chokes before catch wrestling was even conceived of. Catch wrestling has nearly no original submissions of its own, and took nearly every submission in the book from jiujitsu and pankration.

  • @TurdFurginson As far as contact goes, that wasant necessary. I'll give you a history lesson. When Alexander conquered the known world he spread Greek culture through out the Orient all the way to India. You Following me? India is the birth place of Budhism which is the father of Shaolin Martial Art which in turn is (arguably) the father of Chinese Martial Arts. The Japanese learned a shit load from the Chinese including their fighting methods.

  • @TurdFurginson The Japanese then took what they learned and mixed it with what they already knew ie Zen Budhism, Karate, and yes even JJ.

Besides this connection however is the direct contact between Catch fighters and Judokas at the turn of the century. Ed Santel was one such fighter who challenged and defeated the entire Kodokan - anybody willing atleast. Through out the yrs both have infulenced one or another, but there are reasons why Catch Wrestling was preserved in Japan.

  • You don't seem to be following me. Yes I'm very aware that judo (not JJJ) and catch wrestling emerged around the same time period, and as a result of that they both developed similar techniques (e.g.- fireman's carry and o goshis). What you don't seem to understand is that catch wrestling is essentially folkstyle wrestling that uses almost all of it's SUBMISSIONS from arts that long preceded it. This leads up to my point that the reason why wrestlers like Shamrock were aware of techniques like

  • i knew shane was screwed when the arm triangle was put in but i didnt realize why he let it happen or all the technique needed to put it in. thx for this video

  • AWESOME VIDEO. MY NEW FAVORITE CHANNEL

  • lol 2 necks

  • Comment removed

  • not everyone uses bjj or jiu-jitsu in mma but some style of grappling not bashing the graices at all just saying just because your learning any style let alone popular ones doesn't make you unbeatable its the fighter, but seriously the reason why some guys beat other guys with grappling because their opponent doesn't know how defend against grappling just saying.

  • @wotgr

    Fedor trains Sambo.

Sonnen doesn't like BJJ cuz its for teh gays.

I think it might be because BJJ focuses almost exclusively on ground fighting.

Some styles are just inferior in certain parts. Like judo now that it has banned leg attacks (dbl leg ) now that nobody can dbl leg during a comp there is no more need to train the counters and it gets fazed out.

Of course a person whose trained in grappling/striking is going to beat an untrained guy. That's why you train in the first place.

  • you guys are so knowledgable and such good teachers. i love watching these breakdowns. u boys keep it real!

  • nice for people tryin to learn to be a fighter but there isnt anyone with matches posted on you tube

  • GOOD SHOW! I love it

  • @ali1278

"If You want peace, Prepare for War" -Julius Caesar

Everyone is polite when anyone can take you out.

"Only the dead have seen the end of war" -Plato

Conflict is what humans do, Either we are evolved animals as Darwin says, Or We are made by God as religions say.

Abram killed the foe of Melchizedek and was found righteous enough to be the 1st of Gods people on earth.

Animals kill, I shouldn't have to say more.

My point is that either way we're hardwired for conflict.

    It is what we do.

  • @americanbandwidth

If you want peace, Prepare for War- Children of Bodom (polish death metal) =D\m/ \m/

  • @indianbadass4568 They are from Finland, not Poland xD

  • @indianbadass4568 Simple mistake! :D

  • @ali1278

As with all true martial arts you are not only training your physical abilities, but also your mind set on life and generally to become a mentally healthy and better person in general. It also shows practical 1 vs 1 defense for someone who may be smaller than their attacker (woman or just a smaller guy).

  • great breakdown thank you

    !

  • If they shot this same video on the beach with the Ricky Martin song Bella playing in the background... would that be gay? Ha!

  • Gracie Jiu Jitsu is too legit to quit!!!!

  • Great vid. One of the best breakdowns I've seen. Keep up the good work guys

  • brock is really developing...at first i viewed him as a brute without technique...but he's learning technique prevails....however i would like to see brock work from a closed guard

  • omg Gracies. Yeah BJJ is an effective style of MMA but get the fuck over it. You guys act like BJJ is the only good style of mma.

