  • Clone? Rip off? Maybe... BUT if the game is fun to play is all this really important?

I personally play games to have fun so this one delivered. But unfortunately I believe this particular game is hard to recommend today if someone didn't play it back then or is a die-hard retro fan... :(

    I still love it though.

  • I appreciate the reveiw so TY. I am buying up RPG's and Strategy games on the wii VC and these are a help to me.

  • @donotresussitate I appreciate that. Thanks for watching!

  • Great video! Im getting a pc engine soon, would this be playable if it was all in japanese? Or is it required to have to read it?

  • @MrGuitarguy123 Hmm...I'm sure you can figure it out. But, I got a lot of tips from the towns folks...ha ha. :)

  • this is basicly the same thing as zelda 1....

  • @DogMan2236 It is definitely a clone. Great game! Thanks for watching!

  • Sweet! I've finished Zelda1 / 3 so many times I've lost count. My TG16 is in the mail so this is on the top3 games to get next week! Thanks Chris!

  • @AphexDash Thanks for watching!

  • An enhanced rip off of Zelda eh?

lol, sounds like I could have some good fun out of this. '3'

I remember not too long ago, playing another LoZ rip for the PS3 called "3D Dot Game Heroes", and for a while that game was fun, especially since I could create my own hero completely manually, a trait I perfer much more than customization options found in games like LittleBigPlanet or Blinx 2.

Oh well, that aside, I have plenty of spare Wii points, so I may consider checking this game out. :)

  • I love this game, But never finished it. The thing is, I got to the last world and accidentally erased my game. That was NOT cool!

  • you know this regardless of if it makes sense or not, kirby's adventure for the nes would look great if it were ported to the turbografx 16/pc engine

  • @Gigastorm123 That would be cool! I can see it! :)

  • the music brings me back =)

  • @vato76 I know...me too. Memories galore! :)

  • Chris when will you review Neutopia II for the TurboGrafx-16?

  • @Chaniyth I am not sure quite yet. But, it's definitely in the next 25....

    Thanks!

  • I should tell my friend at school about Neutopia. Shes such a big fangirl of Zelda, she'll probably like this title.

  • this should have been the pack-in game for the turbografx 16

  • it looks more like link to the past rather than nes at least.

  • HEY Neutopia playing this on my wii,its fucking cool epic music =)

  • @PowerPlantt Totally! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • was that a jewish golem @ 5:13??

  • @OnlySinner Ha ha! Looks like it doesn't it? :)

  • @OnlySinner Yup, that's the second boss.

  • better than Zelda

  • wow what a blatant rip-off of Zelda

  • @cornchippers I know. Great isn't it? Ha ha. Thanks for watching!

  • Never play it before,fortunately,it`s not too late to fix that mistake :}

And here i thought that kiss from Princess Peach was the best you can get from all Video Games Princesses

  • Ha ha. It was....'till this game. LOL! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • I had a lot of fun beating both Neutopia games ! I just wish Hudson Soft made a third Neutopia game. Especially after the way the second game ended ! Oh well, I guess 2 is better than none ! Great review spida1a ! You're the best !

  • Obviously I loved Neutopia. Neutopia 2 I could NEVER find when I was a kid (it was one of the bunch that I didn't have growing-up). So, I don't have very much play on it and am actually looking forward to digging into it for an in-depth review sometime. ;)

    Thanks as always my friend!

  • Why not? Hudson has been remaking their franchises on Wii Ware a lot recently. I wouldn't say that there's no chance that Neutopia III won't come.

  • I wouldn't mind a Neutopia III. Not at all.

Then again, I'm up for almost anything that has been remade (Konami totally rules with their Contra and Castlevania re-structures). :)

  • Personally, while I like remakes, some of the Wii Ware remakes have been hit or miss. Castlevania Rebirth was a good idea, but I didn't like it as much as the other 16 bit games. Haven't played Contra Rebirth, but it looks cool, so I should get that. Are you getting Blaster Master Overdrive (the Blaster Master semi-sequel remake)?

  • Yeah, I agree. Although, I thoroughly enjoyed Castlevania Rebirth.

I'll have to see about Blaster Master. I always enjoyed the original. :)

  • I'm going to have to get this game...looks very cool...although it's a wonder nintendo didnt sue the makers of this game for being so simular to zelda...

  • Well, they didn't sue Banjo Kazooie's creators for aping Super Mario 64, but, in seriousness, that and this aren't theft but imitation of a game style. It was probably seen as a compliment.

  • It is amazing how close it is in places, but you know the makers learn from imitating when they add some successful variations. The good variations sometimes develop into something strong in their own right; Final Fantasy I was inspired by old Dungeons & Dragons computer games, for instance, and one can still see that in some of their later games: Cure spell, EXP, levels, healing being a weapon against undead, character jobs...

  • I must say your reviews of old tg16 bring me back to a great time in my life.

I am 8 and 16 bit crazy! todays games are great but so many gems are lost out there. I'm glad that you do what you do... I'd prob. be doing it if you weren't already.

I don't know how you find the time. I'm 38 yrs old and I feel that no other generation other than mine can truely appreciate every era of video gaming. You need to know where you've been to know where you're at! You are a true CLASSIC!

