  • I'm a pianist who can play Liszt, hahaha, Technically difficult pieces would be a breeze if I had this!

  • Isn't the chart missing some notes?

  • @SandeProHiQu The chart only shows the keys you have to play with your right hand (in a real piano). The missing notes are left hand notes.

  • This pro keys version is a fucking joke.

  • @tonibcnn How?

  • @Morphinium Seriously. I had hoped that when RB3 came out it would be a fun way to learn how to actually play the songs, but even Expert Pro Keys isn't nearly as hard as an easy song on Synthesia. It sucks because Synthesia doesn't let you play alongside MP3s.

  • if you want a new level of difficulty, play synthesia on a real synthesizer

  • Did you already know how to play Keyboard, or did you start through Rock Band? I've just started and I kinda want to know how long to expect before I can play as well as you can.

  • @DracoStoc I already knew how to play keyboard before Rock Band, but I couldn't play guitar. It took about 3 months to get reasonably good on pro bass, and there are still quite a few songs I can't play. (Pro guitar was actually a bit easier at first, but once I got good at picking the right string, I did better with pro bass.) My general impression is that pro keys and pro bass are similar in difficulty, but pro guitar is harder.

  • @DracoStoc I had barely touched a keyboard or piano before getting the RB3 one. Two months later I can play most tough chords on Expert. Speed is another issue, but by the time you get a feel for the octaves, finger distances, and the game-interface itself, you'll have impressed yourself. I know I did. This game is awesome.

  • this looks insane. i want rockband 3! this song is awesome

  • Man Freddies voice is amazing.

  • I'm curious as to whether you have any sort of starting or returning position for you hand when you play. Do you keep your fingers mainly on the black keys or some of the white keys for songs and you just hit notes from there or what?

  • @UndeadMessenger I'm not sure about that; I'll have to pay more attention to what my hand is doing. I think I mainly keep my hand in the middle area of the chart if I don't know what note is coming up next, with my thumb and pinky on white keys and middle finger on one of the black keys. But it also depends on what key the song is in. If I recognize the key, I might try to guess what chord is coming up next.

  • Hey are you using 1 hand? I ask because im getting slightly better and better at keys and using 1 hand for three finger chords is getting easier for me. I can do better at 25 or 6 to 4 now and I do pretty good for Under pressure but 4 fingers are sooo tough that sometimes I cheat and use my 2nd hand for them. But I keep practicing 1 hand... I gotta say tho its a blast to play pro keys.

  • @nypad5 With very few exceptions I use 1 hand for pro keys. The one time I played Antibodies on expert I used two hands, and I use two hands for parts of Roundabout (but I haven't passed that one yet on expert). I also used the left hand for a handful of low D's in Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed".

  • I know to play this song on a real piano, so i guess it wont be too hard for me to play when i get this...

  • at 3:43, 'thunderbolts and lightning, very very *frightening* me', do you think the b-natural 7th chord has been authored wrongly? i thought i saw you try to hit the d but the mapped notes were b, e, f# and g#. which when i tried on the piano sounds awfully weird.

  • @herbertfkj I think you're right, that should be an E7 chord (B D E G#). I definitely hear the D when I go into practice mode to hear the piano part by itself. The F# is just out of place.

  • curious how did you work up to playing this song? and how do you get the chords so well? I have such a hard time hitting them T_T

  • @Blinx360 I started playing this song on hard until I was more familiar with the piano part. I know what you mean about hitting the chords -- I have the same problem with the pro guitar, but I've played the piano for years, so hitting chords like these has become a natural motion that I don't even think about consciously. One thing that helps me with songs like this is to follow the harmony so that I know what chords to expect. It seems to go all over the place, but it's largely in Eb major.

  • @tirelat thank you very much for the tips. it's been driving me crazy trying to get better at keys when there is a severe difficulty difference from normal to pro.

  • You man are fucking amazing! I could not even imagine doing this on expert. I am having troubles on easy yet alone playing expert. You are awesome.

  • @It's much harder in "the real life"

  • And I thought I heard it all. LOL!

Pretty good. I noticed where the "harder than it looks" part was. I would've sunk, probably. :)

  • Best. Song. Ever!!

    I NEED MOAR!!
