The South of the United States remained traditional and very preserving. A black friend that I know, was in Alabama last year, and in a restaurant the waiters refused to serve to him because it was black! It is lamentable! Shame on you! The South will be never independent!

It's not "Southerners" who supported slavery, it's the owners of the Plantation economy who did. The 1% of the time. Missouri wanted to join the union. The Federal Government said "ok, but no slaves." At the time, it was up to the States to decide if they wanted slaves. The South said "hey, lay off. Let them choose." The Feds said "HA! Good one." Then the South Attacked.
