you have to go through the same training, and if you can prove yourself as an accurate shot with a rifle, you can apply to do the sniper selection course
yeah you do basic training, then you either get selected or if your not that lucky you can ask to be one and if accepted you get to go to try-out/begining of sniper training
it works different for different states and bases but thats the basic jist of it ;)

Corps or regiment should never be grounds on defining our troops - they all COLLECTIVELY do a fantastic job of keeping us safe and free, from the grunts to the ruperts. Being a booty, maroon or crab doesn't make you anymore human than the latter. God bless or lads and bring them home safe.
I really like the British desert camo fatigues. Im sure its much more effective than our new uniform the the US Army. But the US Marines desert MARPAT probably has to be the best in my opinion.
I guess your new uniform is the digicam all terrian camo then. Isnt it suposed to be good for urban enviroments? cant see it being effective in the desert thou :(
awesome, keep it up but try and increase how far you run because the train is HARD. Don't just do running though do rowing, swimming and cycling. If you do muscle excercise after a 4 mile run like press ups, sit ups, trisep dips, dorsal raises and stuff like that you'll be in good shape for the training in no time. Just make sure you can run 1.5 miles in under 12 minutes (try for 9 mins) and you will be in. Good luck, hopefully see you at Honington some time next year

hi all in half way through im aplication to join the regiment got my interview in a couple of days im looking forward to it if i pass selection i hope to do my basic training then if my fitness is up to scratch i hope to do my para training then be joint with 2 squad looking forward to being part of one of the best forces in the world ( RAF REGIMENT )

If RAF Reg Is not one of the best forces, how come the Paras and Marines need RAF Reg to form SFSG? (Special Forces Support Group)

Corps or regiment should never be grounds on defining our troops - they all COLLECTIVELY do a fantastic job of keeping us safe and free, from the grunts to the ruperts. Being a booty, maroon or crab doesn't make you anymore human than the latter. God bless or lads and bring them home safe.

I really like the British desert camo fatigues. Im sure its much more effective than our new uniform the the US Army. But the US Marines desert MARPAT probably has to be the best in my opinion.
I would like to see the Brits uniform up close.

I guess your new uniform is the digicam all terrian camo then. Isnt it suposed to be good for urban enviroments? cant see it being effective in the desert thou :(

Yes the new US Army uniform was more like a "cool" factor than being a "tool" factor.
It does work well in Iraq and Urban, but Christ I dont even want to think how many lives its going to endanger in a woodland or jungle environment.
Thats what happens when you let people in advertising decide what camo is good for troops. Fucking morons in D.C.

hitman. There is the option to leave early however the service will dictate the time period after training.

I plan to join the regiment someday. too young at the moment, so I'm going to aim high.

awesome, keep it up but try and increase how far you run because the train is HARD. Don't just do running though do rowing, swimming and cycling. If you do muscle excercise after a 4 mile run like press ups, sit ups, trisep dips, dorsal raises and stuff like that you'll be in good shape for the training in no time. Just make sure you can run 1.5 miles in under 12 minutes (try for 9 mins) and you will be in. Good luck, hopefully see you at Honington some time next year
