Trent Reznor is a very influential artist. This guy is a true BRAIN in rock music with original style and sound. He is respected by all - even by artists like Gabriel and Bowie for example. Rock on !
Great version! It is in fact a cover, Trent did not co-write this song with Bowie, but he did remix it for the single version. I love seeing Trent play synth at the end.
@1yellowapple no, the song was written by David Bowie and Brian Eno, during the sessions of 1.Outside (1994-95), and then published in Earthling in 1997. Trent Reznor made a remix of the song, which was released as a single (and videoclip). So this is a cover, actually.
@1yellowapple Wrong. It is a David Bowie song, written by Bowie and Brian Eno, from the album Earthling. Trent did some remixes, found on the CD single.
I had the best experience meeting NIN at the Austin, TX show on their last tour. Very cool that Trent Reznor had signed my tank top on my belly when I was 7 months pregnant! He said that I was the 1st pregnant woman that he had ever signed on the belly! Thought I would share my experience with NIN.
wiki says "The song, co-written by Bowie and Brian Eno"
"A Taxi Driver-influenced music video was produced for the "I'm Afraid of Americans (V1)" remix, starring David Bowie and Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor. "
@hotrocking correctamundo! If you have the studio version you can hear Trent back Dave in "No one needs anyone part" and he's also backing Dave on the chorus. I believe the song itself though was written by Trent. I could be wrong though.
@hotrocking Kinda the same way they do with All The Young Dudes. They says David Bowie is covering Mott The Hoople when in reality, David Bowie wrote All The Young Dudes for Mott The Hoople and then started performing it himself a few years later.
@trentik Yeah. Single version was remixed by Reznor. And not your usual remix - all the parts other than the vocal were totally rerecorded (because there was never a song that needed remixing more than that original version. Bowie's live treatment of it owed a hell of a lot to the NIN version.
David Bowie and Brian Eno wrote this song. Trent did the remix of the song for the radio/single version and added some backing vocals.
