  • Still a brilliant parody: please do another one! This got to me Confession when it first aired: am planning on going this Monday too :)

  • For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2: 16 (KJV)

  • cute! lol

  • For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

  • He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. John 12:25 (KJV)

  • haha great video

  • loved it... so we made something like this for our youth group night on confession... really good idea!

  • LOL!!! Genius. I love it. Listen up, people!!

  • LOL!!! Genius. I love it. Listen up, people!!

  • Great! God bless all your efforts to try to help people find peace. Nothing tastes or feels as good as a peaceful conscience!

  • lol that was funny as hell

  • "that Baptized feeling?" How does a baby remember "that baptized feeling?" They don't even remember it happening! lol

  • Free, and worth every penny. As for myself, I think I'd get more use out of a Shamwow.

  • very clever!

  • So hilarious....LOL!!!!

  • Lol! <3 Nice video

  • Great video!!! I love it! :D

  • Good work, Father Vic.

  • Wow why are these folks commenting with so many verses! I just wanna read and see actual comments! Anyway this is such a good parody!

  • Matt. 9:8 - this verse shows that God has given the authority to forgive sins to "men." Hence, those Protestants who acknowledge that the apostles had the authority to forgive sins (which this verse demonstrates) must prove that this gift ended with the apostles. Otherwise, the apostles' successors still possess this gift. Where in Scripture is the gift of authority to forgive sins taken away from the apostles or their successors?

  • Acts 19:18 - many came to orally confess sins and divulge their sinful practices. Oral confession was the practice of the early Church just as it is today.

  • James 5:16 - James clearly teaches us that we must confess our sins to one another, not just privately to God. James 5:16 must be read in the context of James 5:14-15, which is referring to the healing power (both physical and spiritual) of the priests of the Church. Hence, when James says therefore in verse 16, he must be referring to the men he was writing about in verses 14 and 15 these men are the ordained priests of the Church, to whom we must confess our sins.

  • John 20:23 - Jesus says, "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven. If you retain the sins of any, they are retained." In order for the apostles to exercise this gift of forgiving sins, the penitents must orally confess their sins to them because the apostles are not mind readers. The text makes this very clear.

  • John 20:22 - the Lord "breathes" on the apostles, and then gives them the power to forgive and retain sins. The only other moment in Scripture where God breathes on man is in Gen. 2:7, when the Lord "breathes" divine life into man. When this happens, a significant transformation takes place.

  • John 20:21 - before He grants them the authority to forgive sins, Jesus says to the apostles, "as the Father sent me, so I send you." As Christ was sent by the Father to forgive sins, so Christ sends the apostles and their successors forgive sins.

  • Good job church, but you can have redemption delivered to your doorstep for free! Get on your knees and pray to Jesus for forgiveness and he will forgive you, Right now! Then - plug-in to a good church - you need brothers and sisters to walk thru this life with. Our God is awesome!

  • THIS IS AN ACTUAL CAMPAIGN ON YOUTUBE

  • Extremely well done! Nice job, Brooklyn diocese.

  • Ha ha! Nice video.

And I'm happy to see no religious arguments in the comments. :D

  • This ROCKS! I love it! Good job, Father Vic!

  • Somebody help me: is this a spoof or is it a genuine promotional video for the RCC?

  • its actually a promo vid for the RCC, but they made it look like a spoof...the Church does have a sense of humor =]

  • very interesting..

  • yes Jesus Christ is Lord,,,and Loves You Very Much !!!

  • well that was interesting to say the least

  • Well done...I am of course an unbeliever but this is tops.

  • I don't kiss ass when it comes to evaluating performances, but I gotta say that was REALLY well done. The voice was pitch perfect and everything else just worked right off the bat.

    9.5/10

    Great job

  • This is ingenius. LOL and then some more. keep up the good work.

  • If only he could've said "cuz we can't do this all day" after he gave the date...

  • i love new york !!!!!!

  • LOL!

  • Full Roman Collar, Shweet. Nice work Diocese of Brooklyn!

  • lol good one

  • Amazing video!

  • So this is how the early Roman missionaries approached the European tribes...

  • Yeah.

  • father vic is hot.

  • Ha this is actually pretty clever. I might just go to a confessional because of this.

  • i just saw this on the news like a sec ago....decided to check it out!

  • You know its good because the Pope's German, and Germans make good stuff.

  • LOL very clever man...

  • @monkeyman1140

    HAHA i remember that part!

  • Bravo. Gives a message of hope that God always forgives through confession.

  • Actually, since Jesus used the media of his day, I'm thinking he'd be involved in all popular culture.. facebook, twitter.. all channels to the people..

