these are not muslims, these are indians some converted to muslim but they are still indians ..so indians are talented musicians... you notice nothing electronically to enhance the sound , for thousands of years they have been doing this. this is greatness

you may be true but this song is more likely for the famous jalal (jalal-bubna) is a famous love story of rajasthan( read laxmikumari chundawat's rajasthani prem kathayen).
On the Sam sand dunes...at night with a fire burning and the embers flying to meet the starry night...watching the moon washed Jaisamler fort in the background, sipping a single malt....the magic of manganiyar and langa's through your soul...time stops....
Some quick background about the origins of the song.
This song was composed in the 15 th Century. The reigning Mughal Emperor (Akbar - full name Jallaludin Mohammad Akbar) decided to marry a Rajput (Hindu) princess named Jodhabai (princess of Jaipur-Rajasthan). It is a custom in Rajasthan to sing songs when the Groom arrives. This song was composed and sung when Akbar arrived to wed Jodhabai (hence the usage Maro Jallalo Billalo (Akbar - please notice the reference to his name -- Jallaudin.)
hey asshole it has nothing to do with akbar or mohommadans u bitch its much older dates back to rajput antiquity kesar depicts a rajput kshatriya "saffron hued person"

A friend of mine went to see these guys at a church in Chicago, where we live. Before they began the performance, there was a long period of silence where they just stared at the audience. He liked the dude with the castanets most, which in this case are individual pieces of wood tucked in between the fingers- it looks impossible to play. One musician gave a jaw harp to him, and others tried to sell everything to the audience members - shoes, jewelry, etc....

Could somebody do a translation of the lyrics for us foreigners, please?
ABEZH 4 years ago
Translated :
maro (my) Jallalo Bilalo (reference to Akbar)
maro (my) maru (desert) matvalo(no exact phrase in english that I can re-collect. Something like a Lover.)
maro (my) kasariyo (Saffron color. this is used because traditionally in weddings the groom wears a kesariya- Saffron headress.) balam (lover)
ghare (home) aave (coming) si.
-- to sum up I am eagerly waiting for my groom, who would come to my house wearing a Saffron colored turban / headress.
I hope that this helps.
