  • oh yes great memories...)

  • memories of life "when"

  • @ioranbul " Beauty is skin deep ", is obviously not a criteria in your assessment of human attainments , huh ???

  • i just liked it

  • nobody will ever sing live as good as rod in his prime, the best testiment i can give is that the song actually sounds better than the studio version

  • @scouserla1 Thats because top of the pops back then used to be dubbed. Dont get me wrong i still love the song but ALL the artists used to do it back then

  • @malignantneato i agree, back then they did mime, BUT rod sang live a few times because he could, check out maggie may, you wear it well, angel & sailing. all on youtube all on top of the pops

  • @scouserla1 ...I don't think this mimed it's live. The phrasing and instrumentation is completely different to the album version

  • @Aussiephil99 i stand corrected, i thoughtt you meant he mimed? the one thing i admired about rod was he served his apprenticeship by busking around europe & london for years, its how long john bawldry noticed him? i hate the fast lane x factor & its overnight stars

  • @scouserla1 your right. Rods still around after decades and fills concert seats no problem,I would hazard a guess and say most current " artists" will have gone quietly long before that sort of time frame.....hopefully

  • @theoldgalah i suppose rods staying power is all down to the fact he earned his fame & fortune the hard way, not via x factor?

  • @Aussiephil99 ps i got mixed up with you & malignantneato before, hope you got my gist & gadday

  • Po co to komentować, każdy może się sam domyśleć co jest co. po prostu super muzyka. Pozdrawiam.

  • nice hair-do,does it come in 'mens'?

  • rod reached his full vocal potential during the 70's to the mid 80's, his voice isnt the same now. maybe he never fully recovered from the throat cancer? by the way i'm not having a pop at him, i'm telling it how it is, & its a shame

  • I've just gotten home after watching Rod in concert. He sang Sailing as his final song during his encore. He's still an amazing singer and showman. Definitely one of the better concerts I've seen here in Perth. He makes you feel like you are at a party in his house. Onya Rod:)

  • @ozbess ...BEAUTIFULLY SAID...

  • une merveille

  • What a voice- what a song - unique!

  • irgi geras!!!!!!!!!

  • I was thirteen and already in love with Rod. :)

  • One month later I was born.....O.o.

  • @Jadeeye76 oh lucky...I was already 10...

  • Yep defo 1975, as it was the number 1 when i was born!

  • was actually a number 1 in 1975 not 76

  • @alfonsogrady Rod Stewart's "Sailing" reached number 1 on the UK charts in 1975, then returned to the chart in 1976, when it reached number 3.

  • 1:50 nice butt Rod

  • I just used this on my blog Isherwood Wildwalker's Wanderoke Musings

  • I recently bought the BBC DVD "Sailor" series, made in 1976 about the old Ark Royal. Poor old Rod has had his Sailing song replaced by a military band version. Not quite the same as this original. Maybe it's because 'poor' old Rod asked for too much, or the BBC wanted to save money. Certainly not for Rod's musical talent - you don't actually see him. Good old 1976 - year of the great drought where I learnt to sail at Draycot Water. Then home to watch Top of the Pops and Sailor. Perhaps this son

  • @monkscellar Warner Bros blocked the use of Rods Sailing and DVD had to use alternative otherwise £m lawsuit

  • My mom introduced me to his music when I was a small kid... I am now 40 and love his music more than ever.. especially his classics. :):)

  • @sassypantz33 me too I was 5 in 1975 and remember this so well then forgot it, then 3 years ago it all came back...1970's clasics from Rod are I think underrated - love the voice moree than ever

  • He's much better nowadays...

  • nice eye shadow, Rod, you fag

  • @tedGEGI He had the most beautiful women in the 70's ; those days men weren't as insecure about their sexuality as some ''macho's'' today...a fag for sure xD

  • immer gut

  • this song was played on my grandas funeral, he died on his birthday at 6:30 am :'(

  • @MrNinjaGaming1 may he rest in peace

  • I was a JMEM (junior marine engineering mechanic) in the R. N learning a seamanship trade when this song came out. Brings back so many memories, theme tune to the fly on the wall documentary Ark Royal.

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG! I always LOVED this song!

  • Great to revisit, but nice to leave behind again.

  • wow, I could have been one of the young ladies in the elephant leg pants behind him. what the heck were we thinking of that "fashion" back in the day?

  • Brilliant vocals

  • Thanks for this vid ! =)

  • j'adore!ma jeunesse toujours à la mode

  • As the Anthem for the Task Force to the Falklands, this is so lump in the throat stuff.

  • I used to be standing in the Jungle at Celtic Park listening to this over the PA system and all the fans joining in, before all those rebel songs were introduced.

  • This has a "cross-dresser" feel to it - Brit Ekland was in charge of make-up around this period - hence the heavy foundation and dark eye-shadow. With the vintage Stewart 70's clothing he certainly has a pop idol look !

  • I love this song, but he really looks like a faggot. Dont remember him that way, yeez, I was in love with him.

  • I sadly remember watching this

  • omg!.....love it......totally lovely......

  • i like the other more famous sailing song better but this is good.

    christopher cross rules!!!

    monkey turds.

  • Did they put enough make-up on him

  • @Heartbreakin I think he put that makeup on hehhehe
