  • What is this? I can't believed I listened.

  • where can I purchase the MP3 for this >?

  • The original song said "toke" of love, he changed it to taken love for TOTP.

  • Comment removed

  • do you have it now, i really want this song!!?

  • Get limewire...download it for free!

  • haha i have it now :P it took me like 20 minutes to download though :(

  • Yes I have it!

  • This is from August 1979.

  • who is this singing?

  • @Iceman713713 its bruce springsteen m8

  • @cougarant Er, no, it's B.A.Robertson

  • Really clever stuff.

  • Brian Alexander Robertson, We salute you Sir.

An absolute classic song you never tire of hearing.

  • Bang Bang was the first record I ever bought,I love B A Robertson he's so talented and unlike some of the singers today, you can actually understand every word he's singing-pure class by the way.

  • Me too. Those drummer girls .... well there the same age as me now.

  • Hey, BA, why the long face? I think as well as Jimmy Nail, Rob Brydon and Brucie, there's also a slight resemblance of the 'Boss' (Springsteen).

I bought this in 1980 from WH Smiths and also his follow up: To Be or Not To Be. I was only 10 at the time but still think Bang Bang is an OK record.

  • im 16 and i think this songs belta

  • you havnt got a clue have yous top man top song muppets

  • 1 :00 that's a cocaine reference on sherlock holmes isnt it?

  • this brings back memories the first 45 i ever bought lol

  • this song has been stuck in my head for weeks, top notch

  • Legs and Co were the DANCERS on TOP OF THE POPS not a band!! Successors to PAN'S PEOPLE. Do a youtube search for either Legs and Co or Pan's People and check them out!!

  • 'the drummer girls' were some of Legs And Co, don't you recognise them?

  • those drummer girls do look smart, i will take the blonde one

  • i'll have the brunette =)

  • Mickmitchell25, she loved Johnny Fruin. John Fruin was in fact a music business executive. Around the time of "Bang Bang" he was managing director of WEA and chairman of the BPI. As for this funny little song, it's definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, although I can't listen to anything by BA Robertson without visualising Anabella Lwin storming off his short-lived chatshow BA In Music ("this is a pretty shit show!"). Could someone PLEASE find it and post it onto Youtube, it'd make my day:-)

  • Not exactly a star, was he. Although I do remember quite vividly appearing on the final, 148th edition of Multi Coloured Swap Shop to perform a ditty about the demise of the show....

  • That could possibly be a relative of jimmy nail what do you think?

  • or rob bryden

  • Check out this singer's performance in the movie "Monster Club".He does a song called a "Sucker for your love".

  • Saint Saens on the radio,Flight 19,Bully for you,Son of a Gun...and more

  • Life was in a ruin she loved Johnny...? i never got that bit, can anyone explain the reference. We had a copy of the single with a picture on the cover of caricatures of the people in the song.

  • this song was in my head for near on 30 years ! thanks for the person that posted this and brought back the memories, I am sure i will sleep better now.

  • I had this single released as a limited edition. It had a fold in cracker that you could hold and flick out with your wrist - hence Bang Bang. Probably worth a fortune now?? - maybe not.

  • Bob Strong would love this. Top notch song

  • I didn't realise just how good this one is. An excellant performance and those drummer girls. WOW ! BANG BANG !!!!

  • Thanks for that fvv84! It takes me back 25 years, drivin from Croom to Bruff in a Renault 5. That poor casette was burned out.

  • I remember my father telling me about this song. It wasn't supposed to be HUGE in Germany in the 80's. I heard it on cassette, then wanted it on cd, but wasn't around. Haven't heard it in 3 years! Thanks for the good memories, whoever post this

  • love the video does anyone remember knocked it off by him cant find it anywhere xx

  • Yeah, his other hits were KOOL IN THE KAFTAN and KNOCKED IT OFF. I believe that there is a compilation best of CD around in the UK that came out a year or two ago. Try Amazon UK.

  • Don't forget "To Be or Not To Be" and his duet with Maggie Bell: "Hold Me" :)

  • Tell em they can stuff it,im not about to rough it,in some Granada Ghia I was top of the pops!!

  • COOL DUDE.FANNY MAGNET

  • so thats what jeremy clarkson got up to before top gear

  • Brill...one of the first singles I ever bought with my paper-round money!

  • This was purest shite - but I actually liked it back then. Just shows that when you take off the rose-tinted spectacles, there was as much dross then as there is now.

  • lol @ december2364. I agree 100%

  • This song was Huge in its day....

    Thanks for the memory sharing,

were we all really that innocent back then....

  • Feckin' ace. Where can I get this on MP3...?

  • He sings like a cockney, yet he has a strong Scottish accent.Funny that!

  • It's like David Tennant in singer form!

  • what the hooting heck is brain jones? is it some sort of brain disorder? how did he kill (or cure) it?

  • Wonderful stuff - last I heard, like David Dundas, he was producing songs in LA - hmmm - interestingly none of the Spice Girls followed BA's lead.

  • Great fun. The era 1978 - 1981 is like a little era in itself and contains much classic pop.

  • cool, thought i was the only one who had this song

  • Finally I found my favorite from the early 80's, howwever, found out that he's indeed not the innocent type that I remembered him

  • this guy doesnt get the respect he deserves i really think hes a great front man on stage and i love the line she loved johnney throughing fell in love and through him away whats that all about.

  • That chin is of major proportions! The guy is a walking talking chin! Song is a nostalgic return to the 70s! BA you gotta hope you dont get a double chin! Your head would surely fall off!

  • where can see him hes a legend with a big chin

take a few bang bangs to knock this one out hes hard as wesley snipes's chocolate cock.

fuck man doctors just told me my mates got cancer

ive got to go and buy the fucker a pxs 3 now its compulsary what a fucking rotter.

  • great, about time this one appeared on here...

  • Saw BA a few years back in Howth, Dublin. Shamefully only a handful of people turned up to a poorly advertised gig but BA, having flown in from his mother's funeral, played on anyway and was brilliant. What a writer this man is!!

  • 80s sound - from July 1979.A classic falling 1 short of the top slot

  • Thanks for posting. Initial Success was a great album.

    Greetz

    FA 8)

  • Good to see this again on Youtube, after previously being removed.

  • Why was this removed before?

  • Well, it's ages since I saw this one on tv; well I must admit that I used to like it more...well I guess I'm getting old...., but thanks anyway!

  • yea just got into the yo tube thing but does anyone have the vid to, too be or not to be my lover ?

  • Yeah, great singer songwriter, where is he now. I know the last Iheard was in Ireland and he did a little tour and actually came to my home town, BUT, I was away at the time and missed it. Does he do anymore tours? Tried all web sites etc., find nothing

Would pay anything to see him and go anywhere

    Owen

  • What A video. Hope the utube police do not take it down again !!

  • fucken class
