I loved seeing these great openings again. It brings back so many good memories from my childhood. I use to watch Highway to Heaven, Cheers, Rags to Riches, and Perfect Strangers. Since I was only able to see one or two episodes of A Year In The Life, I would love to be able to watch the entire series on DVD.
Ifuseekamy grow up, the world shall always have diversity till the earth passes away. My hope is you didn't go to college, for a college learned racist is just worse than being a Nazi fool. Let's enjoy the 80s in peace. Memories of times when common sense was wide spread.
@Wilzehagawa How the fuck did she directly imply race? I think she meant the song dumbass. I love how you always play the race card. You're talking about diversity yet you wish she didn't go to college? Nice hypocrisy. Common sense was wide spread in the 80's? LOL where were you when they were handing out common sense?
@Wilzehagawa What did she say that caught your attention as it being racist? It has black people in it. She was talking about the song, dumbass. Don't make assumptions when you don't know shit. You're preaching about diversity yet you wish she didn't go to college? Why not just turn the other cheek? And you're even dumber than I thought if you thought common sense was widespread back in the 80's. Did you ever learn about AIDS back in the 80's in health class?
@Popteart If it was her against the song then my apologies toher, you and all youtube viewers that saw my comment. I shall wait for her reply to mine, if she indeed is racist then I multiply my earlier comment by 10.
I totally agree with Dorsalfin, although I am bias... I worked on the show.. and I have some great lifetime memories.. We filmed a lot in the Seattle/Edmonds area.. It was so much fun! I miss the cast and crew!
What a great show that was. It would be on par today with anything that HBO or Showtime produces and wins Emmys for. This once in awhile great show from NBC of all networks unfortunately was cancelled after 1 year :(
HOw I hated Thirtysomething....as a gay man if there ever was a show that was too "straight", this was it...even with the gay charachter....just nothing to relate to as a gay man...hated it, hated it, hated it. :)
I was born in the mid 1980's but I can remember some of these shows distinctively, especially Highway to Heaven. They don't make TV like they used to. It almost makes me want to cry.
I'm glad to see a people still remember A Year in the Life. That was a classy, thoughtful, intelligent series that unfortunately got canceled way too soon. I remember Richard Kiley won an Emmy after the fact in 1988 and alluded to this in his speech.
BTW: Whatever happened to Amanda Peterson??? She was quite the it girl in the late 80s and then disappeared completely.
@crxman28562 Yes, but the show was apparently deemed "too intelligent" for the American public (ie, the "suits" in the high towers of the network offices wanted to churn out more blank, dumbed-down shows as they received better ratings somehow.
It's no different today - look at what happened to Firefly and The Sarah Connor Chronicles!
I remember one episode of A Year in the Life where a blond guy was playing football at the end and they were playing Peter Gabriel's Mercy Street and I remember thinking how that was an oh so cool moment.
Crime Story was an amazing show with a lousy timeslot. I hated the fact they ended the show on a cliffhanger.

Heh heh...Crime Story..."Dick Banger"!
Still, Crime Story was cool, as was the other collaberation at that time between Farina and Mann (Manhunter).

@kcroyalfanatic ...At least Micheal Mann was able to bring Farina and Smitrovitch in on Manhunter (superior to Red Dragon, IMO).
