just my opion the savage axis 223 is a nail driver at 200+ i bought mine from my buddy who has a licenes it was only 400 $ came with a bushnell 3 to 9 i swaped my reminton 700s scope that is a 5.5 to 30 and now it is a very accurate gun
i just have to ask this were in the hell did you find a camo cowboy hat i have been hunting or find some around here in vermont and other places but cant find any
hahahaha i just wanted to watch some 30-06 videos. Instead i find the guy who shot himself on tosh.o. It was a nice web redemption, but i'm not taking your advice!
I got my kid one in 22-250. With my handloads and off MY shoulder, the rifle shoots sub-moa. And by sub-moa I mean groups between 1/8 to 1/4". I get 1/2" at 200 yards. His aren't so great but he's still learning. These budget rifles prove that accuracy is there. If you can't pull MOA out of these, you're either a gun snob or you don't know how to shoot. And no amount of money you spend will make you any better. The rifle is a launching pad. The rest is up to you.
You had me a 4 minutes, made my nite. Came here with .243 .25-06 in search tab. Would love to hear your views on the .243 for plinking with hunting ammo at say 300m? subd :L)
hey tex you are not going to be a part of tho,s kid,s bullying group are you? i hope not i realy like your vid,s and i think you got a good thing going for you but sumtin like that could reck your chances to go on real tv. any ways i on sub for now till sum1 sez sorry for acting like a kid. i hope to resub good luck on your choice.(love your vids)
Bought a Stevens 200 in 22.250 and a cheap Bushnell Banner 6-18 x 50 scope to match. Will have a go at lightening the trigger when it gets here in a week. Cheers.
The Stevens Model 200 is THE BEST value, hands down! My .243 has repeatedly shot 3-shot groups covering a dime at 100 yards. What more do you want from a rifle?
@MILLATERYBOY depends on your state hunting laws, if you can hunt deer with a .243 i would recommend that. It's a great round for varments and it can easily take down a deer
@m70c00l Depends on the specific 110. The 200 has a Savage action and barrel. But it doesn't include the accutrigger. The stock is a tad flimsy, but the barrel is free-floated and pillar-bedded. It's not a heavy barrel though. That said, they're HIGHLY capable shooters. My 200 in .223 is capable of 1/2" groups at 100 yards with handloads.
Mmmmmm god your hot Tex! What I wouldn't do to lube you up and make you my bitch while boning you in the back of your pickup. I am just sitting here whacking my meat watching you.
hunting deer, yotes, hogs, all at around 200yds or less in west tx.. will the .270 hold its ground here. i have too many 30.06 fans around here, i seem to lean to .270 right or wrong?
@jsilvatx- I hunt S. Texas whitetail, hogs & javelinas. I bought this rifle in a .270 because I got tired of being paranoid about taking my Medallion Series Browning out in the elements. I put a 3x9 Leupold scope perfect for 100 yds so you might wanna go bigger for 200 yds. I also couldn't be happier with the grouping. I use 130 grain Ballistic pt Winchester & have not lost any game that I have hit. You should be just fine in West Texas. BTW Very Accurate Review, I thought I got lucky with mine.
@hookincatfish1 Ya know. I own a Marlin XL-7 30-06. Personaly it is very versitile. i paid $329.oo It came ready to go with tapped/mounted tac. rails on it, witch makes it pretty rough n tough and a 3-9x 40mm scope. the scope it came with it is pretty cheep so i bought a Leupold rifleman 3-9x 40mm to mount on it and it is great. The marlin xl-7 series is also great because it has an adjustable, acutrigger(marlins version((same thing as savage or stevens))).
I got the savage edge in 243. I got it for coyote, and groundhog. But I just want to know, I have custom loaded rounds with 100 gr. bullets, will it kill a black bear? On the case it says medium sized game like whitetail deer, mule deer, and black bear. but it isn't legal to hunt bear where I live, yet... I was just wondering
@crisshort1996 Will it kill a black bear? Sure it will but the .243 is way under gunned for that purpose.. a bear is a very very tough animal and I wouldn't recommend anything less than a .270, shooting a minimum of a 140 grain premium grade hunting bullet such as noslers ballistic tip or barnett triple shock. Hope this helps! Happy hunting.
Just bought my model 200 day in 7mm-08.. brand new bare gun. was $239 bought a nice scope plus mounts and rings and a box of shells .. came out to $429 after tax's .. i havent got a chance to shoot it yet.. but i love it already
I've got one in 30.06 and I like it. The only problem is you have to dry it everytime you come back from your hunt because otherwise, it starts rusting. Apart from that, it's perfect for the price and very accurate at the range. One of the best bargain on the market.
Here in Australia it is illegal to shot deer with anything less then a 22 270, but i have had plenty of mates take down deer with a 22 250, you'll be right mate! I pick up my 30.06 stevens mod 200 with a 3-9-42 scope in 6 weeks cant wait!