  • jesus has MYSPACE!!!

  • the "media" of his day was standing on a hill and talking to people...(though he never wrote down a word of his teachings, which plenty of people did back then...so no, I don't think he really did use "the media of his day"), he also overturned the tables of the money changers and the people selling useless trinkets. I don't think he'd be all that big on advertising schemes like television and social network sites. course I never met the guy, so I could be wrong...

  • He flipped the moneychangers' & merchants' tables because they were cheating their customers, not just because they were conducting business or advertising their services. This commercial is totally on the level; Jesus would be fine with it.

  • you can speak for jesus, can you?

  • John 20:22-23

And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."

  • John 20:22-23

And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."

Sounds like he can, to me!

  • Lol, this is ingenious! He imitates the Sham Wow guy pretty well too!

  • This rocks!

Love Vince but this guy is awesome

  • hey wats up abc. i saw that you told me about this vid. good good...

  • i had to see this video because i heard it on hot topics

  • HI HOT TOPICS

  • This is rediculous. Seriously? If Jesus were still dead he'd be spinning in his grave.

  • Sad...The Sham wow guy should go confess. He just got arrested for commiting a big sin.

  • You following me, camera guy?

  • this was on yahoo! news. :D

  • wow lol loves it!

  • HAHA, how great is this!

    Gogogogogo! :P

  • rock on, finally a person who makes me want to go to confession.

  • I love it!

  • It's great to see the revival going on in confession. Last night there were hundreds keeping the 8 preists at our parish busy for about 2 hrs or so. Last year they maybe had 20-30 people for the service.

  • Excellent....who came up with this idea!?!? And just in time for Easter!

  • cool

  • lol

  • THIS IS GREAT! From what I hear from my NYC friends, it's also WORKING! Is this guy a real priest? or does he have the blessing of his parish (hopefully) if he's not a priest???

Either way, a good play done respectfully that gets to the HEART of the matter! BRAVO!!! ;)

  • lol

  • At first i didn't know if he was being serious about about it or just making a joke on the whole thing.....

  • Awesone, wish he were in my area!

  • this guy is good. wickked good

  • It might be a little goofy, but, you know what, I'm sure there are people who will respond better to this message than some threatening fire and brimstone rant (although those have their place too, I imagine). It's good to see priests using every licit means of persuasion at their disposal to invite every possible audience out there.

  • wow. um... wow

  • wow! - Rene

  • wow! never thought i would say this but i really liked this .. i was entertained throught out the whole thing and it didnt bore me.. haha which is good cause i love watching videos i can enjoy right away.

  • They even threw in the "camera guy" joke from the real commercial.

Whoever came up with this is a genius.

  • The awesomeness! This is fantastic!

  • Loooool!

  • Great parody. And I hope this helped some people get things off their chests. And also, I just saw this on my local news channel.

  • Good Vid and I hope some took the guy up on his offer. Confession is good for you.

  • This is a great ad and I bet it got people to go. Even if 1% of the 9,000 + people who viewed this went to Confession, that would still be 90 people who allowed God to heal them of Sin. Anyone who thinks that "modern evangelism" is stupid is ignorant. To think that just preaching from the pulpit will get people who aren't in the Church in the first place to come to Confession is rather silly. We have to reach them where they are at... THE INTERNET is key! Great job to whoever did this!

  • This was a great idea and I bet it did work. Anyone who thinks that just preaching confession from the pulpit will get everyone there is ignorant of our current culture. Yes it will get people that are at Church to confession, but what about those that aren't at Church and don't get that reminder or that gentle nudge. They're online. If even 1% of the 9,000 people who viewed this went that is still 90 more people at confession! PRAISE GOD!

  • Stupid! Modern thinking! If the priests were in the confessions throughout the year as they should be and discussing the importance of this Sacrament throughout the year also, there would be no need for silly stuff as the above. People would automatically know about it from others. Speak about it from the pulpits like they should be doing, and they wouldn't need this stupid advertising, of course if it gets more people in for more contributions, then I guess its worth it to them.

  • Well done

  • Very funny. It captures the spirit of Confession without mocking it.

  • is he an actual priest in NY?

  • No he's not, but the video is sponsored by the diocese

  • I bet this worked...

  • bahahaah that made my day!! yay Jesus!!

  • Love it!

  • Wow. I can't believe it, but I'm actually motivaged to go... once I stop laughing.

  • See ya in church! I want that almost baptized feeling back. :)

  • nicE!

  • Clever!

  • Witty.

  • What a great idea! I hope people respond in huge numbers!

    Tom