  • Ha ha. I don't know where I find the time either. But....it's a great stress-reliever for me (playing games and doing videos). So, it serves a couple of purposes. You know?

Thanks for subscribing and the wonderful compliments. :)

  • Yes! Great Zelda clone. This one is lots of fun.

I could kick myself for trading it away all those years ago. That had been a serious mistake but, that's also how I got Legendary Axe, I think...

Anyone who thinks this would just be a boring repeat of Zelda is really missing out.

    Take Chris' advice. Play this.

  • ... sigh ...

what fond memories I had of this one. I often regretted buying the turbo grafx 16 instead of the competition, however, this game WAS a gem. I spent hours lost inside this one.

    What nostalgia. Great game.

  • I spent hours as well.......sigh.......the memories. :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Hey is my comments getting erased I put one here a minute ago and it's gone, what's the deal? my comment wasn't vulgar or anything. Why is it gone now?

  • Someone else said they had this same issue after leaving multiple comments within a certain amount of time. Not sure......must be a YouTube thing......

  • Great games. Neutopia 2 is WONDERFUL, the control can't be beat. You can move diagonally, and change direction while attacking (like swinging a sword). One of my all-time favorites.

  • Definitely! A couple of really great improvements in the sequel. I can't wait to play that again someday. :)

  • I never played the first one, but I had Neutopia II, and I must say, there doesn't seem to be any difference other than the levels. Graphics, items and weapons seem to be the exact same!

Great game. But one thing I hated was how when you get hit you get fired back.

  • I only played the second one "once" before and am looking forward to digging through it, especially after recently playing the first one for this review. You know?

Yeah, I hate it in games when you get knocked back. Ugh!!!!!!!!! ;)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Can you use the password on the turbo express, i dont think you can, but i thought i would ask

  • You can use the "password" on the Turbo Express, yes. You just won't have the internal memory to save it automatically. It's a looooooong password as well. Ugh!

  • Great Review man! Neutopia is my all time favorite TG-16 game!

  • Wohoo! Thanks a lot. I always loved the game.

    Thanks for watching!

  • oh nice! bumped to the top of my must-buy list!

  • Looks amazing. I wanna get a TG16 now bad. Thanks for the knowledge. Much appreciated. Gave you a big 5 stars.

  • Hey, awesome. And, thanks for subscribing! :)

  • Where did you get the hot riff you start your reviews with? Did you write that?

  • Ha, no. That is actually "royalty free" original music I purchased. :)

  • Steam Hearts, huh? Heh. I would suggest reviewing that one, but I don't think YouTube would approve.

  • Ha! I'll get to it eventually, hee hee.

  • I recently found out there is a sequel to this game and i'd like to know if it's as good as this one? Thanks

  • It's very similar but a lot of fun (if you like the original). We'll work on that in the future. :)

  • How did I miss this review? Anyway, this looks really great. I've never even heard of it before but now I'm itching to play it. Thanks for dropping some knowledge on us.

  • Hey, sointly! Thanks for watching!

  • I miss neutopia the frist time around when i had a TG16.That's untile i got the console again years later.Afther playing it the game sure is a zelda clone but a damn good one at least.I still wish the game got a part 3 spida.

  • Yes, definitely. I would have loved a third installment. I'm looking forward to digging into the sequel one of these days. :)

  • Cool when you do part two that could use a review.I all ways thought it was a excellent game even if the controlls were not perfect.

  • I believe I never tried this one. Do you think iI should get a TG-16 for both Neutopia games and the few other English HuCard releases?

  • what a great review and game!

  • Thanks! And yes, always a favorite of mine!

  • I awlays wanted to play this but didnt simply because I was pro Nintendo!

  • Ha! I understand completely! :)

  • if you like this and the old 2d zeldas check out "Golden Axe Warrior" for the sega master system.

  • I used to own that one when I was little. I definitely want to own it again.

  • The game does look like a cheap knock-off of Zelda. But it does look kinda cool. Those weapons do look awesome. Keep those reviews coming.

  • Yeah. It's definitely not cheap. But, it shares a lot of very similar things. Hee hee!!

  • this game looks nice, i try to get a copy, hope i find one

  • how come the vids already gone? i bet it would have been another masterpiece!

  • The vids already gone?

  • yeah everytime i pull it up the vids not available. damn shame

  • That is. I don't have a problem and it seems to be working for others. Sorry man. :(

  • Wow, never even heard of this game. Sounds pretty fun.. if a bit bland at times :D

  • Wow, I really enjoy your reviews. The way you speak and your amazing editing skills really make them shine. You also cover games a lot of people haven't heard of. Amazing. I'm a big fan.

  • Wow, thanks so much! That means a lot. Keep watching as there are A LOT more on the way!

    Thanks again!

  • You're very welcome! Thank you for making these!

I noticed you're really making these quite frequently. I can't wait to see more! Great job!

  • 5:12 jewbot! (look at his chest lol)

  • LOL! Sweet!

  • All Princess's should say that after being saved, heh heh! Yeah, gamers may dismiss Neutopia since it looks so much like Zelda but it plays so well that you can't help loving it. Great review man!

  • LOL! Yeah, she "wants" it. :)

    Definitely. Thanks!!!

  • ME WANT! Great Review man.

  • You get! Hee hee!

    Thanks a lot!