Another bargain gun is the Reminton 700 ADL. I got mine for $440 at Dicks sporting goods. It was .308 with SPS stock in Mossy Oak, Heavy 26" varmint barrel, long action. Came with a fairly decent scope. May have been on sail, I don't know. Great vid, I've been a NRA life member since I was 12, I'm 15. Join, protect your rights and those of the next generation, my generation.
a gun that isnt exactly cheap, but is absolutely AMAZING, is the Browning X-Bolt synthetic stock Medallion .308. its AMAZING instead of kicking straight back, it angles it into your shoulder so that it stays pretty stationary.
Will remove your hat @ 500 yards with my 25-06 . . . Will remove your hat @ 880 yards with my 30-378. Both with a nosler ballistic tip which will also remove your head - completely!
i do agree its a good rifle for the money...but its no where near the quality that police sniper need....and beter calibers for snipers rifles are 308, 270 or even a 223...police snipers use them when there are alot of people or property and they dont want the bullet to blow through and cause any damage to people or property...
I just got a 22 250, but am a little iffy about shooting a whitetail with it. Cant say ive ever done it so dont know if it has enough take down power to get er done? Any input or suggestions? I assume that a higher grain shell would work fine, but would like some input before i try it and wound something....
im looking to hunt deer i have a 200 in .223 its all about shot placement so i guessed it would be enough to lay down a deer... other people are telling me diffrent but im confused if the army boys can shoot there semis at people at 300 yrds and drop um why not a deer?
Hey Tex...I'm looking for the right caliber for me. I'm setting it up as a more "tactical" rifle. But I'd still like to get long range out of it. Guy at my work who's a big hunter keeps pushing the 7mm rem. Say's it has the best "all around" characteristics (accuracy, range, speed, takedown) or whatever. Gunshops keeps pushing the .308 on me. Then my other option is the .300win. I want something for defense and survival. What do you think?
@derekgrebner87 Savage isn't really selling the Stevens m200 up where I am.. What do you think of the Edge, or Savage m111 FCXP... Both at Cabelas...Any Info would be helpful. Thank you. Cudos on supporting the NRA, just became a member a few weeks ago.
@filo4life11 in my hunting time i have had both the .270 and now use the .30-06
if you are mainly deer hunting and possibly coyotes if you see one then i recommend go with the .30-06 ( that is depending on if you want the coat from the coyote, if not then .30-06 ) you have that extra bit of knockdown power, the .270 is a great round to knock down large animals ( kangaroo/red deer ) but id pick my .30-06 anyday over the ,270
This was a very modest review of a great gun. I had a savage model 10fp until i sold it to my friend because my wife became interested in mid distance shooting, got two stevens m200 in .308 for the price i sold my savage for. Threw some burris 3-9x40mm fullfield scopes with tac 2 knobs and ballistic plex in some one piece talley rings. set trigger to 3.5lbs and both are extremely accurate for being under $600 each. The guys at savage/stevens are doing a hell of a job. Great review
nice video, what do you think of the marlin rifles and the mossberg rifles. do you plain on doin an accuracy test on the rifle thanks and keep on truckn
ive been out of the hunting scene since i was young. i want to start again i want to hunt hog/deer in west texas will the .243 do the job and have a good price round to boot with availability?? any advice is appreciated!! thnkx
Yeah.. a .243 will do the Job alright. I use a .223 with Nosler Partition handloads on Hogs and Deer in Nz and they have never failed me...But like any rifle shot placement is the Key and for that reason the .223 is cheap to shoot so you can practise alot. I dont think you can use anything less than .243 up your way though... and I have owned a Miroku in that caliber and it was very effective but cost alot more for me to fire.
i just bought my new rifle today its a savage model 111 in 7mm rem mag it came with a 3-9x40 bushnel scope and i paid $666.75 that incuds tax and a box of ammo. ill try and get a review on this gun in a few days
bought mine last year for 250 for new for my first gun. im 15 now and got a wasr10 ak as my second semi. btw the ugly ass blue stock needs painted. mine is :)
Basically, The stock, accutrigger, and a big chunk of change. I've got a stevens 200 in 7MM-08 and I love every bit of it. Sure it's a bit ugly, but does what your shooting really care how much money you spent on your gun or how it looks?
I have one in .223 and it easily shoots sub 1MOA out of the box. Howver in that caliber, a lot of people have problems with it not feeding properly (the bolt likes to skip over the 2nd and 3rd round sometimes) but you can fix it by playing around with the follower spring. I picked mine up for less than $300 canadian last year :]
Like if you saw Tex on Tosh.0
CODthug123 5 days ago
Did you really just say that it has a free floated barrel??
And you have tape wrapped around the stock and barrel lmao
So does it shoot sub MOA??
I think il just stick with my remington SPS tactical 308 instead of the ''HIGH VALUE STEVENS 243''