  • @carven2004eca what a hater u R?

  • @carven2004eca watch and learn dude ...and shut up.

    "such huge necks"

  • Thank you so much for this, its truly very appreciated.

  • If you dont know jiu-jitsu your not a fighter!!

  • Lol, their dad is not Royce.

  • Jiu-jitsu at it's best. An honor to have watched true experts of the Arts.

  • Thank you, very informative.

  • these two are way to dramatic and too much theatrics....especially in the first 1 and 1/2. and it sounds like they struggling with english

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA Yeah well they are brazillian and u struggle with grammar!

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA They are brazillian and their dad is f&cking ROYCE GRACIE. Bow down kiss his ring.

  • @Sapexec

just like the gracies wanted, sheep. i couldnt give less of a fuck than i do now if they are brazilian or if there dad is rolls fuckin royce much less that scrawny steroid fuck royce gracie (and you yelling doesnt make you right). these gracies mortals are you gods not mine, i dont worship humans

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA

well said, whatever your name is...

  • @FinalMassMonster

    thanks

  • Great video coming from the best name in BJJ

  • The reffing in this fight was disgusting. ANY other ref would have ended the fight NUMEROUS times - even during the same night.

Herb Dean would have ended the fight half way thru the 1st round.

It was great to see it continue, but let's be consistent with the officiating. This was obviously a planned decision delay from the ref and Dana White.

Again, fine, if that is the way going forward, but Lesnar was NOT defending himself - NOT even close!

Carwin was robbed, but is was a great fight.

  • @LancelotLink100

    Carwin was not robbed.

Title/contender fights are never stoped early. For example, Carwin litterally beat down Mir until he was unconsious before the fight was stoped. Lesnar beat Mir down pretty bad before that fight was stoped as well.

Re-wach the fight, most of those blows from Carwin hit Lesnar's forearm's, not his head, and Lesnar never showed signs of being unconsious.

Don't blame Dana because Carwin has horrible staminia and couldn't last more than a round.

  • WELL THIS IS GAY

  • Love these breakdown videos, and the enthusiasm these guys have for BJJ. I hope they make a video for every fight that contains BJJ finishes.

  • Remember guys no body has hit Brock Lesnar every hard in his life like Carwin did. The one that comes to mind is Brock going head first with his Shooting Star Press.

So now Brock know whats it's like to be hit really hard and be able to still fight

  • How many times do you think Cain has watched this???

  • @harpor34 Cain's BJJ is very solid, he's not getting caught in this.

  • @underdogs247 I don't think he really has a choice.

  • @harpor34 i would say hundreds but when he tried to type the name in the computer broke

  • @harpor34 once :) then he has it down :)

  • @harpor34 How many times were you voted up???

  • @harpor34 597

  • @harpor34 and it worked!

  • this is awesome, thx:) i understand more now:)

  • Amazing information. These videos show the sport for what it really is. Art.

  • great breakdown.. heh.. loved the moment at 6:00 ...

    "if you have a 285 pound...." *thinks for a moment* "... person.." :D :D :P

  • Hey guys, i have the complete UFC event collection on DVD (UFC 1 – UFC 117) + UFC fight night collection (fight night 1 – fight night 21) + the ultimate fighter collection (season 1 – season 11), if you are interested in buying, then send me a message.

  • There's always counter in every dangerous technique.

  • as a boxer I am shit scared of the MMA and UFC - thanks to you both I train like a beast. this is very interesting - scary but interesting

  • as a boxer I am shit scared of the MMA and UFC - thanks to you both I train like a beast. this is very interesting

  • @Paul3love u dont need to be scared of MMA its BJJ.

  • @link10304 I am what I am and as long as I stay effective then so be it vs another boxer or any other art including bjj. If I were still fighting I would not have been stupid and fought a bjj without studying it - news to you my friend - every martial art has its weak points, blind spots and vulnerable spots what ever you wanna call it - I would have worked on mine and found the their bjj - just for the record.

