Goku actually opted not to be wished back, and only comes to Earth in the Buu Saga because he had earned a single day's reprieve back on Earth for his good deeds. They had tried to wish him back, but he felt that him being alive on Earth put the planet in danger. The only reason he comes back to life during the Buu saga is because the Rou Kaioushin (the "Elder" Kai) sacrifices his life to restore Goku's. The Dragonballs had nothing to do with it.

This was the original ending for DBZ...but the fans wanted more of the seiries and so Buu Saga was created. Akira Toriyama said he would have kept Future Trunks if he knew he was going to continue the story.

@nex89 Screw superman. He's nothing compared to Goku. Superman's death from Doomsday was noble but Goku willingly sacraficed his life on quite a few occassions (Raditz, Cell, and was planning on blowing himself up with Omega Shenron). Plus Goku trained hard for his power because he only had an average single digit power level when he was a baby and he worked hard to become the strongest that ever lived while superman got all his powers from no work, just the sun & they're on 2 different scales

Yea, they atleast tried to make it emotional for all the characters but there was always a freaking way to get them back. Superman didn't die in Doomsday either, he died in All Star Superman and it was the greatest comic book story I've ever read, I recommend it to everyone.

That is very true, in fact death and ressurection is so frequent in db/dbz that it's trivial and really can not evoke any emotion from the audience...when you think about it, out of all the "good" characters that die, not one stays dead, they all ALWAYS come back.

@dissarey9165 Sacrifice is nothing in Dragon Ball Z because he can just be brought back in the next fucking season. Yea, they atleast tried to make it emotional for all the characters but there was always a freaking way to get them back. Superman didn't die in Doomsday either, he died in All Star Superman and it was the greatest comic book story I've ever read, I recommend it to everyone.

That is very true, in fact death and ressurection is so frequent in db/dbz that it's trivial and really can not evoke any emotion from the audience...when you think about it, out of all the "good" characters that die, not one stays dead, they all ALWAYS come back.
