  • @rchrdccrs Yeah. Seriously does not belong in the "toy" category.

  • I love the sounds of this synth, they are great! I've got a PSS-470 and I love it so much and I've got a demo of it.

These little toys are fun to mess around with and have fun with!

    Love the classic toys

  • Hey! I have a Yamaha PSS-380 as well. Is there any possibility of getting it working connected to a PC? Like, for recording stuff. Thanks!

  • @luisfeliperasmuss hey i have a yamaha pss480 and it has full midi look around you will get one cheap i got mine on ebay for £18 awsome little synth

  • that's why I love it though...I'm addicted to noise and aliasing..I have a VSS-30 and love it to death. I want something with similar sound quality but more editable and capable of more sounds...might have to get a PSS 380 and PSS 480 so I have midi

  • How would you say this compares to the DX100? do you like this one better?

  • @errorspending the DX100 is a full programmable FM synth, the PSS-390 is only a toy, the sound quality is a noise & aliasing party ;-). Sometimes you need dirty digital sounds. But I would prefer a DX7 over a DX100.

  • As far as toy-synthesizers go, the ones in the Yamaha PSS-series with editable parameters are definitely as good as they get. You can make some genuinely usable sounds on these little boxes.

  • this is the main keyboard used for sound effects in my old band, The ottomen. check it out at ottomen.com. I just posted a song that features it on our blog.

  • i have a juno d, could i use this as a controller using the patches from another keyboard?

  • can you record stuff? or even better make it loop?

  • thats the best shit EVAH

  • @bestsingeralive1 i'm interested. how much?

  • @bestsingeralive1 have you sold it yet?

  • I GOT THE PSS-370

  • I used to have one of those, or at least, something like it. I know it had the sliders, though.

  • Does it have Phones out?

    What's the polyphony?

    Thanks!!!

  • @javiceres yes, headphones output. 8 voice polyphonic I think.

  • Thanks ^_^

  • i have pss280, small brother as 380, same sound but without sliding ability, wowowow....

  • ayyy que bonitos recuerdos me trae este teclado es tan ochentero!!! :D mi abuela tiene uno y recuerdo que cuando era niña el sonido UFO me daba mucho miedo XD

  • Nice video. Thanks for uploading.

  • I love this and want one so much! Where do you find these? Not on eBay, apparently. Thrift stores?

  • I found it at a flea market...

  • wuenissimoo!!!! han querido comprármelo pero yo no lo suelto por nada del mundo!!!

  • I really would kill for one of these FM "toy" synths, i have a PSS-170 and 270 but they do not have the programmable synth.

  • i got a pss 780 and i looooove it , but since i got a tx81z i do not use the pss 780 mouch ;) I love FM for any reason , i think the sounds remind me of my childhood or someting ^^

  • my first keyboard.. that was a time :D :D :D

  • Yo tengo el mismo teclado y la verdad no me gusta, quiero uno de los nuevos :D

  • Dude came up to me @ work & asked if I'd pay $40 for his old keyboard. I was unsure but got the model number anyway & by the loox of this video it's totally worth it! Thanx for providing such an example.

  • those sounds are actually quite good!

  • Awesome! I own a Yamaha PSS 680 and it sounds very different in some ways. Especially because of the "arpegiator" like sequenced pad you played 1:47

Looks like my 680 needs some accomplishment ;) The sliders are awesome for live tweaking. But i think the 380/390 comes without MIDI trio and pitchbendwheel, right?

  • Right - it has no MIDI an no pitchbendwheel.

The only Yamaha FM synth-homekeyboard with sliders AND midi is the PSR-36.

  • Reminds me some of the computer games of the late 80's and early 90's.

  • Wow, those sounds are certainly not what you would expect from a kids keyboard like that, I like it a lot. Very spaced out sound effects, the kind of sounds bands like Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode would use. I'm going to guess this unit can run on batteries. You could have hours of fun experimenting with the different sounds and seeing what you could come up with.

  • interesting sounds :)

  • why not ;)

  • synthi AKG? Do you mean AKS? ;-)

  • My first keyboard was a pss 595. nice keyboard.