@brap290 My dear sir, this rifle is the same action and barrel as the model savage model 10.
The main difference is the stock and it has no magazine drop plate.

another good budget gun is the new Marlin bolt action centerfire rifles. they are made by Savage i beleive and have the similar acutrigger design.

Yeah.. a .243 will do the Job alright.

The stevens model 200 is what was available to me, but both seem like very high value rifles.
derekgrebner87 2 years ago
i found that exact gun but in 399 in 3 differant stores and each place its cost is $399.99
rcmannumber1 2 years ago
that is way over priced... you should be able to get it for under 300.
derekgrebner87 2 years ago

the cheapest i could find it for (in California) was $450.00 after tax and everything else.
and that is the cheapest bolt gun ive seen, new, in california. thanks for the review, i needed some info on this.

That Stevens/Savage is the most accurate rifle for the money. More accurate that most custom jobs they can shoot the pants off a Weatherby any day.
And they still are the uglyest rifles made.

My sister just ordered that rifle and wanted to know what scope bases did you use?
SuppressiveFire77 2 years ago

what is the difference in the model 111 and the model 200?
markunit72 2 years ago
Basically, The stock, accutrigger, and a big chunk of change. I've got a stevens 200 in 7MM-08 and I love every bit of it. Sure it's a bit ugly, but does what your shooting really care how much money you spent on your gun or how it looks?
TheBoHproductions 2 years ago
i dont really care about the stock i would just get the thumbhole stock
markunit72 2 years ago
I have one in .223 and it easily shoots sub 1MOA out of the box. Howver in that caliber, a lot of people have problems with it not feeding properly (the bolt likes to skip over the 2nd and 3rd round sometimes) but you can fix it by playing around with the follower spring. I picked mine up for less than $300 canadian last year :]

ha, Wow. go for the Remington 25-06. Much better 3,200 ft per sec and 2,500 feet high
