Hi jeff! I am 14 year old. I love to make weapons of wood in the forest. I use to have a pocket knife that had 4-5 inch blade. I want a bigger knife thats more than 5 inches. Do you think a swedish Mora knife would be good knife to the woods?

Thank God I live in Texas; if someone is advancing on me and I feel threatened, I am completely within my rights to draw down on them immediately and shoot them if they refuse to stop. Honestly I feel like this applies everywhere, under the "I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6" concept.

I'm 11 years old and i took martial arts for 4 years. We were trained in knife fighting and improvised weapons. It really helps to know how to do that stuff. And from personal experience that martial arts does help.

murder is unlawful killing with malace aforethought. killing in self defense does not have a term under the law because it is justified. if excesive force is used in self defense it is called 'imperfect self defense'.
My mom told me of a story of her friend that got stabbed to death in a fight because they were all drunk and he was trying to defend himself. But sadly they couldn't figure out which one of the four people stabbed him (and witsec moved the bastard that they think did it.)
What you've got to remember is that anything with more heft and reach than a knife (Like a bat) will beat a knife, if the guy has enough sense to use that heft and reach. Also, in a knife fight you will get cut. It's 100% certain you'll get cut. Also, if you haven't been trained to fight with a weapon, don't bring a weapon, because if the guy you're against CAN use it, there's a pretty good chance he can disarm you and use it himself, and you've just brought him a knife to cut you with.

I had a situation similar to what your tags suggest. My dog chomped on a chipmunk and left it twitching and spazzing on the ground. I had to kill it, off with its head and into the woods. Also had to kill a mouse outside my work that had rabies.

Knife fighting is not something that I would recommend people seem to forget if it's one guy with knife vs unarmed person guy with knife wins. But when it's knife vs knife both people usually get seriously injured most of the time.

Just wanted to respond to your necessary vs excessive force... There was a kid in my area who was attacked, pulled a knife, and stabbed and killed his attacker. The young man was stabbed fourteen times and ended up being let off because of stand your ground laws. If you are in a situation like this and your fight or flight response takes over, you won't have time to think about it, you will just do what you need to do to survive.
About the planning part, I had a wake-up call about having different levels of force with which you can respond to something last month...a drunk jock had an umbrella, I think it was, and mimed swinging it at me as I was riding toward him on my ;bicycle. My first thought was "shit!" The second was something along the lines of, "Really bitch? You want a knife in your ass?" My third was "WTF am I saying?! I don't want to stab anyone!" Luckily he just laughed as I rode off.
If a complete stranger says something offensive to me for no reason out of the blue, I will hit them first then laugh it off wile they are getting off the ground.

@andrewvanrhoberts honestly, you don't have to be too rough with a knife (if it is sharp). Most my knives would slide in someone like a hot knife through butter with NO effort. Just a quick poke, jobs done. Ofcourse a knife is my LAST RESORT in defense.. mostly I would use my martial arts training to take someone out if I needed to, much cleaner and less legal trouble.
within the law you can be the first to engage if you are in fact in danger...the legalities that come afterward may be pretty F'd up for the innocent but hey, what can you do? get beat to a pulp with a fractured vertebrae, detached retina, and ruptured spleen? damn, lemme stop commenting so consecutively in the tags before people get pissed off at me. i'm a big knife carrying advocate and i use it daily for menial tasks such as opening stuff and occasionally cutting food as well.
my best advice would be to not go for vital cuts but to go for the easiest access cuts (in multiple succession) in order to facilitate the truly debilitating cuts. oh, and don't forget to hang onto your blade bc if you let it go you're F'd!
people, check out luke holloway from japan...actually from australia but curently lives in japan. he founded RCI (raw combat international) and the guy is a serious pro with great practical defense strategies for street fighting and knife use and defense.
using a blade is no joke. i haven't had to do it yet but if i did, i'd be reluctant to even employ the use of it since you can leave a guy bleeding to death on the sidewalk. nontheless, study some basic anatomy so you can get the guy's major arteries.

@zysilveria yeah, however, that makes it illegal. also, a lot of people will carry a knife themselves, so now it's a game of chicken over life and death, and if you pull a knife, many times the fight or flight reflex will go down the "fight" path, now you have a struggle (usually lethal) over a blade you never intended to use. stabbing someone is not fun, try and be ready to use anything you pull out...

Knife fighting is not something that I would recommend people seem to forget if it's one guy with knife vs unarmed person guy with knife wins. But when it's knife vs knife both people usually get seriously injured most of the time.

Just wanted to respond to your necessary vs excessive force... There was a kid in my area who was attacked, pulled a knife, and stabbed and killed his attacker. The young man was stabbed fourteen times and ended up being let off because of stand your ground laws. If you are in a situation like this and your fight or flight response takes over, you won't have time to think about it, you will just do what you need to do to survive.

About the planning part, I had a wake-up call about having different levels of force with which you can respond to something last month...a drunk jock had an umbrella, I think it was, and mimed swinging it at me as I was riding toward him on my ;bicycle. @andrewvanrhoberts honestly, you don't have to be too rough with a knife (if it is sharp). Most my knives would slide in someone like a hot knife through butter with NO effort. Just a quick poke, jobs done. Ofcourse a knife is my LAST RESORT in defense.. mostly I would use my martial arts training to take someone out if I needed to, much cleaner and less legal trouble.

my best advice would be to not go for vital cuts but to go for the easiest access cuts (in multiple succession) in order to facilitate the truly debilitating cuts. oh, and don't forget to hang onto your blade bc if you let it go you're F'd!

@zysilveria yeah, however, that makes it illegal. also, a lot of people will carry a knife themselves, so now it's a game of chicken over life and death, and if you pull a knife, many times the fight or flight reflex will go down the "fight" path, now you have a struggle (usually lethal) over a blade you never intended to use. stabbing someone is not fun, try and be ready to use anything you pull out...
