they filmed a dancer on the set to track jessica's movements for the song, laid the animation over top of it so you only saw her and spliced it with a 'blank plate' (the set without the dancer)...there's a feature on the special edition called 'behind the ears', it's an A-MA-ZING full-length documentary on how they made this film...it's truly remarkable, because this whole thing was done without computers; not a stitch of CGI in this movie

this is a great scene from a great, imaginative, innovative movie. Never did I think that a cartoon character could actually exude sexuality, but that's exactly what Jessica Rabbit does. Obviously, she fictional, but she does draw a lot on both Veronica Lake (a body of water I would have love to take a long swim in!) and Rita Hayworth (especially from "Gilda"). She is one smokin' Toon.

for this particular scene, if i remember correctly, they filmed the sequence with a dancer to track her movements, then shot the same sequence without her, used the blank one to fill in Jessica... for the scenes where Jessica interacts with people, they somehow traced Jessica over the dancer using some kind of splice between the dancer footage and the blank footage...there is a fantastic documentary called 'behind the ears' on making the film on the special edition DVD of the film.