  • @Paul3love i do Boxing too well used to ive Boxed a few times in europe as a amature won 3 national titles i love Boxing but ive moved on now from it tho and know hope to take up Jiu Jitsu preferbly Brazilian but i dont have any BJJ clubs near me BJJ is like Boxing in a way its a game of chess one wrong move and you get puinshed big style

  • @link10304 sometimes you can get away with it but its like the matrix in there - all slow motion and you cant avoid the punch or you think 'shit, that was a crap punch he is gonna counter that no prob' and to those watching its all in a mili second - anyway - ref MMA to scared to come across to boxing old kimbo is thinking of just that! That would be interesting...

  • as a boxer I am shit scared of the MMA and UFC - thanks to you both I train like a beast.

  • Good breakdown boyz!

  • the guy in the white reminds me a lot of Kendall Grove

  • @iggy082 its already on their page :)

  • Interesting!

  • they better be working on a breakdown vid for the silva / sonnen fight!

  • @iggy082 there is one....

  • is this gay porn?

  • @darkstar3x16 only homos think like that.

  • @darkstar3x16 you damn right it is

  • @CondemnedPhury

Actually I am Renzo Gracie...so yeah, asshole ;)

  • The space generator from the arm triangle should not be attempted to be held for an extended period, rather carwin should have placed his elbow directly into brock's ear/temple/back of head and used leverage to pry himself free. Elbow crowbar to the ear/temple hurts like a bitch. Like having your head in a vice

  • thanks so much for this breakdown, true class and masters.

    God bless guys.

  • I just found there videos. As a UFC fan who doesn't train in MMA I have to say these videos are great. A nice understanding and a lot of things I missed.

  • fake fight!!!

  • you fools, that fight was fake.

  • just started taking ju-jitsu (machado bjj), and these breakdowns really help the beginner understand the complexities of the subs and counters. keep the vids coming guys.

  • that last move was similar to the triangle choke that Anderson Silva used

  • Umm, carwin couldn't have survived the arm triangle because he already had one foot out the door....you guys are retarded.

  • these guys sound canadian.. i swear

  • i Subbed to Gracie's, they know real MMA

  • EXCELENTE video, y la explicación no deja lugar a dudas!!! Son unos capos estos hermanos, la verdad!!! Saludos desde Argentina!!

  • Great analysis of the fight!

  • fuck u

  • hey, you're right, two necks WOULD be the best option. :)

  • my fav submission

  • Please break down Anderson vs Chael. Because unless I was seeing things? Anderson had a Triangle Choke, an armbar, and a leg lock all in one. Crazy. When you look @ the replay? Anderson employed some very crazy BJJ by securing Chael's leg over his stomach, of course the arm, and the triangle. I've never seen 3 submissions in 1 EVER in MMA. PLEASE break it down! Thank you sirs!

  • It's such a fascinating art/science/sport.

  • Another squeezing option that i like a lot is....squeezing my penis!

    Great video, regardless!

  • Thank you Gracie's for taking your time to sharing this.

  • Fantastic breakdown and analysis. The Gracie family legacy is in good hands.

  • It's not so much as there is much neck to choke, as there is less space.

  • ha he said," true that."

  • Charles Oliveria 41 second submission by triangle/arm bar breakdown, please?

  • nice vid i learned something.

  • The problem for Carwin was that he thought Lesner was going to pound the hell out of him so only had the thought of defending punches. It would now appear that Lesner has in fact learnt some martial arts. This is a judo move which even the Gracie's said they wouldn't necessarily use and isn't overly successful but then again Lesner is so strong he can just force it to work.

Lesner's strength is the key here.

  • I love it how Brock beat Carwin at Mirs game. I hear Franky boy did not watch the fight.....I'm not even going to attempt to watch the Nog v. Mir II, can't believe the UFC is even going to have this one......waste of time and money. Mirs career is swirling around the toilet bowl.

  • @hydrobot2003

you're lame and disgusting, but mostly lame.

  • @GatsuugaX - Still ROFLMAO!! you're a fag.

  • @hydrobot2003

well, i think youre a punk and talk too much about gay stuff.

and judging from your gay comment, i have also came to the conclusion that you give it AND receive it like a bitch. LOL!!
