  • I'm sure the strain of this act was the undoing of him?

  • He also was polydactyl [he had five finfers and a thumb on each hand] which you can see at 0.07

  • This isn't funny. Don't get me wrong, it's impressive, and he's talented. I just don't see how people call this "comedic genius" and can sit here and laugh out loud at it.

  • @AlexLong1000 i agree its not funny to us now but think back in them days it was the beginning of comedy and he was one of the 1st to do comedy, its like the beatles, dont get me wrong their brilliant but their overrated and so popular because they were the 1st to do what they did

  • @AlexLong1000 We are talking about an artist plying his trade over a hundred years ago.

  • @sewitt60 Yeah I know, and it must of been funny then, for whatever reason. My point is people TODAY can sit here and laugh out loud at him. That's what I don't get.

  • Very clever. Ahead of the game.

  • So that's where Michael Jackson got his inspiration from. Clearly.

  • At last I have seen Little Tich and his Big Boot Dance. Now I shall not be easily impressed by anything else!

  • The winner of Britian's got Talant 1900!

  • You had to make your own fun in those days. :)

  • omg that was awsome

  • @egapnala65 thank you for you response, I think my mum got it for Christmas :)

  • Little Titch (Harry Relph) was my Grandads uncle. Only recently discovered him so it great that I can see videos of him from so long ago. Interesting man to research!

  • @Lulzaroonie You can buy his "autobiography" on Amazon and if you google "Windyridge Cds" theres a whole CD devoted to his character sketches.

  • Saw this on QI, wanted a second look. Weird guy...

  • @whatthedom This was only a tiny part of his act. He played a wide range of characters to and some 20 records of him survive. There are a couple of his monologues on here.

  • so thats where pingo came from

  • Sent her by QI?

  • I remember seeing this at a museum in Rochester (UK, not USA!).

  • viewers may be interested to see the link i have posted to Wayne Sleep's recreation of this act

  • Unbelievable. There really is such a thing. "Little Tich & His Big Boot Dance" is a running gag in at least one Robert Rankin novel, "The Witches of Chiswick." I googled it because of I was bored, expecting only to find Rankin-related hits. Wow....can't stop watching it.

  • Little Titch came to Australia and played the Tivoli circuit. He was much loved here. A great performer its a pity there is not much film of these stars but thank you so much for this . It is greatly appreciated.

  • I have never heard of little tich, but that was great, you tube is more than a "Freak show" it's a nostalgic heaven, and a learning facility

  • my grandads dad was good friends off little tich his surname was bailey

  • He screws it up at 0:30 but i dont think anyone noticed. ;)

  • Its amazing to see films of this age.

  • i don't know why, but this slightly freaked me out! he's amongst a bunch of people that I have to research for my Popular Performance class for drama. any info?

  • @dead39bunny Autobiography on amazon.

  • "Little Tich and His Big Boots", made by the great French director Alice Guy Blaché, was filmed during a live performance at the Paris Exhibition of 1900. It's a vital record of this important comedian's most distinctive act. This film is significant for another reason too, as it was a very early attempt to synchonise a moving image with a sound recording

  • Little Tich, another one o the greats of the Music Hall!

  • They didn't laugh on QI when they showed this! I thought it was hillarious. He was apparently an influence on Chaplin...

  • Thanks to QI for making me look this up.

  • lol. Thats the only reason i looked it up to

  • I looked him up after seeing the Automaton.

  • XDD Apparently he stopped growing when he was 10.

    That man's a genius.

  • fascinating yet eerie and very scary, but 20äs film has that effect on me.

  • @suckmyloli Why does it scare you?

  • great with Nile music

  • Excellent - the man was a genius! Nobody before or since (as far as I know) has ever done this act. Many thanks for posting!
